Yes. I thought that when I transformed him the first time. I just avoid applying any pressure to it now.
I had that fear when the first official color Soundwave was shown. I'll definitely be putting something under his feet once I got mine this weekend. Hopefully 3rd party would design a console with pegs to plug into those holes so it's doesn't scratch his paint app.
Mine came in about two hours ago, Paint looks awesome save for a single little spot on the back of the arm. I love how you can fit up to three Cassetticons in his chest cavity without having a door that juts out from his chest, Right now I have his Laserbeak as well as G1 Frenzy and Ravage tucked away. WAY way cool that I can fit the G1 Cassettes in there as well as the MP Laserbeak. Soundwave himself is so solidly built, He stands up better than MP-10 and the Masterpiece Seekers. While I wish he could have stored his weapons in his "Battery Compartment" like on the G1 toy, I'm okay with tabbing the Rifle on his back and the fact that one can rotate his "Concussion blaster" around and fold it back, is awesome. The only thing I'm not loving about MP soundwave are the hands... you know, I still don't like the Friction peg-enforced Knuckle hinges, they kind of make it more possible for one to lose the index fingers on a nearly $200 toy. Overall, this is probably THE BEST Soundwave figure ever.
I havent transformed mine yet but just wanna say to people who might be nervous about buying SW because of qc, mine seems to be flawless. So there IS a chance of getting a good one. Dont get me wrong though, im deffinitly not defending TT. I have a big scratch on my Sideswipe and I bought a Hot Rod from the first wave so I am not without issues. For such expensive figures it is total bs. Especially with the recent MPs because they are so amazing that it makes any flaws completely terrible.
The hips joint certainly don't feel good, but my friend and I love the toy. F*ck rearward leg movement!
Yeah, this is pretty much expected with every MP release but I'm sure they'll make adjustments within the next waves and the people who want to wait for the Hasbro version can keep reiterating it til' then
considering the paint on his feet is in imminent danger of scrapping off, does anyone know of a good match to fill it back in, like any particular sharpie, or gundam marker or such?
Just noticed the red paint is really thin on Lazerbeak, plus another blotch of silver paint on SW's face... I guess this is the new Takara we have to deal with.
Testors/Model Master Chrome Silver perhaps? They have a few different shades that I've successfully used to match up with factory silver. But I'm wondering if clear-coating the feet would actually help.
I'm no painter, but I'd consider doing a clear coat if it would solve the problem. The paint on the feet have me treating this guy more like a Hot Toys figure than a Transformer. Don't wanna do shit with him for fear of fucking his paint up.
Just got mine in. Could have been in better shape, but all in all it's pretty good. 1. Fine scratches in the silver on the left arm. 2. Small blotch/scratch thing on the mouthpiece 3. Left side of mouthpiece has a defect. Basically it isn't straight like the other side. Probably due to molding issues, or flashing could have been cut off aggressively. 4. Fine scratches on the tape deck door. 5. Right shoulder halves won't sit flush. Picked out some flashing from the gap. Probably the reason. To fix I would have to unpin the shoulder flap, remove the two screws, and investigate. All five are minor gripes, and you have to hold it in hand to notice any of them. It just makes it look like someone owned it prior instead of it being factory fresh. Another thing, and I'm not sure if it's qc or just a design flaw. But does anyone's SW looked bowed? I noticed this while looking at the bottom of it while in alt mode, and it just seemed like the whole thing had an arch to it rather than being straight and square. Also, to make the leg pieces look as though they're flush with the legs you can rotate the bottom most part. It eliminates the tiny gap, and you can't notice it isn't squared with the leg unless you look at it from the rear.
Got mine today. The right leg wont line up with his left. It's ether angled back or forward. I took the thigh apart to try to fix it but I think the gear in his hip is miss molded. I contacted BBTS about getting a replacement part but I don't think they'll get back to me until Monday.
IDK - There's a heck of lot less plastic on MP SW. Possibly more paint if they keep it though. Hard to say, depends on how many minions. If they incude all 3 sure $90 to $100. If only one, I'd say <$80. (Pure speculation on my part).
My biggest problem is the scratches on the plastic window. Does anyone know if they can be removed somehow? I heard soapy water or white toothpaste might do the trick. Might give it a go.
after having my soundwave for nearly a week and after multiple and rigorous transformations, he still holds up nicely. color me impressed. i have not been this impressed since mp-10
