I actually almost dislike all the paint apps. It looks cluttered and messy. When I get this I'm considering painting it to simplify all the colors down. I don't need all those browns and blacks.

Wait what? You don't like paint apps because they're cluttered and messy and you're going to attempt to fix that with more paint apps?

You know there's a way you can fix that which would actually make sense in removing paint rather than putting more paint on top of it. You can remove the paint that's already there which will end up showing the color plastic the toy is molded in. I actually did this once as a kid without really intending to. Some where I have a flesh colored Batman which seems a little odd sense only his mouth is flesh colored but apparently the entire toy was molded in flesh colored plastic and the costume was all paint. I was like 5 and took that thing with me everywhere. Play with Batman in our dirt filled drive way, no problem, I'll just wash him off in the sink. Like a month later Batman is looking like some weird pointy eared naked man. I'm sure there's something that could get rid of the paint faster than soap and water.

Honestly I think there's no comparison, the 3rd party version looks far better to me. But YotS is still impressive, a lot cheaper and is an official figure so I'll be sticking with it.

Changing the paint apps so they don't contrast as much from the rest of the toy. e.g, changing the brown on his shoulders to silver. Or changing some brown to red/gold so the color scheme is more coherent. And I can't strip the black parts because most of those parts are the plastic color, not paint. There are other parts like the left shoulder where I don't want to accidentally remove some of the gold paint by try attempting to remove the brown. I basically want to reduce the color scheme from red/grey/silver/gold/brown/black to just red/grey/silver/gold.

But yes I may also remove some paint like the giant brown strip near his claws.

    Ugh.

I have this on preorder, and had been contented with it in pics.

But after looking at a lot of Genesis photo sets, YotS looks more and more like a toy (a great looking toy, but still a toy) compared to Genesis, which looks more like a "collectible," IMO.

Has anybody seen a comprehensive comparison video or photo set yet?

    Thanks.

My year of the snake omega supreme will be arriving today. I'm just not a big fan of the robot mode of genesis (tiny biceps with huge forearms and diaper) or the $300 price point, even though it is a fairly exact replica of the war for cybertron omega supreme. Year of the snake will go great with about everything in my collection. I am even thinking about putting him with my heroes of cybertron collection just to make the massive scale seem even bigger!

Omega Supreme "Year of the Snake" Edition

I just got this from my local toystore. It's the Omega Supreme "Year of the Snake" Edition, which is a retool/recolor of Energon Omega Supreme

He comes in a nice box
    [IMG]

And this is what he looks like. He stands at around 36cm tall, and is pretty heavy and hefty. Retooling is mainly the claw arm and the head itself

A close-up of his head. I really dig the visor, as well as the pop-up head cannon. I must add though that the cannon on mine came installed the wrong way round, preventing it from folding up. Pulled it out from its hinge, put it back in the correct way and it works fine now

Vehicle mode. No surprises here for those who have the original

All in all, i really love this guy. He's big, he's heavy and he has the grandeur that a Omega Supreme should have. I'll leave this final shot of him having fun with Starscream :lol

I got mine in today and heart Omega so hard. I didn't know the visor could flip up until I opened him so that was an added plus. I dig gimmicks so my only wish would be that there was some sort of flywheel/turbine "action" that would make his claw spin by revving up a button.

I wouldn't worry too much about the "if" part, especially since they are still taking preorders.

It looks like Revoltech Megatron. But I may be wrong.
