Wow, was this really two years ago? Time needs to SLOW DOWN.

And yeah, this guy is still the best triple-changer Hasbro ever made by a longshot. None of the recent figures come close. All three modes are so good!

Hey, hate to pull up a dead thread but I'm wondering if anyone else is having trouble with this figure. I got him back when he came out, loved him for years. I play with my toys, transform them a lot, but I'm very careful. Never had a breakage issue (except TR Weirdwolf's cockpit hinge which was inevitable for everyone).

I don't know what the hell happened here. A few years back, the yellow plastic on the transformation joint on his right chest piece partially came off:

I honestly cannot remember how this happened, I think it just sort of fell off one day for no reason. I shrugged it off and left him in robot mode for years.

Tonight I pulled him down and decided to try giving the transformation a whirl. I just pulled off that side chest piece, figuring I could reattach it at the end. That was okay. When I flipped up the center chest piece for alt mode, this happened:

Again, I'm very gentle. Didn't handle this figure with any more force than I do normally with any others, or with his retools. This isn't even connected to the previous issue in any way. This wasn't a snap either, this felt crumbly like it was a long time coming.

Just wondering if anyone else is having breakage issues with this toy. I'm really disappointed because this one has a lot of sentimental value to me. I'm wary of replacing it now if they're all gonna end up like this. Maybe I just got screwed.

That really sucks. I’ve got a Generations Springer I’m looking to offload if you’re looking to replace him.

Sorry this happened to you but thanks for sharing.

It seems like there was nothing you could have done to prevent this so the rest of us can only hope that you got a bum copy. If this turns out to be a common problem, it will go down as one of the most beloved figures to have a fatal materials flaw, right up there with Transmetal Megatron.

Sorry to resurrect a year old topic, but I didn't want to clog up any other threads- I'll try to make it a good post with a lot of pictures and feedback!

I had been deciding on whether or not to get this Springer for quite some time even though he's my favorite Autobot - I was just not a big fan of his IDW appearance compared to the movie+ design. I managed to get it for a decent price, and I just got it opened up and looked at tonight.

    PSX_20210313_202712.jpg

Opening him up, I immediately noticed some of the floppy parts on the figure such as the shoulder pads and calf hinges. With no where for the to really lay flush against anything or tab in, it was just something I would have to deal with every time I wanted to pose it. Little things like that- constantly having to adjust the plastic, is something that has always kind of annoyed me. Regardless, it looked really good.

So of course me, being the best transformation master and having plenty of experience transforming these figures, I decided to see what the car mode and helicopter mode looked like. Both of them were average to me. But remember, I'm still learning, so its possible there are tabs or specific movements I missed. Still, the helicopter "wings" didn't have a place to tab in, so they had a lot of trouble staying flush, I could not for the life of me, get the gun to plug in with the copter, and the lower back plate would not tab in or sit flush as well.

Car mode was a little better in my opinion and looked a little better as well. Things seemed to fall in place a little better for me , but I will say both transformations were very simple to understand and the instructions made it pretty clear to me how to change it, which is rare since I'm so bad at understanding the instructions. Lol

My big thing is posing figures. I love to pose them and take pictures, so being able to do that can make any bad alternate mode forgiven when the bot mode looks good. I really do think Springer was pretty good in terms of posing and I had very few balancing issues or
Problems with Springer holding up his weapons. Here are some shots:

    PSX_20210313_202946.jpg
    PSX_20210313_203136.jpg

The nitpicks I have with the figure are few and I really appreciate the bot mode most of all. Its a good Springer to have on your shelf and an interesting take on the character. A few of the other offerings I saw such as Doubledealer, Sandstorm, and Whirl, I say Springer looks the best and the most detailed/aesthetically pleasing out of the majority of them.

    Here's my little breakdown:

    Character Appeal- 8/10
    Posing: 8/10
    Price/Value: 10/10
    Alt Modes: 6/10
    Funability: 9/10
    Overall: 8/10

A very nice pickup, but since its an older figure, It seems to be going online for about $40+ brand new and $20-30 used. Even being my favorite bot, $40 would be a steep price, but the $30 was the sweet spot for pricing IMO. Thanks for reading!

You have to extend the pads and angle them outwards for them to lock. Figure was 25 USD when first released. The is the best Springer even beating the one from Siege

I'll go further - it's in with a realistic shout of being the best voyager class figure committed to plastic.

The mold in general was and still is pretty fantastic. It was originally intended for Sandstorm. Springer was actually the Repaint/Retool all along. they just released him first.

Both toys were so much fun and just perfect.

I miss both of them so much. sadly they along with my massive collection had to be broken apart and sold off to pay for bills at the time.

So many pieces i'll never get back due to nasty markups but that's ok. i still have all my photos and my memories.

Even if the Siege mold is more cartoon accurate, this one beats it for me by a country mile in terms of looks and playability.

I especially love the later Legends redeco by Takara in cartoon colours, which really make the mold pop and fit right in with other 86 figures.

i have both, the original generations and the takara legends(which i gave a vector prime sword i bought) and it looks perfect, i still want the siege mold but havent seen one at a discount here in years, seriously there are 2 and they even increased the price a bit
anyway, the takara legends colors, i know many people disliked the bright green but i just love how it looks
