Is there a thread for this yet? I searched the forums but couldn't find one. Anyway, I picked this up a couple of weeks ago in Japan and only just got around to messing with it properly. If you have either GT-01 Prime or GT-02 Saber then you know what to expect. GT-03 Megatron is pretty much the same figure just with a different paint job representing the S Road REITO MOLA GT-R race car which looks like this... The box is similar to the previous two GT-R boxes with the same windows for the car and the race queen figure as well as a bunch of info on the back. GT-R Megatron GT-R Megatron The bot mode is still as cool as it ever was in Alternity or the previous two GT-Rs. The same problem exists with the door wings as it did with Prime and Saber... namely that the hinges seem to get stuck against the side of the car and therefore restrict movement of the arms and wings. Not a big deal but a bit of a pain. GT-R Megatron GT-R Megatron GT-R Megatron The paintwork is perfect on Megatron. The silver, grey and red all look really good and, in my opinion, look suit the character better than the Saber paintwork. This figure is on par with the Prime GT-R. One thing I did notice was that the first transformation resulted in a few bits of silver paintwork chipping off of the figure. That hasn't happened since though so I assume everything is fine. The alt mode is great... they really nailed the paintwork on it. GT-R Megatron GT-R Megatron GT-R Megatron GT-R Megatron GT-R Megatron GT-R Megatron Overall a cracking Transformer. I really wish this line would be continuing on for more than one more release but it looks like that's all we are getting. If you are on the fence about this release or either of the other two previous release then don't hesitate... go for it
Got one too when it got released, and somehow it didn't feel as good to me in hand as GT-R Convoy. And asking us to jam the weapon in the middle of the spoiler in car mode is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. A complete afterthought once again.
I think he looks really nice. I already own the grey Alternity Megatron, and I feel that one is all the Megatron I need, but this one's equally great in a different way! Only now I notice he has Beast Wars Megs 'teeth' on his cheeks..not sure why, but that's cool!
Very cool. Can you provide more close up shots of the head sculpt and his fusion cannon weapon? For some reason Takara refuses to show off his gun in any clear way as to how he holds it and how it sizes up with the rest of the figure (even the one picture you have of him wielding it has perspective/angle of the shot going against it). How is the race queen he comes with? I assume she can hold his fusion cannon much like her fellow racing sisters can hold their respective car bot accessories? Thanks! Oh and I think they have one more release in the GT Alternity line and that's the green and white deco of Fort Max (with racing queen in green and white too). He's the one I'm liking the most out of the 4 of them.
Hopefully HLJ ships my PW in the next week and i can get mine. Its amazinng how they nail the paintwork on these and the masterpieces have such crappy paint jobs.
This! Does it look good as fusion cannon? Or as a blaster? I want to see the arm that wields is like his classic incarnation.
It's alright, nothing special. Looks like a fire extinguisher resting on his arm. The extinguisher weapon design in the earlier artwork was way more impressive.
Is the race queen supposed to be Skywarp in humanoid form? It has Skywarp-ish colors for her uniform.
