I finally found him. He was well worth the wait, I had thought rather highly of him, even before getting him, and nearly got him and the blue version half a dozen times in GF. Now that I have him, he's even cooler than I thought. I really, really like the spider tank mode, I love the transformation, the articulation, robot mode, and the extras. He is also one of those TF's that could be a mech. What is with the Planet X TFs that beat the pants off most of the other figures?

To me, there is no Scrapmetal. He's Frenzy. Hasbro better release the blue version, I want my Rumble! Personally, I could live with just those two, and not the yellow or the Coby versions.

Just bought Scrapmetal last week. Interesting little figure.

    - the bot mode is very nicely articulated, and I like the massive shoulder cannon.

    - The vehicle is interesting. Clearly designed around the bot and transformation scheme, but sometimes that works. It evokes a scorpion more than a spider though.

Cool little figure. Another basic size winner.

I picked up a Scrapmetal with C. Blurr and then later that day, C. Wing Saber... it could be that I had read how great Scrapmetal was but hadn't been looking forward to picking it up as much as I'd been looking forward to grabbing Blurr and WS... but I don't think he's as great as everyone else seems to think.

This isn't to say I think he's bad - not at all. As Shane said, he's...
This is also coming from someone who is unimpressed with Armorhide, though...

However, I can't say I don't like this guy. The number of balljoints (which may end up causing trouble later on in the toy's life) gives him a VERY large range of movement, which I absolutely love... not to mention the numerous fan-made-alt-modes I've already seen (and that's just with the Hasbro release)... he's a cool little guy that a lot can be done with. I think, and it may be because of the cartoon, that he lacks some personality. A lot of people have said they think the bug face is cool - and it is. Thing is... it's very undefining. Which is part of his character... which makes me go in circles. For the character(s), the bug face is perfect for a swarm. But for an individual toy, I'm not wild about it. If you're a troop builder, THIS is the toy to do it with, hands down.

If he's supposed to be his own character like the bio on the back of his card says... he loses points - gets a C+. As long as you ignore that and think of him as a drone, he gets a B. If you're a troop builder with Transformers - this guy is perfect. I think I might actually like him a LOT better in mass quantities. So my assumed grade for mass amounts of Scrapmetals goes up to an A.

mine has the piledrivers differently then the back of the box, are they all like this? and other then a homage to rumble and frenzy, do they actually serve a purpose? other then that confusion, i love the little guy, wish the show would translate better, and call them the swarm or something....i hope we get blue yellow and maybe a green one, i think those are all the colors in the show....

apparently, yes, scrap's piledrivers are fixed differently from the packaging for whatever reason.

as mentioned in my previous post, i did remedy that, tho', for the sake of it.

Just found him today and I must say that he has taken over the role of my favorite basic. Awsome little bugger he is. I have him standing beside my Energon Ravage. They look good togeather.

Got this little guy myself a few days ago and quite fond of it; actually holds together a little better than the GF versions, particularly in alternate mode. I have noticed two problems with my Scrapmetal:

    - The Planet Key gimmick doesn't work correctly. Inserting the Key causes the blade to flip forward but, when the Key is removed, the catch that holds the blade in 'cannon' position doesn't return to 'cannon' position. As such, the blade won't stay in 'cannon' position without manually resetting the catch.
    - Some flecks of black paint on the cockpit window and a few splotches of red on black areas here and there.

So far, I've got all four versions and have been going with:

    GF Red = Frenzy
    GF Blue = Rumble
    GF Yellow = Slugfest
    C Red = Overkill

Call me another fan. I found one today and the first thing that struck me is the range of motion. The general design totally reminds me of Insecticons. I wouldn't even mind if the movie put a swarm of Scrapmetals in, terrorizing a city or something.

So you wanna rumble with Rumble, eh?

How are his piledrivers different than the box? I threw the box away without noticing..

I modded his shoulder pad. It kept falling off, so I drilled a hole all the way through where it attaches and put a pin through it. Works and looks fine, and it isn't falling off ever again.

ha, love that pic, with the boards in the background....and his packaging shows the pointy nobs facing the back when his piledrivers are down, but the toy has them poking forward...or vice versa, since i dont have the toy in front of me....

The only real downside to this guy is the lack of wrist rotation. Oh, and the completely lacking instructions ... I had no idea the sword was removable, or about the pistons.

The transformation is just tricky enough to be satisfying, and the number of features + articulation for a basic are ridiculous. Plus, it's a freakin' spider tank.

    Easy A.

TBH, I wasn't really interested in Scrapmetal. However I got Coby's Ramble through the Sonic Convoy giftset and I'm thoroughly impressed by it! Excellent poseability (in both modes!) and the transformation is nice for a basic.

I found Scrapmetal last sunday and I was so happy. I had finaly found a scrapmetal yay !!! But last night when I was taking a closer look at him I found that the thing that the Pile drivers are attached on had snapped. It must be a deffective unit since I've not heard any snap so hopefully my mom can return him to the store where I bought him and get him replaced.

Scrapmetals make a good homages to Rumble and Frenzy two of soundwave's cassettes minions,They have the pile drivers and turn into spiderlike robots,It's a great figure, lots of possiblilty,it's a necessity to have for Transfans,i have both Red and Yellow, but sadly hasbro, never released it,so it's rare to the blue galaxy Force one, that makes a great Frenzy/Rumble homage.A+ Figure.
