Really enjoying mine so far. I got rid of the Takara version shortly after hearing this one was coming out, so its good to get him back again, and all the tapes to boot! While the overall QC seems pretty much exactly the same as Takara's (actually better in some regards - the tapes all have better, cleaner paintjobs), I am wondering about the volume dial on his leg. I thought I remembered the Takara version spinning freely but this one only moves like one or two millimeters. Is it supposed to spin or am I just remembering wrong?

Regardless, I really consider this to be one of the best if not the best Transformer toy ever. I'm a little biased since G1 Soundwave was my favorite back then (and is still my favorite G1 toy). I understand why people prefer the red eyes but for me, a kid who spent far more time with the toys than the cartoon, the yellow eyes are what looks right to me.

Im actually surprised alcohol didn't work for you. Alcohol usually makes factory Hasbro paint fly off easy.

I would guess your using a low % alcohol. if you go to walmart they have a 32oz bottle of 91% for like $2 that takes off ANY factory paint for me with just a few swipes with a Q tip or rag.

Yeah, using the high test medical stuff makes it way easier, plus it's cheap and useful for actual medical purposes.

My wife is a registered nurse. She always leaves a packet or two of alcohol wipes lying around. Maybe for once they will be useful. Thanks for the advice. :)

EDIT: Wife's medical wipes worked like a charm. I always knew that someday her training would come in handy outside of work, but I didn't think it would be to fix sloppily painted toys.

Friggin love this guy. So glad to find it at TRU. No complaints so far except the right hinge on my door has some stress marks. I will have to be careful.

I cant get Frumble's guns in SW feet storage area. I just can't figure it out.

Would you mind listing them? I saw these with Rumble/Frenzy and I've pushed Soundwave's chest storage in, but can't get it pop back out...

Thought the same thing on the left hinge on mine, but they were actually just some weird sprue-marks on closer inspection. Still a bummer, tho.

    anyway,

Well you found two. That silver plug thing also fits on his butt for storage.

Zero mention of the multiple cassette gimmick.
What the heck the grid thing is.
What that silver thing actually is.
That mini Megs comes apart or the fact that it works with the MP seekers.
All the storage and use combinations of Frumbles weapons.
That the birds fit all over him.

    And more that I'm missing.

I honestly don't know. I've never used Future on a TF before. I think as long as your careful and don't slide it around to much you should be fine.

As long as it isn't breaking I'm cool. Seems like the door is well attached overall anyway.

Mines thigh joints were insanely tight when I opened him but after carefully moving them some, they're really very smooth now.

You're right, after working the leg ratchets around two or three times they feel about the same as the Takara version. The tapes have loosened up a bit as well, but my Laserbeak still has scary tight fins. It seems to help to move the fins to a 45 degree angle before moving the thrusters all the way over to his back, them once the thrusters are sitting flat then wrestle the fins that last little bit. I think that minimizes the stress on that joint. Transformed mine 4 times with no breaks.

I'm thinking once I have Laserbeak transformed, he will stay in condor mode. If I break one of the other tapes, I could always replace them with a Takara 2 pack.

Ok, I haven't, and don't plan to ass the whole thread, so if it's mentioned, I'm sorry, but are the hinges on the leg kibble as hard on this version vs the TT version??
