Tape door screens wondering on the images for the tape door I know what scene the the ship is from but what about the other one
Thanks, Kaotica! After having this guy for a few years, my nitpicks about the package are: - The style of hinge joints used on Laserbeak's wings (one's cracked around the pin, even though I've carefully transformed him a handful of times) and Soundwave's leg kibble (not cracked yet, but I've seen other guys report cracking and breakage around those pins) - The bottoms of his feet. They're part of the alt mode and painted at that. Even after posing him carefully, after a few years and putting him through many poses, they're scuffed to hell. - His legs. Their aesthetics are a bit too blocky and stiff for my taste. What I'd love is if he could buckle his knees like Optimus, Shockwave, Ironhide, Tracks, and many others. - The transform scheme is a bit boring. It does the job but there's no "wow" factor like I get from guys Bumblebee, Ultra Magnus, and Ironhide. - No forward foot articulation. Always helps with posing. Other than that, this guy is pure win. Great finish and some of the best gimmicks, accessories, and one of the best head sculpts in the entire line. Really hoping they give him the + treatment for grey feet and a blue tinted tape door.
He breaks a lot? Haven't heard much about that. He still stands as one of the most perfect MP IMO. He's not my favorite, but he hits all the right notes. He IS my favorite Decepticon MP though.
It's Laserbeak you'll have to be careful with. Mine has a broken wing hinge because of how thin it is so I'll have to replace him whenever I get the chance.
My fav Soundwave,I'll surely buy him for this Spring. As weight is a lot heavier than MP Shockwave? Then,I've heard that some joints at legs are very weak as design. If I just move a little joints of knees and upper part of legs for some poses(without transforming in alt mode) could I break something after a while(so making bot collapse on his legs?)? Thanks so much for your help
He's actually quite a bit lighter to my hand than Shockwave is. Shockwave has that extra chunk of metal is his gunbarrel armature/spine, while Soundwave only has it in the feet. On top of that, Soundwave's major gimmick hinges on his torso being a big hollow cavity. Haven't heard anything about weak leg joints. Mine holds poses just like he was new. In fact, I sanded down his forward leg ratchets slightly because they were a bit over tight out of package.
I just received the reissue today, and the packaging has a very subtle update: The break-prone kibble on his outer calves seem like they have slightly more "play" than my Hasbro version, which broke recently. Yet it looks like pretty much the same build; identical pieces. I'll be super careful with this one, but we'll see..
I love MP Soundwave but my major problem with him is just the feet that scuff, as everyone else has already mentioned. Had some chrome coming off the buttons, too, unfortunately, and I still have yet to find Future over here. Still not as bad as discovering that the Transformers on my shelving in my wardrobe have yellowed to hell in recent months. THAT is legitimately depressing.
I got my reissue Soundwave in yesterday. Does anyone else have a tone of sprue marks on theirs? The plastic in general seems off, though I never had the original release to compare it to; the index finger on his right hand popped right off, and it just seems a bit wonky overall.
Just got my first Soundwave too....nothing else to compare to. Having said that, I will say, my red eyes are f'ed up a bit. Terrible paint job, it's blobbed up in some areas. Looks like I'm going to take it apart and repaint it myself, kinda negating the entire reason for going with Takara's version. Also, on the thigh of mine, it seems too be missing some silver paint, odd because you can't really tell in some light, but in dim light, you can totally see it. It's a very small spot, but nonetheless. Otherwise, pretty dope figure. I can see what all the hype is about. EDIT: I'm updating my own thread, in case others seek out some advice on this "eye" topic. Turns out, the paint job wasn't necessarily the issue, it was the clear red plastic piece over the chromey piece that was. It had a ton of imperfections in it, and a total lack of red paint, so those two things coupled together looked horrendous when placed together. I took off the clear, poorly painted red visor part and sanded down all the bumps and imperfections, then hit up with some gloss red spray paint. Reinstalled and now it's perfect. More than perfect actually. Kinda silly I had to do this when Takara was the "red eye" option to begin with.
For anyone just now getting MP Soundwave's reissue and transforming laserbeak here is a tip. Grab the top of the thrusters on the wings and turn them slightly in the opposite direction before turning them slightly in the proper direction for transformation. Repeat this a few times going more in each direction each time. Don't force it. This will loosen the joint thats overly tight from the paint. You have way less chance of the wing snapping if you do it this way. Also hold the wings on both sides. Don't use the top of the wing to just push the part in place because that's what causes most breaks in the wing area.
