Plus it just makes him look cool. It changes the profile and makes him look more sophisticated.

like by day he's roaming the countryside, burning shit and being a dragon, but by night he's Thedius L. Aserback, a rich orphan with more money then he knows what to so with... who also has shoulderpads.

also, when i had mine i flipped his feet 180 degrees in bot mode. makes him look kind of goblin-like imo.

I just can't fool myself, he stinks. Robot mode looks dumb with those legs, and probably won't stay tight long enough to stand up. Transformation's a joke.
Beast mode is ok I guess. The yellow neck tabs will go into the beast head fine after shaving a little smidget off them longways down the top.

I think people are giving this turd more credit than he's worth. Save your money.

Not even. The big clawed feet and thin legs leading to a wide upper body and thick arms are a great way of keeping him looking tough but agile. Coupled with his personality, you have one of the cooler looking 'bot modes.

    I don't see why not. It's not like he's exceptionally top-heavy

Hardly. Considering he basically stands up, a heck of a lot happens to stop him from, well, looking like he stands up. The way the back fills in with the "ears" and tail stub is brilliant, as is the way the head tucks into the chest.

The only thing his transformation is really misisng is a way for the feet on the arms to turn around. They'd look better following the shape of the arms instead of going against it.

Hardly. I think it's just the easy knee-jerk reaction to call something you personally don't like a "turd."

The colours are excellent, the sculpt is great, the beast mode is unique and posable, as well as the robot mode. The headsculpt is perfect and he has the best "stand up" transformation I've seen.

Having bought Voyagers Prime and Predaking as well as Bulkhead, Smokescreen and Ripclaw, Lazerback is easily my favorite.

He is just so chunky and powerful looking I'll even forgive him the lack of beast mode head articulation :D

Don't give two shits how simple the transformation is (WAAAH! THE TOY DOESN'T CONFUSE ME THAT MEANS IT SUCKS!), I freaking love this toy. Stumpy, sinister looking beast mode, and bulky, badass bot mode. Glad I got this guy along with Springer.

I kind of want to get this, but there's just something about it that keeps me from pulling the trigger. It's a good size and the colors are nice, though.

Out of all the deluxe beasts...all around, hes prolly the best.

I really like Ripclaw and Skystalker..But Laserback has a nastiness to him that's hard to capture in pics. His bot mode is very...demon..impish looking yet looks like he could bench megatron.

If you like some of the beasts..don't pass on this one. The pop up launcher in beast mode is AWESOME. I cut the tail off my missile and it makes it A- Not get hung up when moving it around and B- Fly so far and powerful Its one of my all time fav spring launchers.

I have Ripclaw, but that was an easier buy for me.

I just got Laserback ; some things I noticed.

    1) There's a logo variation between him and his fellow predacons.
    2) Yep colour wise he does look like RID Bruticus but he also reminds me of Aaron Archers' beast Wars toys Iguanus and TM2 Cheetor as like them he has a truncated torso.
    3) His head looks a little like Rhinox - and he has a crown moulded into his head - it's just not painted - which if painted would make him look a like the Japanese ONI beasts.
    4) his hands actually clip into the beast fore arms - there's red cylinders inside and they clip down on them leaving the hands much less visible than they are shown in many photos.
    5) His beast head can unclip and this allow you with some fiddling to have him looking up and side to side.
    6) looking at the mould in detail I can see lots of little rectangular cut out that suggest if there's a CGI of the character these would be self illumination points.
    7) His gun is a bit rubbish - however it can open up and look a bit like an axe or shield and the missile can be loosely held in his hand like a cattle prod. It can be a pain to store though. The missile is slightly to long too.
    8) The yellow bar on his back provides an alternative storage slot for his tail - ideal if you like his tail stub folded up.
    9) He seems to stand better if you have his feet rotated backwards in robot mode - he also look less like a animal standing on its back legs then.
10 ) I like how his ear spikes fold away - but I do consider them a bit of a redundant design feature overall.
    11) He has a few spots of missing paint a panel line on his arms stops the gold paint part way, his arm spike is only gold on one side - he has practically no paint at all on his back. (which does the Beast mode no favours).
    12) I suggest anyone picks the one they buy very carefully as that ink in the plastic can look very lopsided.
    13) I think you get more of a sense of Transformation if you flip his feet backwards for the robot mode.

    ---------

I agree with the earlier poster a more integrated colour scheme on his fore arms would have been desirable also some sort of ratchet bite in his yellow leg joint would have been a boon too.

    -----------

ADDITIONAL COMMENT : What can a third party do to improve him ?

I think perhaps a third party improvement worth having might be a straight tail that would extend his beast mode in length and make a more functional hand axe for the robot mode, and also an opening slightly shorter rocket would be nice too.

I tried out the TF Prime Optimus guns or blade on him and they fit more or less), He holds a Classics Targetmaster fine, Arcee's gun does not fit though I think he might display rather nicely with Dlx Dreadwings weapons too. He has some limited interaction with Microns (Nemesis Primes for example) but he's not ideal to use them with due to a relative lack of 5mm holes and no posts. As he's quite bulky looking perhaps some sort of heavy weapon would suit him like a Chain gun or War Hammer. I tried him with FOC Sideswipes and it fits great.

Overall I like him and I'd buy repaints/remould of him too.

I have had this guy since around January and just opened him last night. I was waiting until I got Ultimate Predaking before opening all the Predacons. I really like him and so does my 5 year old. Pretty easy transformation. I like him enough that if I see Vertabreak, I'll pick him up too. Planning on opening Ripclaw tonight.

I think you'll really dig Ripclaw too friend! But yeah, Laserback is one beefy, awesome and imposing bot! I really dig this guy. Oddly enough, these Predacons are the first Beast-Bots I've EVER gotten into. I've always been a Vehicle-Bot guy myself. By the time Beast Wars came out, I was not into toys and things anymore (girls boobs and playing music was much more appealing) so I never got it. Now, all these years later, back into toy buying/enjoying in full swing, I've discovered I totally dig Beast-Bots! My first was Ripclaw... loved her so much, I picked up Laserback... Enjoyed him even more. Then I picked up Grimwing (awesome!) and finally, last week, Skystalker. He, as well, is pretty awesome! Don't think I'll ever actually bother with Predaking... strange, I know, but I don't (or haven't yet) actually watched the Prime cartoon (ducks from thrown debris), so his presence in my display is not essential. Besides, I don't likie the look of his Voyager.

Man, I got sidetracked... Laserback rules! Like bobbyjack, I just may be persuaded to drop $13 on his repaint as well!

How so? I'm not seeing it...

It was a running change they nearly all have the same logo as Predaking now there used to be more than one logo though One like this : http://s1195.photobucket.com/user/Dinodigger97/media/Predass.jpg.html was shown on early examples.

Megatron still has a unique logo though. http://s1251.photobucket.com/user/psxe07/media/Beast Hunters Megatron Sharticon/DSC_1041.jpg.html
At first I thought Laserback's logo was the unusual one but it was the one that ended up being the default logo.

I meant to go back and remove or clarify that old comment but it slipped my mind as I knew it was confusing in retrospect when the logo situation subsequently became fully apparent.

Oh wow yeah, that's very different! Thanks for the clarification.
