It's Beautiful man... *sniff*. I have got to get this. And here I had just finished telling my nephew that Fortress Maximus was the biggest Transofomer ever made. Guess it's time to update and readjust that view! Wow! Spectacular!
I could've sworn when he was announced that Hasbro said MSRP was going to be $99, same price as YOTS Omega Supreme. I remember reading numerous posts from fans voicing their surprise that such a large figure would go for such a low price, especially when you consider that Hasbro MP Soundwave is supposed to have an MSRP of, I'm sure you'll all correct me if I'm wrong, $129.99 and he's less than half the size of Metroplex.
So in other words, a correctly updated version of he Metroplex I remember from childhood. Except then the hands did have a place to go, they just popped off and went missing in the Lost Dimension of the Detatchable Fists.
All I can say is WOW,.... I soooooooo want 1 sooooooooo bad. I am just glad that I have been saving for this big boy for sure. The pics are amazing and THANK YOU my friend for sharing with all of us. I know 1 of them will be coming home to my house for sure but I still dont know WHO is going to get this big boy to sell for retail. Is it TRU or the other 2 retailers. If it is TRU then I am going to have to try and get online then cause I have no TRU near me.
I dunno. G1 Metroplex looks much better in 'city' mode. The new one just looks like it's sitting down with one arm out, kinda derpy. The new 'battlestation' mode I think is the best. And finally G1 Fort Max is still the biggest transformer ever made. This new Metroplex is tall and spindly, not a massive piece of plastic like Fort Max!!
I've not seen it mentioned before, but I'm sure that sign on the box means "Biggest Autobot Ever" as opposed to biggest TF ever. Tis why I've had a strong belief in seeing a Deceptivon of equal height.
Is his face white or silver? The new city mode looks really bad. What was wrong with the arms turning into towers? Visible fists on a $100 dollar toy? Not cool.
I don't like the way he looks one little bit. I don't like either of his 'alt'-modes (and I have to use that term loosely, 'cause both his alt-modes like like junk), and I don't like his robot mode. To be honest, this Metroplex is not even a disappointment, because nothing I'd seen of him previously made him look good anyhow. Sure, he's tall, but that's the only thing he's got going for him. Actually, even that works against him, because his hollow legs make him top heavy, and he needs to lean again stuff to do most active poses. And 'biggest Transformer ever'... Sorry guys, but the Fortress Max mold is still the most massive TF ever: pointing guns at the sky is the only reason this guy is taller than than FM. This is a very, very, easy pass for me (as it was from the first moment I saw him).
REally what we need to see is him in the most complex pose he can hold. If he honestly can just stand there with 1 knee bent, and has such poor alt modes, then Pyramidas is going to remain the tallest figure in my collection.
Looks cool. My Year of the Snake Omega Supreme may have given me all I need in the way of giant Autobots, though.
I think it's a first for G1-oriented stuff? I know we've seen ∞ in other lines (I'm pretty sure one of the Unicrons, the Fallen in RotF). That's...part of the point of the Masterpiece line though. Very dynamic and posable versions of the transforming toys from the '80s. Hence Masterpiece. If G1's not your thing anymore that's fine, but I'm not sure what else the Masterpiece line is supposed to do for you.
omg! bigups for the review!! glad i got an order in for the takara version was thinking of canceling until i see this
tcracker said he heard hastak are planning on doing more titans so i would say a very good chance of us seeing trypticon in the same scale
