First off, this isn't so much a review as a list of first impressions. Mostly I'll just add to things that we already knew from previously posted pics. Feel free to add your thoughts once you have him in hand.

My opinion, in a nutshell: An AWESOME figure that is well worth its price.

    Now for details.

He's HUGE, as you well know. A good 13.5 inches from foot to top of head, in this pose.

Head sculpt is awesome, as we already know. By the way, in my opinion the head is just the right size. But eh, to each his own. Just be careful prying open the head canopy, it's a bit difficult and tight.

Yes, it seems that the head does not detach, but rather tucks into the train torso half during transformation.

The claw legs (?) have independent joints at two points each, so can be posed separately.

What I don't like about this is that there's no way for the claw to grab stuff since there are no ratchets in the joints. Additionally, the mid joint does not use a pin, just pegs and holes, so the front half of a claw leg may fall off if handled too strongly. Can be easily reattached, though.

By the way, the part of the forearm where the claw is attached rotates freely, so you can create some sort of drill effect.

I've seen a review of Energon Omega Supreme that says the figure can't hold any pose because he's too heavy. I don't know what's different with YOTS Omega (I never had or was able to handle the Energon version), but he can pretty much handle any pose I subject him to. The only detriment to posing that I can find is--say it with me--NO ANKLE TILTS!

Sarcasm aside, his joints are very tight, but not so tight that it feels like something is breaking.

Like I said, he's HUGE. And no matter how big a fan I am of Giant, I have to admit that Herc would be a more formidable foe for this Omega.

And the obligatory high kick. Now now many figures are able to high kick the top of Overlord's head?

Finally, from what I've seen so far, paint job is top notch.

I'm not feeling transforming this dude yet. I'm still enjoying what his bot mode can offer too much. Suffice it to say that I am very satisfied with this figure so far. I'm glad that I bought him; he definitely has a place in my collection.

No man, I already have two Energon Optimus Primes, one combined with Wing Saber. I won't be able to handle another one, lol

Have you fiddled with your Omega yet? Give us a heads up if you encounter anything wonky. But so far so good...

It seems like you really dont need another one, and i understand lols. i dont think ill open them anytym soon, but the thing that excites me is both toy is still unknown to me i never had any versions of them. i was supposed to skip prime but i cant resist to have them both especially with the packaging, was also surprised with the weight of prime. but one thing is for sure im happy with both of them.

He does man. Kinda feel bad for Project Genesis, though.

I think you won't be disappointed if you do decide to open them, even with Prime. Especially since this version look better than the original. Colors are more cohesive, and more "Prime."

And yeah, keeping these sets MISB is something to think about, given the excellent packaging. But I had to have him in hand, it's my first experience with the mold.

Left foot actually has a slight ankle tilt. HA!

The instructions are kinda crappy. Sorry for the stupid question, but how do I switch on the left arm's light and sounds gimmick?

    EDIT:

I think they fucking neutered the guy. I tried to access his battery compartment, and lo and behold, a weirdly shaped screw notch that does not fit any of my screwdrivers. Not cool Hasbro. Definitely NOT COOL.

I was going to ask if this have the same light up gimmick like the older version but even the reviewers didnt really bother how the gimmick works. also is it really a battery compartment? with a screw notch like that? tnx for keeping updated with this figure interested with your progess on the review.

I'm pretty confident that it is the battery compartment because the other side of the forearm here (side that is visible in this pic)

is where the speaker is, or is supposed to be.

    Ebay:

Holy shit!! Did they really do that?!?! that's like locking the fat kid in the car and going into McDonald's...holy shit. You can turn those with a good detail screwdriver set, but the correct one NEEDS to be the perfect length, otherwise you can round that screw. I would suggest get that thing out, and replace it with another screw.

    That is SO bad...

Anyways...damn..omega looks pretty damn good. Really gives me a WFC vibe with the colors goin on.

WTH is with you?!?! This is a TRANSFORMERS site! How the hell can you just show off bot mode and NOT transform it? That's bullshit...its like I'm the fat kid locked in the car now...aaaahhhhh....ok...I see what you did there. Well played. Taking your vengeance from the screw out on us. Well played.

He looks pretty good, but would all those gold-yellow colored plastic on him be subject to GPS? I'm not too familiar with it.

That's a big mama-jama! He looks pretty cool but I'm still unsure where he would fit in my collection, even against Raged Hercules.

He looks nice. I was going to get that 3rd Party guy, but the pictures have changed my opinion,. He's going to look a lot better with my Omega Sentinel anyways.

I think that's just gold-ish paint. Simple paint can't fall victim to GPS. As far as I know....

Thanks man. I hope someone else who has him in hand (and has the right tools) can shed more light on the matter.

I actually already transformed him to alt mode, but there really isn't much to say about those two vehicles. He's now back in bot mode. And I was too lazy to take pics... :)

Yep, painted plastic, it seems. So no GPS.

Great review, love your pics! Interested in seeing if you found anything new with the vehicle mode. Perhaps a way to partially recreate his old alt mode? :D
