    I don't have one yet.

Oh, that's good. Glad to hear it's not too common to have stiff joints.

I have one and mine is fine. Be careful with the ankle joints though. The whole foot is painted, and that makes it a little too tight. Stress marks were already on both joints when I opened it. I found a lot of random stress marks on his knee joints, but I don't think it has any danger of breaking.

Robot Mode: Most Starscream figures, at least those who are more or less based on his G1 incarnation, share certain design elements. The cockpit in the center of the chest, the wings on his back / shoulders, the red shoulder thingies, the works. Generations Starscream ticks just about all the necessary boxes here while still looking different enough to be original and have a pre-Earth look to him. His head and face are classic Screamer, too, though he looks less smug and more pissed here. Articulation is standard, meaning quite good, and even though his feet are somewhat strange-looking, they give him a solid base to stand on.

Two slight complaints here: one, there is quite a bit of unpainted grey plastic in evidence here. Sure, Screamer traditionally has a lot of grey, I'd have preferred it painted grey, though. And two, Screamer has a bit of a hollow torso. Looking at him from the side, you can look right through him. Neither are big things, though. Just something worth mentioning.

Finally, the weapons. Starscream carries two mini-gun-like guns that he can either clip to his arms G1-style or combine into a two-barreled monstrosity of a gun which he can hold or clip to either arm, too. When combined the cogs of the two guns make both barrels turn when you move one of them. So bottom line: a good new version of Starscream with some minor downsides, but all in all: thumbs up.

    Alternate Mode
: Starscream transforms into a Science-Fiction-style fighter jet, pretty much a mirror image of his alternate mode from the War for Cybertron computer game. Not exactly the pyramid-shaped Seekers from G1, but I actually like this mode quite a bit. It looks a lot more aerodynamic when you remove Starscream's big guns from under the wings, but given that I do not know about the aerodynamics on Cybertron, I might be wrong about this. Anyway, the only slight downsides of this mode are one, that it lacks a retractable landing gear and two, that you can spot the back of Starscream's head in the center of the jet. Otherwise, though: a very nice jet mode. Thumbs up.

Remarks: This isn't the first Starscream as he looked before coming to Earth (Titanium Screamer comes to mind), but it's how he appeared in the War for Cybertron / Fall of Cybertron video games and in the current IDW Robots in Disguise comic (the latter due to the former, of course). And if you are among the very, very few who believe that Transformers Prime and WfC / FoC are set in the same universe, then... well, then you must assume that Starscream underwent a truly radical redesign somewhere between the events of Fall of Cybertron and the various flashbacks in the Prime TV series. For me, this is Starscream from the RID comics. Don't much care about the rest, to be honest.

As a toy he's really good. I'm stopping just short of very good because of the "hollow" upper body and the lack of that certain something extra. Doesn't take anything away from him, though. If you're looking for a good Starscream figure, you won't go wrong with this one. And at the very least a Skywarp repaint is already announced.

i broke down and started giving this guy a thin coat of boltgun metal and silver as a simple dry brush...the more i had him sitting here the more and more i started to hate the plain pale grey this guy had.

Picked up this guy a few days ago and he is by far my favorite figure from the FOC line! The design of the figure is fun and it just looks awesome in both modes, besides a few minor gripes. As others have stated, he is a bit hollow, and the colors are slightly off, but he still looks menacing in robot mode and sleek and yet bulky in his jet mode. The headsculpt is absolutely fantastic and he stands extremely sturdily in robot mode. The lightpiping on his head is absolutely phenomenal as I can have him in an almost dark room and have his eyes glowing menacingly at me. The painted blue on his forearms is a little too dark because it's painted over black plastic, but that problem can be overlooked. The grey isn't as perfect as it could be, but the coloring still screams classic Screamer to me. Also, on my figure, there are no stress marks on the legs and they're tight, but not alarmingly so. The ankle tilts just fine with no loosening of the screw required. The one gripe I have with my figure is that his wrists are a little loose. I don't know quite how to fix this. I'd definitely recommend anyone that's a fan of WFC/FOC or Starscream to pick this guy up! 92/100 for me.

    I just got Starscream yesterday.

I would like to say the first thing I noticed right off the bat is this guy has the best light piping I have ever seen. I didn't even have him out of the packaging yet and it was cloudy when I was looking at him in the car and his eyes were lit up. Usually I have to hold a figure directly towards a light source to get light piping to work.

Anyway... the robot mode looks good from the front and the back but don't ever look at him from the side. He reminds me of TM Cheetor in flight mode. Looks accurate to the game so aside from the holes he looks good.

Vehicle mode I'm a little less than impressed. His head, arms, and legs are all extremely obvious in vehicle mode. He breaks every rule about robot parts being visible in vehicle mode. Funny thing is that you can see Starscream checking out his own aft in vehicle mode. It's a good thing robots don't fart.

I really do like his weapons though. Each one has two pegs and for some unknown reason a peg hole. So you could combine them in different ways other than the obvious one. Plus while they're combined proper there's a new peg hole formed on the top. With the way the guns are designed you could easily use them with Bruticus to come up with even more weapon combinations. This is the only thing I could come up with for why the combined gun has a peg hole that Starscream himself can't use. There's no peg on Starscream in either mode where the combined gun could be mounted that way.

Starscream does have several peg holes where the guns could be mounted. You could put them under his wings or on the sides of his legs in vehicle mode. There are peg holes in his arms that are still accessible in vehicle mode but they're so close together you can only use one arm at a time.

In robot mode you could use the leg peg holes to holster the weapons. Arm mount the weapons though it doesn't cover his arm to look like he would in the game. Or he can just hold the weapons in his hands.

Basically the weapons make up for all the other negative points of the mold.

And I almost forgot articulation. Head is on a ball joint. I thought the shoulders were on a ball joint but it's actually a swivel and hinge joint. Upper arm swivel. Double jointed elbow. Wrist swivel. Swivel and hinge hips. A swivel just below the hips that from the shape of the leg I would think would be hindered a bit but it's not at all. Single knee joint. Ankle tilt with is extremely stiff on mine. And I guess you could call it toe articulation. The fold out foot does go up a little bit more than it should which does allow for more natural looking walking poses. The toe articulation is a little tight, not as tight as the ankle tilt but tight enough so you can have him stand flat without worrying about the toe being so loose that he just falls forward.

I'd really recommend getting this guy if you are a Starscream fan or if you already have FoC Bruticus. If you're not a fan of Starscream or Bruticus than I don't really think this mold on it's own is worth it for you. There are some things I like about it but I'm honestly kinda wishing I waited for the Skywarp repaint... if we ever even get one in the states. I was almost considering breaking my no repaint rule and getting both but I don't like the mold enough to have two of them. I think if I do see a Skywarp out there I'll sell Starscream. Skywarp has always had my favorite color scheme... black. Though I originally thought he was black and blue till someone told me it was actually black and purple. I still like that he's mainly black.

Also something I forgot to mention in my previous post: this guy doesn't have a single ball joint on him! Everything is a swivel joint or a hinge joint. Not that it hurts the figure or anything, but it's just an interesting thing I noticed.

Actually he is. But his swivel/hinge combos are really well put together you'd hardly notice they're not ball joints. Oh wait you were making a balls joke weren't you? Sorry but only RotF Devastator is allowed to have balls.

I picked up my star scream and sideswipe yesterday. I wasn't a 100% sure if i was gonna get the US version, cause i thought some early in hand shots made the toy look cheap. But the figure looks so much better in person. The sculpt is spectacular it's pretty accurate. and the paint which was what i was worried about id pretty well done.

I keep vacilating on if i will get the takara one. The reason i may end up getting the metallic one is so it'll match skywarp. I really like the 3-seekers to match. I just think it'd look odd to have one metallic and one flat colored one. I'd rather have all matching metallic or all matching flat colored one.

I also wish they made the purple glow paint a bit more vibrant...

But I'm very excited to finally have cybertron starscream, i have been jonesesing for him since the first game came out, it's been a really long wait.

Now if they can show us thundercracker i will be very happy.

Not a ball joint - there is no rotation, they only move side to side

Yes... and mine is extremely tight there. Is that a mileage may very thing or is that a universal problem? Anyone else have issues with the ankles being too tight? In a way that's a good thing because it means the feet won't flop about in vehicle mode but they could be a little bit looser and still accomplish that.

Goddamn knee snapped on my son's today when up I was messing with it. Still in one piece and functional but now the knee flops all over when not standing at attention. My son is going to flip out when he notices it. Very shoddy QC work there.

It was always rather tight on each of the ones I got my kids but there had been no problems to date with less than normal use. My son just holds his without transforming or posing it and my daughter's is just sitting on a shelf.

Exactly what snapped on my son's, just on the other leg. He is irate and wants a new one. I don't want to give Hasbro the extra money because they assembled a shoddy product.
