Mine was in pretty much perfect shape with just a tiny bit of silver smudged on his crest (that was easily removed with alcohol and a cotton ear swab). Due to his transformation, some of the silver on the sides of Laserbeak's guns is doomed to scratch against the red during transformation, so I simply sanded off and polished that section to now be black and it looks great! By the way, has anyone yet translated the Japanese in his instruction booklet on the page with the black and white drawing of Soundwave?
Tried my best, with some photoshop lazors to help! Also, some people asked about the Megatron gun versus previous version. I digged out my MP-04 to compare them (sorry for the not-so-good pictures); MP-04 on top, MP-13 bottom (hard to see but the MP-04 one has a button painted red on the scope); MP-04 on right, MP-13 on left; So the size of the gun is identical, the only altered part is the back of the grip handle and the attached stock. The new handle is slimmer with a additional hinge, the stock is not hard plastic and cylindricical with no detail, and the end of the stock (that thing probably have a name) is also much smaller now.
Amazon.com: Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpieces MP-13 "Soundwave" (Japan Import): Toys & Games ive ordered before from them and good, price might seem high but all preorders everywhere are 185 and up, so take your chances.
Toothpaste works on your teeth because of it's abrasive properties.. that said.. you'll probably scratch his window more if you try
Doing a light wipe with Future might help. Might also be a good way to protect the bottoms of his feet.
No eye chips here. Mine has a slight smudge/bubble on one of the gray areas on Laserbeak, but it's so minor that I didn't worry with it. The rest of mine looks good. Although the arms on mine seem loose. They don't "flop" about, but they move VERY freely. I'm very happy with it overall but if anyone has a trick to tighten the arms, I might employ it.
Pic?? Mine has "bubbles" in the eyes which end up looking like eyeballs due to the way the visor pegs into the head by the looks of it.
Yeah I got the bubbles on each side of his eyes too. Is that cement or something? I see it in people's pics though. I'll take a pic of the chip when I get home.
Got my Soundwave in. I haven't transformed him yet, but I've messed with the robot mode for a few days now. Laserbeak is almost as amazing, if not more, due to the engineering in him. LB has quite a bit of paint slop, as if he was assembled and transformed while the paint was still wet (so it stuck on itself) but that doesn't bother me as much as... ...Soundwave's left "cheek" where the faceplate was cut off the sprue. Some folks have a crescent-shaped piece missing, while mine has almost a crescent-shaped scratch there. Bugs the shit out of me because it's on his face. I'm sure there are other paint flaws elsewhere, but overall the figure seems fine except for that, and light scratches on his upper left thigh (came like that fresh from the box, it wasn't from wear/tear). I debated contacting BBTS about it, but it sounds like it's a problem on a lot of Soundwaves? I'll see if I can get a photo to show from my iPhone. I tried to earlier and the silver wouldn't photograph well under natural light, but in my head it's worse than on others.
Here's a blurry pic. It was either blurry and in the dark, or blown out in the light and you couldn't see it. Anyways, I think you can see it:
Yeah, I didn't realize that till I found this thread and read some of the others. They don't all seem to be as bad, though. Granted, some are even worse than mine. It bugs me since it's on his face, in a conspicuous spot where the asymmetry is so obvious. It's just like I wasn't that irritated when I got a ding in the right-hand side of my car, but the second I got a ding in the driver's side fender, it bugs the shit out of me since I see it every time I get in my car.
There's some REALLY visible flashing on this masterpiece for one reason or another. Considering MP Soundwave was already delayed in December, it's possible they ran into some serious QC problems we don't even know about during the production/assembly. Was MP Soundwave rushed? Well...it's possible. Who knows? My MP Soundwave isn't perfect by any means, but none of the nicks and bruises really bothers me.
