Same here - and in regard to the customs charge, another £17 for an item not domestically retailing in the UK. Almost half of that fine is Parcel Force's "clearance fee". By the way, if you really want to annoy yourself considering just how arbitrary customs charges are, remember that it has nothing to do with size, weight, origin (let alone the actual goods). Customs charges are purely bad luck as to which shipments get quarantined after the notice goes out that office X needs to hit their quota that month. For which they earn a commission.
Yeaaaaah SW is my favorite tf EVER. This is the guy I save when the house is on fire I can only pick one. (picking him over mp-10, 12 and 3, all the movie leaders and alternities and custom transformers, including a Classics Menasor)
Mine has the aforementioned visor bubbles. They look like pupils, which you can't notice unless you're scrutinizing the figure up-close. They don't really bother me. Maybe I'll take the head apart and see if there's a way to remedy them.
I'm pretty sure those "bubbles" are on everyones. Mine has the exact same size "bubbles" on both sides of the visor, so it looks like they are meant to be there. Also, has anyone found a good gold yet to touch up the paint? I have Testors Metallic Gold but it doesn't match at all.
It seems that a coat of Testors/Model Master chrome silver followed by another coat of Tamiya clear yellow will do the trick.
Nope, eyes on mine are perfect, he does have a little nick on the left of his face plate but I'm not losing any sleep over it.
This seems to be a trend. Sadly, any legit complaints - there's bound to be some, it's a mass-produced toy - get swept up in some tide of whinging. I'm not sure if it's to try and prove what high collector credentials people have, or if there's just a number of seemingly spoilt & easily frustrated people who get very affronted by insignificant things. Maybe both. It's much like the constant whining about anything costing more than about 25 dollars in the US (regardless of what it is or where it's from), which also, sadly, seems to have become "a thing". Laugh at it, don't let it colour your view Any reasonable complaints and points can always be discerned. On the internets, the negative is often popular.. *ends speech * ... and having paid my customs charge (bah), I now await delivery of my own MP-13 QCDisasterWave!
Why? Just because I paid for it doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see it cheaper. I don't like paying $4+ for gas.. But I paid for it.. No right to complain there either? Sure the money to buy soundwave comes from disposable income, as we're buying a plastic toy.. But doesn't mean I wouldn't want my disposable income to stretch further and get more unneccessary toys with it. Just I value soundwave above other things.
anyone else notice the panels on the inside of his feet open up? any ideas as to why, it looks like storage for something it may have been brought up already but 18 pages is a lot to go through
i freakin love this guy...so cool....thankfully i had no issues with him....havent preordered the other cassettes though....50$ for each 2-pack seems a bit too much for me....and i dont want buzzsaw either...hm....
Got mine. Qc is perfect. Here's the thing: He is the perfect size and perfect likeness. He has the perfect finish. His alt mode works perfectly from 4 of the 6 sides, so that's all good. There really is nothing that they could have done better. None of that stops this from being a regular $30 ultra toy plus extra paint. Spoiler: It has less than $170 worth of paint on it. If there ever was a toy to skip the import and get the cheaper local version, it is this. Too much money for not enough toy.
MY MP soundwave arrived today and I am also impressed with both soundwave and laserbeak. I see what looks like paint chip areas on laserbeak although it sounds like that is common. I have the other feature with soundwave where the part of the figure can easily come off.
Gas is a necessity item (or can be considered one). Soundwave is a luxury item. Your comparison is in a very different context. If you're on the fence about purchasing him I can understand that price factors in and can give you a headache. If, after purchasing, you still complain "oh oh he's so expensive" you shouldn't have bought him. Also, I have him and I also wish he were cheaper, but you don't hear me complain about it. Those are two different things. To me, complaining about it feels like marrying a woman with three eyes and then complain about the three eyes.
Arrived this morning! QC issues - none. However, now I've got it in hand, I can see how hard some have been trying to identify features of the production and paint as "issues" To those on the fence over buying it, due to these so-called issues.. Hip joints: These do not feel in any way fragile, at no point while posing the legs did I feel the toy would shatter into tiny pieces. There are, however, acceptably secure & precise, which is what you'd want. Shabby paint: mine has some slight furring on the underside lip of the gold trim round the top right corner of the chest door. If I really look for it up close. From a distance of more than 1 foot away, it's invisible to the eye. The flashing down one far side of the mouthpiece: Again, invisible unless I stick my face up in there. It is there - tho it's also been corrected with an additional paint application, which suggests it was an issue which was already spotted, and is actually touched up pretty well for a mass production job. The "eyeballs". These are clearly a feature of how the visor is attached. They are unnoticeable. Unless you put your face a centimeter away and angle him towards the light as you do it. The underside of the feet: Yes, I'm afraid these will undoubtedly scratch if you like sliding him about. Avoid displaying on sandpaper. Laserbeak's paint: There's some extremely minor bleed across panels/joints & some blotchiness & visible brush strokes, on the cassette face side. Again, however, it helps if you're looking for it in good light, and looking fairly close. It's a mass-produced toy, so be wary that there will unfortunately be some with genuine faults (things broken, missing, fingers predisposed to popping off etc) or sucky paint, which is a bummer. In my experience - individual, but I'm also an old bugger - any decent retailer, physical or online, will replace a duff item. But equally, I put money on mine being representative of the majority of the run. Unless I have a perfect example - unlikely - take the QC issues with a pinch of salt. Oh, and it's awesome Photos not quite doing it justice, in the way that photos sometimes don't (and mostly, the photos look bloody great).
Mine arrived during the week but I only got chance to open him this morning. WOW !!! It's a really amazing piece of engineering and a fantastic rendition of one of the most popular Transformers from my childhood. The mold is spot on - I love the way it looks in 'bot mode as well as alt mode. And some point this weekend, I will have to get him in my studio and take some nice photos of him. The only downsides to my copy are: - The silver paint on his left cheek shows signs of wear. Not a big deal but a pain nonetheless. - The Megatron gun was broken out of the box. When I say broken what I mean is that the sight on the top can be removed and one of the two pieces of plastic that fit on the inside of the sight and make up the peg that it attaches to, was snapped off of the main gun body. This will be fixed with some super glue soon so not a huge problem. I love how poseable Soundwave is. It's gonna be great messing around with him. Condor is another feat of engineering. I seriously can't believe that it all fits into that tiny cassette. Outstanding. And as I type the postman has just delivered my Hasbro MP-10... great start to a weekend
