Nice review. I think this guy can use more paint. The car mode is too boring.

The smaller of his guns is the Binary Gun, which for a time is a big deal in the comics (and mentioned as such in the carback bio). Don't know what the larger one is for but hey, he doesn't use it in the comics but my Universe Sideswipe sure could use a gun other than his shoulder mounted flare launcher...

Only thing I have a problem with is the expressionless face. Honestly, I would have liked the smirk he has on the comic cover, but I'm sure some third party will come around with a good head replacement ala the Seargent Kup Cy-Gar heads. Also; it's Skids, we've been needing a Classics version of him since like, ever, so he's a must-buy on those grounds alone.

I'm pretty sure that's the face he made the first time Swerve told him a joke, in issue #2.

Thinking about it, he's actually got a fair amount of paint in vehicle mode... his hubcaps are painted, as are his taillights, grill, and the sides of the doors.

Pretty sure it's his G1 gun.

It's one of the guns his original toy came with.

Am I the only one who HATES the vehicle mode? It's as if somebody sat on the front end.

It reminds me more of animated Bumblebee.

    Nice robot mode though.

Probably because they have the comic-accurate chest, which is already shaped like a car's front end, but then with two additional pieces on the side to make it look more sleak and Earthy, so it comes off a bit wide.

    And now it's awesome again.

Animated Bumblebee had the perfect alt mode for Bumblebee, and it was a sweet little car.

Limited outward shoulder movement is gonna bug me, but I really love everything else I'm seeing. I hope reprolabels makes a set for him to make his deco a little more comic accurate, mostly concerning the various lights on him.

It's dumb how happy I am about him having actual wheels on the bottom of his feet.

The shoulders really bug me, as just from pictures it looks like an inexcusable design oversight. I'm sure it'll be much better in person, though. The unpainted hands look really bad, too.

But in the picture with the weapons deployed, it looks like the shoulders extend out somewhat.

The shoulders are on ball joints but you've got to click them into position to access this otherwise they just stay stiff against the sides.

The shoulder cannons do restrict movement though.

So in your first picture without the shoulder cannons deployed, are the ball joints not clicked into place?

As a reference point, with the guns pushed out of the way, his shoulder articulation does increase somewhat. Here's a very quick photo of an example

Without weapons they're not clicked into place, with weapons they are. I found out about this mid-shoot. Sorry. It isn't in the instructions so required some exploration.

Aha! Outward shoulder movement! Thank you for clearing that up. This toy just jumped to near-perfect for me.
