Better in person. The plastic has a slight metallic gold sheen to it, but not "bling" shiny.

Great review (on page 7, for others who may have missed it), archieboy!

Pretty disappointing to see that the hips are so limited in dino mode, but unfortunately for my wallet that's not enough to deter me from buying him! Does his mouth only open in dino mode when you move the switch to activate the light up gimmick?

Hey thanks man! Yeah, still a good buy despite the flaws. Bot mode makes up for all the figure's imperfections.

2 ways to open the dino mouth: using the light up switch and by prying the mouth open manually. Using the switch can only open the mouth partly, you can open it wider manually. Sadly, though, there is no way to lock the mouth in open position using either method. The mechanism uses springs, so the mouth closes shut automatically. Like I said, feels like those Powerizer weapons all over again. Such a shame, that. The hollowness I can rationalize and understand, but design blunders like this, I can find no excuse for other than incompetence.

Wow, he is pretty big... Interesting that the generations voyagers are even bigger now than before.. almost like an ultra size, perhaps??

Yes, the battery compartment is on the underside of the dino neck, and the door is screwed on.

Ahhh, gotcha. Yeah, considering how cool this would look in a 'roaring' pose, not being able to lock the mouth seems like quite the oversight. On the other hand, linking it to the light up gimmick so he can breathe 'fire' is kind of fun, heh. Would still prefer a locking mouth but bot mode definitely helps make up for the dino mode failings (which at least still looks pretty cool).

Yeah, come to think of it, maybe the only ones who would have a problem with this is people like us who like to take pictures of their toys. Maybe kids would actually have more fun with the feature while playing with the figure. Now I understand. :)

Aww, what? The T. rex mouth can't stay open?! That's like a cardinal sin for dinosaurs.

Much thanks for taking the pictures from the FoC appreciation thread, adding some more and detailing your thoughts.

While it was great to get a first look at the figure, these pics really help to solidify any impressions those pics gave us.

Anyway, yeah, I am pretty disappointed in how hollow this guy is but I'm still thinking it's a pick up for the moment.

I think it all depends on the price. If he's priced the same as FOC Soundwave, then he's worth it. Anything above that is too much for this figure.

You're welcome dude. It's the least we can do because we are getting the figure a few weeks/months earlier than your side of the world.

Why would it be a different price? They're both voyagers.

Same class size isn't guarantee of the same price point.

Not all voyagers currently out there are the same price.

They've NEVER been different prices in the entire history of the toyline. The size class is the price.

You seen different prices of prime voyagers on BBTS?

Also voyager FOC Soundwave is a lot cheaper than voyager Prime Thundertron/Ultra Magnus.

That's not true. TRU has GDO Voyagers for $22.99 and Prime Voyagers for $26.99.

Pricing has gotten a little wonky these past few months, what with some stores raising prices and lots of collectible lines. But BBTS is the LAST place to go for pricing stability, so I think it's beyond reasonable to assume he's going to be in the $20 to $23 range or whatever the current Voyager MSRP is when he's released.
