Personally I'm waiting to get the Takara version... it'll be a bit more expensive but from leaked photos the bling would be worth it.

Interesting, my dino arms are not only secure, but they're so tight that I rotate them down to secure the robot mode arm hinges to keep the arms out in robot mode.

Me too. The only thing I'm disappointed about is how simple the transformation ended up being, but that isn't a deal breaker because he looks good in robot mode and fine in dino mode (assuming you don't put him up on your top shelf).

After a long absence, I make my return to the boards with my overview of this figure.

Overall, I like it. I'm probably beating a dead horse with most of my comments/opinions, but here they are nonetheless.

    Pros:

Bot Mode is awesome. Grim looks very, very, very badass here with his huge chest, broad shoulders, and imposing stance.

Like someone else mentioned previously, the detailing on the plastic is awesome. All the little 'engravings,' vents, robo-details, etc. are top notch.

I like the light up feature in both modes. Works best in Dino Mode, and looks very cool if you can get it to work properly in Bot Mode.

    He is extremely poseable.

    Cons:

Dino Mode is a little weak. The most glaring flaw is that his tail is too thick.

Bit of a pro and con here: The light-up feature works best in dino mode. It looks cool as hell in BOTH modes, but it took some playing around on my part to get it to work properly in bot mode.

Plastic feels a bit hollow and, for lack of a better term, rubbery, especially in the lower leg/tail area (shin/calf in bot mode, tail in dino mode). I'm not sure why. Not a huge flaw; doesn't really turn me off. Just mentioning it for completists' sake.

I'm not much of a gamer, so forgive me for asking this question: Is Grimlock's sword and shield that color in the game? Does he even have them in the game? I only ask because the color of his weapons don't work well with his overall color scheme. Other than the color, they're fine.

I really like this figure and I think he's pretty solid. I'll definitely be displaying him in bot mode. I'd give him a 7/10.

For the most part, he is armed exactly how he is in the game...the color may be a bit different, but that's pretty much it spot on.

Not really digging the robot mode. Shoulders are not secure, knees are so tight I can't bend them without messing up the legs, no ankle movement... he looks good, but doesn't feel good in hand.

The only complaints I have about dino mode are the fat tail, and I wish his mouth opened more. I also have the problem with the tiny arms popping off.

That said, the chest light-up feature in robot mode is a nice touch, and he looks good with my other WFC/FOC toys. I'll def keep him in dino mode though.

1 arm is good, but the other arm wants to fall at the slightest tough.... probably dislodged by the flapping wings of a gnat from a continent away.

The ball part of the shoulder joint on one of the dino arms came off on mine today. The arm fell off and the ball was still stuck in the shoulder socket of the arm. There's a little screw that secures the ball to the body and I think the threads inside of the body were stripped somehow (the screw was still inside the ball when it fell off). At any rate, I have now glued it back.

Picked him up today and despite being a voyager, he's gotta be one of the most lightest figures I own. Talk about hollowness.

But hey, as long as they make all the other dinos, all complaints go out the door!

I opened him today after opening him from getting him in my pile of loot from BBTS. I was trying to be positive desptite the negative feedback he's been getting. The chubby tail doesn't bother me much, but his material does feel cheap for an actual Hasbro release. Still, I like him with one big problem- his right foot was cracked and a huge chunk was missing. Not sure if this has happened to other sicne I haven't read this entire thread, but yeah, I gotta get a replacement.

I was telling a buddy earlier that his legs/tail (calf/shin in bot mode, tail in dino mode) feel as if they're made from the same material as a TupperWare/Rubbermaid lid. Very rubbery and bendy.

The robot arms are a bit too fiddly, otherwise I don't have any huge complaints. The hollow torso is nowhere near as bad as the Animated version, since you don't have the robot head staring right at you. All this, though, is a small price to pay for light up firebreath!

just got mine yesterday and I like him, however I do have some issues.
his robot mode looks great and he has some great articulation. Dino modes lack or articulation doesn't bother me too much, but I could see how one could be dissapointed.
the only qc issue I seem to have is the shoulders are a little wobbly.
the build quality/craftsmanship is pretty bad here. He feels like he was made from vacuum formed styrene sheeting.. The plastic is thin, he was deffinitely designed to be made from as little plastic as possible (the soleless feet hurt me the most)

He's fun and looks pretty good on display, but will probably be dissapointing for someone looking for a quality toy/collectors item.

I actually think the shoulders are kinda neat how they avoid the clearance issue that kinda plagues Grimlock with his large shoulders. The knee joints, on the other hand, are ratcheted so tight that the lower part of the leg always wants to move and wiggle around first.

I like his bot mode look, his light up gimmick, his articulation isn't bad, and his sword and shield are great. I also REALLY like that he can rotat his hand down to point his sword. He is, however, not designed particularly well. The transformation is simplisitic, which I'm usually fine with WHEN both modes are solid, but that's not the case here. It really feels like they either cut too many corners or an amatuer designer made the design. It's an ok figure, but not what I wanted it to be.

The stiff ratcheted knee and elbow joints can be 'broken in' by working them back and forth a buncha times. They stay fairly stiff, but become easier to deal with (and less likely to deconstruct the lower legs when you move them.)

Thanks for the tip. When I actually get my replacements (one without a cracked foot), I will do that.

Got this guy. Definitely feels "rubbery", as others have said. My biggest problem so far is the shoulder joints, which are a little floppy. The hollowness kinda sucks too.

Overall he's not perfect, but I still like him.

My grimlock has a fcuked up knee. The pin and holes weren't aligned corrected when put together. Sadness. Good thing I ordered one online. This fucked up one, I got from toysrus. Hopefully the online one is good.
