i'm okay with the wings actually. what bothers me is the front section of the boat which they couldve designed to fold up.

I looooove Chromia. She's a great Sweeps homage, she has really amazing articulation, excellent proportions, nice colors, the only thing I dont like are her hands; they look almost organic. I don't mind the shell because she looks great in both modes, and the shell ends up looking like cool Scourge wings. A great TF for $10, no doubt. And a female Decepticon, pretty cool.

Ever feel like 75% of the fandom takes things absolutely for granted? Especially around HERE? These have to be the most snobbish, cold, elitist, complaining boards around. I quit posting here forever, and it's threads like this that I did. "Oh, but she's a shell"...."her colors aren't 100% show accurate"

    ...whahhhhhhhhh

I swear; did people up and forget about nightmares like Armada wave 2 or something? JEEZ!

Just because a toy is better than some toys of the past, doesn't mean it gets an automatic stamp of approval. I tend to give most TF toys my love (even Backstop, in his own way), but I just don't feel it with Chromia. Nothing snobbish, cold or elitist about pointing these things out.

As for criticisms, that goes with writing critiques. I love Evac. I gushed over Evac. I put him on my top 10 list. But that doesn't mean that my write up had to ignore the short cord.

I sugggest you re-read the threads in this forum. For most toys, you'll find a lot of praise, and I suggest you focus on that as much as the negative remarks. If you can't, and if this really bothers you so much, maybe you need to revisit your vow to quit this board forever.

Quite frankly, it's your post that comes across as snobbish and spoiled. Most people here have been able to post their comments - good or bad - without getting in a huff over those who disagreed.

It's a fine line, considering she's also a toy boat.

I actually really like Thunderblast. It's articulated, the colors aren't hideous and I think it's a pretty cool head sculpt. Yes, it's a shellformer, but honestly I don't think there's been a shellformer I haven't liked. As least they've all been nicely articulated. Plus, I think the 'wings' made my the boat parts enhance the overall look...awesome.

I don't like the name Thunderblast so I'm going to call it Fathom.

    A from me.

Finally was able to get Thunderblast. I really like it/her. I don't think the boat frame really looks like a boat on her back. I know it is and looking at it you can eventually figure it out but the same could be said for a lot of car TFs (I know different pats form the legs etc but Thunderblasts legs help form the hull and tip of the boat). I like how the sides have that extra joint for the "wings". If that wasn't there then it would make it look just like she had a boat on her back, but since the hull folds up like that it makes a huge difference in my opinion. I also like that shes not stuck with the same old fist that almost all Tfs have.

I didn't read the instuctions so I hadn't noticed at first that she has a hinge to lower the "wing" parts when shes in bot mode. which makes her more stable and less back heavy and also allows you to use the tips as support for some nice diving/firing poses.

I'll get this outta the way first: my Thunderblast is defective. She has two left arms -- and unlike the usual post-in-hole hands, she has sculpted hands, so it's really, REALLY obvious.

Yeah, I could cover it up with the ginormous missile launcher, but it still looks FREAKY. Probably gonna return or exchange it tomorrow.

Now the toy. Glad someone mentioned the hidden back joint that lets you lower the boat wings -- because without that, she is COMPLETELY INCAPABLE OF STANDING UP ON HER OWN. It's a painfully obvious design flaw with the feet -- the heels are too short, and the feet snap into place, so they can't be tweaked for a better standing angle. It's a complete design failure, and should've been caught on the drawing board.

The only way I can make her stand without propping her on the lowered boat wings is by having her hold her missile launcher -- and even then, it's really touchy. If you extend her arm all the way out holding the launcher, she falls on her face.

I do not mind her being a shellformer -- she's obviously meant to be a female Sweep, and she carries off the look very well. The problem is that none of that means squat if she can't freakin' stand. (See: Jetfire).

She does look good in both modes, mostly. Unlike Energon Mirage, her boat mode is pure boat -- no wheels here. The dark purple looks awesome, as does the gold. Unfortunately, the lighter purple used for her "matrix" chest and the two spots on the boat looks out of place -- and mine shipped partially scraped off on the chest. So much for QC.

The Cyber Key is completely out of place, as usual. If you don't insert it all the way, it falls out. If you insert it and leave it in, then Thunderblast can't hold the weapon without her arm fuly extended, which causes the arm to swing around wildly, and makes her fall on her face.

I really, really want to like Thunderblast ... but it boggles the mind how something as simple as her NOT BEING ABLE TO STAND could be overlooked. I wonder if they added in the boat wing joint as a last-minute "whoops"; either way I'm tempted to not bother with an exchange and just get my money back.

    Final Grade: D

I just got my Thuderblast a couple days ago and I really like her overall. Nice color scheme. I'm still not sure about the whole "shellformer" thing, but I like the way her "wings" are posable, it reminds me of Depthcharge. Plus I like that she's a boat.
And oddly I have to admit to wondering about the whole "would she float in the bathtub" too. She does make a good snow angel though. It was a nice day so I was out on my deck transforming her. I set her down to have some Gatorade when a big gust of wind blew he off the deck and into the melting snow below. She was a bit wet and I had to reattach her arm, but otherwise none the worse for wear. And she made a snow angel impression from her fall.

Actually I think Thunderblast stands up rather well. The more triangular shape of her feet make her much steadier, an improvement over Energon Arcee who keep falling over. Also if her arm sags too much from her big gun, bent her arm slightly and let the lip on the underside of her cyber key hook her shoulder. That should help.

Final Grade: Given her lack of tranformation, she might have made a better scout class than basic, but female transformers are a rare treat, and figs of them are even rarer. She has a great alt mode. She suffers a little too much from kibble on her back (kinda like Cybertron Blurr) but the wings are fun to pose and give her a nice silhoette.

I just got her. All I want to add is that her boat should be able to snap off of her back so she could hold it in her hand as a weapon. It would suck to get smacked over the top of the head by a swinging boat.

Well, one way or another, HasTak has quite the reputation for taking large parts of alt mode that they don't know what to do with, and randomly putting a handle on it so the 'bot can hold it. :D

Not as cool as I thought she would be. The transformation is kind of cheesy. I like the ship mode but the bot mode looks kind of funny. At least the articulation is decent.

I'll have a new one (though Thunderblast-free) a little later in the month, FWIW.
