I sold Warbot Defender to get this guy as replacement.

Seeing this made me unsure if I made the right decision.

Luckily it turned out that my apprehension was unfounded. You can lock the calves to make the legs more straight.

Yep, as you can see, this guy is better than WD on all fronts. :)

Now to rate him based on criteria that matter to most of us. Using a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being perfect.

Robot mode: 9. My only complaint is that, yeah, his lower legs could use more bulk. But in some angles, they don't look as thin as they are, so no biggie. And this guy is SOLID, as in no visible hollowness. No kibble too. HIS WEAPONS ARE AWESOME!

Alt modes: 9. Issues? Maybe that there are some panel gaps in car mode, but most probably I just mistransformed him. Both alt modes are definitely better than WD's, or any other version of Springer.

Transformation: 10. Fun, not too simple but not overly complicated as well. Very intuitive, too.

Build quality: 9. Tight joints. Ratchets on the elbows and knees. Plastic feels the best we've had in the past 2 or 3 lines. There's none of that soft, translucent-y feel that FOC Grimlock or Blaster have. My only complaints are some paint apps are not perfect (yeah, because I demand perfection).

Articulation: 9. He has everything except ankle tilts. F ankle tilts.

OVERALL: 9. Generations Springer is a must-have. He's one of the best figures we've had in a long while. He's very well designed and engineered. Get him even if you already have WD. DEFINITELY get him if you're a Wreckers fan.

Now for the money shot. BOO-YAH!

Now I just need Sandstorm and Rack n' Ruin and I can die happy. :)

    EDIT:

I just noticed that the missiles and sword are made of the same soft plastic. It's not a big deal, just an FYI.

He looks fantastic. I don't even care much for the character (not hate, just don't care) but I'm tempted to get this.

    Thanks for the great review.

I guess I'll be keeping my preorder now.

    Did you get Blitzwing too?

I am LOVING the fact that he's tall, but still a head shorter than Fansproject Assaulter. Can't wait!

Wow. If I didn't know he was a triplechanger, I probably wouldn't have guessed it from his car mode. (The same would be true of helicopter mode except for the wheels not being completely covered, and the really ugly undercarriage.)

That said, I can't wait to get this guy! He looks fantastic, and I'm super relieved to hear that the plastic quality seems to be getting better again. I hate the fragile feel of the past couple lines. It gives me some hope that Metroplex won't be a brittle POS.

Thanks for the gallery and review!

Thanks guys! I hope you get yours soon. :)

Yeah, I just posted another thread for him. Not too happy with that figure, though...

im super impressed by what they pulled off here and they are big voyagers

he looks like the most solid figure whe have had since the early classics designs which is really impressive when you consider its a tripple changer. It really doesnt seem that much was sacrificed for either mode

look forward to getting one of my own

I know you said he has all articulation besides ankle tilts, but it does n't look like his waist turns. Does it?

I already own Defender, but am eager to see what this would look like with a Sandstorm redeco/retool.
