As an aside, but I think the terms "hate" and "haters" are too loosely used to the point of losing all meaning.

HATE is very strong, deep and emotional.

What I see about unhappiness with Grimlock isn't a deep rooted hate- just a discontentment about what makes a toy good and what is able to be overlooked.

I'm not gonna dis on anyone for liking this figure any more than you do me for disliking this figure. Respectfully to each his own.
Unfortunately I cannot share the same opinion about how solid this figure feels, or its posability for that matter.

Many times I can see how harping on something can seem to be popular; but the consistent nature of people's problems more than suggest to me that this Grimlock dissatisfaction isn't pack mentality based.

Such wise words, friend. There are 3 words in the English language I'm very careful of using, hate, always, and never.

I have enough hate, just from myself, not from the pack, that my hate actually spawned a pumpkinhead, and its now trying to knock down my back wall to destroy FOC grimlock. I tried telling the damned thing I'm.saving it for the .50....but you KNOW those pumpkinheads...freaking persistent as hell. I'm just hoping my hate of this figure does not spawn sinobytes from hellraiser next...

HATE this figure. I don't know why I'm so pissed at $27...I don't get too pissed that much anymore...I just don't remember seeing something look so nice in the package, and opening it up to produce the ball of shit it is.

Only way I can associate my feeling, is hearing about how awesome the hookers are in vegas...and finally getting there, finding one that looks like.carmen electra and she only cost $27....get her to your room..and its a heshe.

THAT kind of disappointment going on here. Carmen electra....to a heshe.

    Hate.

Let's see, not that many Grimlock toys were made in the first place. Just toy to toy comparison, is FOC Grimlock really that much worse?

At similar price point ($20), we have Alternator Grimlock, 6" WWI Titanium Grimlock, and Animated Grimlock. Look, the same criticism, hollowness, not so good joints, fists cannot hold other weapons, etc, all apply. Animated has a chest hole that's not even covered. Try put any other weapon in those fists. Titanium Grimlock...the design on paper looks good, the toy is just okay. Joints? What joints. Alternator Grimlock... doesn't even look like Grimlock.

FOC has a good dino mode, a taller robot, comes with lights, sword and shield, and looks like the Grimlock we remember. So why would anyone think it's the worst of all?

My point is, FOC Grimlock is not bad. Put it next to other Grimlock toys, you will see.

Grimlock is a nice toy but not $27 nice. Personally I would like Hasbro to retool him with a non floating head, a shield that clips to his dino chest, and a G1 inspired deco and to cover the cost, just gut the electronics. Speaking of electronics, how do you actually remove the batteries?

The battery door literally is right behind his head in robot mode (in the dino neck) you cant miss it.

    Thanks for the help.

A small screwdriver, tweezers, or a butter knife should pop them right out.

Picked one up the other day and aside from lack of leg articulation in dino mode, I have no complaints. It is a toy after all, and a good one compared to many released recently. I went back yesterday and picked up a second Grimlock so that I have one MISB. It would be nice if we would get one or more of the other dinobots as well.

Does anyone else have an issue with their FOC Grimlocks left robot arm? Mine won't seem to sit right and when I looked at the "locking" joint mechanism thing, it looks like mine was assembled wrong. Does anyone else have this issue?

I don't think Grimlock is $27 nice, but at twenny-too-fiddy, I got no qualms. FOC Grimlock is probably the best Grimlock toy I own, aside from MP-08.

    And I own:

    G1 Grimlock
    G2 Grimlock
    Random 1983 (possibly Diaclone) Grimlock
    Alternators Grimlock
    mp-08
    Animated Grimlock
    tiny Animated Grimlock
    Fiery Tiny Grimock
    WST Grimlock
    Energon Grimlock
    and FOC Grimlock
    WWI Titanium Grimlock

I think this makes me some form of Grimlock toy expert, and I will say that bang-for-the-buck FOC is the best. He doesn't feel hollow to me, animated is super hollow, as is Energon, G1 is a brick, and Alternators and Titanium aren't even T-Rex.

Is FOC the definitive Grimlock, well, no, that's MP-08, but is it fucking sweet for under 25 bucks? Hell yes it is.

Picked him up for $25.xx after tax. I went in with low expectations due to the majority opinion here but I'm glad I was surprised. The only other Grimlock I owned was the animated version and FoC Grimlock blows him out. The only complaint I have on this toy is that one shoulder is super tight, but other than that I'm enjoying him.

Damn. I've rarely seen a figure be this divisive before.

As for myself, I think he's a flawed-ass toy, but I still enjoy him.
