After transforming soundwave for about the 5th time since I got it when originally out I notice that on both legs there is some breakage of plastic.

The side 'flaps' that sit either side of the lower leg have the sections that fold up with that slightly awkward angle cut out that means that as you bring the pieces around for transformation it puts pressure around the pin, unfortunately the plastic has cracked around each pin on both sides.

I think the issue is avoidable but you just have to makes sue that as you bend the sections around you figure out where to bend the joint and hold it firmly, I recall Peaugh in his video review pointing out those sections as being a bit problematic but I was not anticipating such an easy breakage.

Maybe the instructions show it specifically but as it is easy to bend it in the stress inducing way it could be something easily overlooked without care.

I've had four versions of this mold, (TT 1st run, TT 2nd run, Hasbro, Soundblaster) and, even exercising the utmost care, that has happened with every version but Soundblaster. And that was only because I didn't transform him as many times. The tightness of that piece, the thinness of the plastic around the pin. I don't believe there is a safe way to do it. It only snapped on my Takara 1st run, however. The other versions got very minute hairline cracks near the pin.

Stupid question, but I don't have time to go through 40 pages of replies:

How many tapes can he store in his chest? Is it 3 or 4?

Three. Two fit inside the chest, and one sits inside on the door piece

Anyone else think it is BS that such a pricey figure is so fragile? Given that the whole gimmick of these figures is their ability to transform, it's kind of annoying that we have to worry about breaking them during routine transformations...

I just unpacked mine a few days ago. Man, I forgot how much I love this figure, and the bird-tapes.

I do think I'm going to red-foil the visor, though.

This is definitely, by far and away, the best Decepticon MP. I guess what I mean is- he's more accurate, more posable, and more fun then Megs or the seekers.

the die fast feet rock. i'm super impressed with the engineering on the whole package, but there's so many small bits and things to break. i'll probably buy some ko cassettes to fiddle with while the real deals stand on display. hope a ko soundwave comes too.

Barley touched my hasbro version and the chrome on the face buttons shows signs of wear...

Also the under panted feet has been an issue on all versions of this figure. It's just not durable enough for the underside of something in contact with another surface.

Great figure with unfortunate flaws in execution.

So this happened to mine while transforming the other day...

I knew those parts get strained, but I guess I never paid much attention to it before.
Peaugh's video review shows the trouble spot (mine broke when transforming from robot to alt mode):
EDIT: The part in question is at 24:23, but I cannot figure out how to post a time-stamped link on TFW.. the board auto-edits the video..?

I just got the reissue of the tru version and oh my god its amazing!! Everything i hoped it would be and it scales pretty dam well with titans return blaster, even rumble and frenzy scale pretty well with titans return rewind. I love that Lazerbeak fits on DX9 Mightron so thats pretty awesome too. I just gotta find a way to get ratbat.
