This is my first review on TFW, although I've posted lots of pics before.

I recently got hold of FOC DLX wave 3 consisting of Air Raid, Magnus, Sideswipe, Starscream and Kickback who is the subject of this review.

Kickback was a complete surprise to me, I has no expectations but have ended up being very happily surprised.

In my opinion he is the surprise hit of the FOC figure series so far.

I'll explain why with a combo of pics and thoughts.

    Thumbs Up for:

Solid bot mode (the insect arms should have been how airrachnid was done)

Plenty of articulation in most areas
    Nice paint job
    Swords!

Insect Arms are very strong and figure is very stable
    [IMG]

    Fairly innovative transformation
    [IMG]

    Thumbs Down for:

Insect mode has a few issues (but still works)

    No red eye(s)
    Main weapon is pointless

A summary of Kickback is that he is another solid figure that, along with Starscream, helps to banish the disappointments in the Prime and Jazz mold.

The figure isn't hollow, it feels very solid and some minor gripes aside is a good addition to the Generations and/or WFC/FOC series.

This thing looks great. The torso splitting in half is genious.

    Can we see some comparisons?

That feeling of looking forward to new releases is getting even stronger now.

Really like this piece. Aside from a great looking bot mode, I'm actually fond of the alt mode as well.

    Good review, BTW.

sort of, his robot head combines with another piece that is on his back in bot mode to form the insect head.

Name the comparisons you're looking for and, if I'm capable, I'll arrange them.

Not too sure about that one. Never been a fan of insectoid all modes...

    Thanks.

I like the Alt mode too, but it has a few issues which I think could be chalked down to trying something different - which I fully support.

I think it is a decent attempt but I hope they don't stop at one insecticon.

I guess beast modes aren't for everyone.

Why is his main weapon pointless?

What are the issues with bug mode?

I have the fp insecticons, but I'm gonna troop build this guy as the IDW swarm :D

I think I might get him to go with Movieverse Skorponok and Insecticon (and hopefully Prime Insecticon). I love bug-bots. I prefer organic bug-bots, but robotic bug-bots will do just fine. Bring on Hardshell and Shrapnel (or whatever their names are)!

Being able to hold up other Deluxes with his wing-claws is amazing,

The back legs in bug mode are disappointing. Really weird bends, especially compared to a real grasshoppers, and the feet can't not look like just the bot mode's at a strange angle. Makes Kickback look like he just fell backwards, even though seemingly every other part of him twists and unfolds and such.

Just ordered the wave off BBTS because of this review. Starscream and this guy seem really awesome.

I think that's kinda the point, that all the weapons in this wave resemble the in-game weapons.
