Generations FOC DLX Sideswipe

So Sideswipe is part of the new FOC DLX wave.

He is a repaint of Jazz with some new parts and some modifications.

A new head, new vehicle hood, new vehicle spoiler and a weapon almost as big as the figure itself.

Sideswipe suffers from being, in essence, a repaint of Jazz. His legs are too skinny for the large upper body.

And the thing that really irks me most is that the Sideswipe packaging art and game art (below) show the vehicle spoiler behind his head.

They even molded that part into the vehicle mode but sadly in robot mode it just stays on his back closer to his legs than his head.

So on to the summary.

Thumbs Up

It's Sideswipe

A transforming weapon. BFG to Really BFG.

Nice vehicle mode

Nice paint job

Thumbs Down

Completely lifeless face with no color in the eyes or light piping.

Based on a weak mold - new FOC molds are much better

To conclude, I got Sideswipe at a heavy discount. it is a case of whatever you loved or hated about FOC Jazz makes a repeat appearance on this figure.

i want that weapon to give to a customized FOC prime to make a mixmaster.

Yeah, the eyes are creepy. Otherwise I like the head sculpt but he "dead husk" eyes just kill it.

I actually might give that weapon to Powerizer Prime... but I don't know.
I've also convinced myself this is really Cybertronian Overdrive under the guise of being Sideswipe. I'm debating if I should shave off the horns and finding if a visor could fit that face, or getting a FoC Jazz only to borrow and slightly modify his head. Or leave it alone because there is some good differentiation already and I'm lazy.

would it be possible for a pic of the weapon being held by a voyager? With these new figures shrunken slightly I want to see how a large gun compared to it would look in a larger figure

The figure is clearly worth the purchase for the gun alone, but it really surprises me that Sideswipe photographs so well, considering that Jazz left me very cold indeed. The red and white on the guy really look phenomenal though, and the way the chest sits feels a little more swipe-y than Jazz-y. Plus, I sold my Universe Sideswipe anyway so it doesn't feel redundant or unwelcome.

The amount of retooling this guy got from Jazz to Sideswipe is awesome! I love the FOC line. I agree that the Jazz mold is definitely the worst of the bunch, but I still think this guy is great.
