I recently had the pleasure of adding Smokescreen to my collection, so here are some brief thoughts on the guy.

I've done a full gallery for Smokescreen, you can check it out at the link below:

Transformers Prime Arms Micron Smokescreen with S2 Gallery

Smokescreen is a remolded version of the Deluxe class Decepticon, Knock Out. This presents an immediate issue with show accuracy, because even with remolding, Smokescreen lacks a few design elements from his CG model on the show - the most notable being the door wings on his back. That's an issue with using a mold that (for all its flaws) was very much the Decepticon Knock Out. But let's not linger on the negatives - Smokescreen does manage to look different from Knock Out with his stickers, remolded rear end in vehicle mode and his new head. The head sculpt captures the character well - I'd have personally given him a smirk rather than a serious determined look - but it goes a good way to giving Smokescreen his own identity. The head is spot-on to the look of the character in the show. Stickers give Smokescreen the rest of his deco - "naked" he's basically a pearlescent and black robot. A perfect base for customs, and the body type would lend itself to something like a Transformers Prime Prowl...

Smokescreen comes with Arms Micron S2, a Micron with a slender and "ornate" look to it, probably referencing a particular plot development late in season 2 of Transformers Prime involving Smokescreen. He's only poseable in the arms, but that seems to be average for the Arms Microns. S2 turns into a high-tech bow weapon for Smokescreen, which I don't recall ever seeing used in the show - yet - but if you fold S2's "wings" in you get a laser weapon that looks like an arm cannon that Smokescreen might equip for battle. In any event, the option to make it into a "gun" or "bow" lends a bit of appeal to the character.

Overall, Smokescreen is an alright release. If you disliked the design on Knock Out there is not a lot here that will change your mind, and the lack of show accuracy is a detractor. However it could be far worse, and as of the moment, this is the only Smokescreen toy available outside the upcoming Legends class in Beast Hunters.

Thanks for the review and gallary Sol.

Honestly, I was super excited for this figure. Unfortunately my opinion might have changed after seeing some in hand pictures.

He looks pretty cool. I just wish Smokescreen had a brand new mold.

This has honestly grown on me a bit. It's just those posts sticking out on the back that hold me away from buying it.

One of the more reasonable wrong mold repaints I've seen. Unfortunately it wasn't a great mold to begin with (my least favorite of the PRID deluxes I actually bothered to pick up).

I've been mildly tempted and I still am- but it's a lot of money and he's just not all he should be. I hope they do an original mold.

Not bad, I like the Knockout mold, and am VERY SERIOUSLY considering buying the figure. But my parents aren't gonna give me the permission today cuz my mom's steamed at my dad. *Sigh* being a teenage fan is tough

I'll order it. Smokescreen looks decent enough to be put with the other figures but I do hope that a new mold is made soon.

Easy pass. Not paying at least 30 dollars for a bland looking toy with ugly stickers and a half assed retool from a mediocre mold. I've seen the door wing micron thing; I'm still not impressed.

    ?

Knockout's mold fits Smokescreen better. So. I propose that Hasbro does the right thing and create an ACCURATE mold for Knockout because his current mold is shit

I know everyone's annoyed by the fact that he doesn't have a new mold. But I grew up with G1 Transformers and that got me used to toys looking nothing like their animation, so I'm fine with it. At least they put more effort into him than they did with Shockwave.

    nice gallery, Sol! :D
TBH, but I'd much prefer the FE Bee mould to be Smokescreen's base body. oh well, time to do some kit bashing! :d
