He feels much better in hand than the individual FOC Combaticons, that's for sure. Thick chunky plastic like WFC Soundwave I would say.

 

In the pictures the plastic looks like McDonald's toys from the 80s.

 

McDonald's toys in the 80's were built pretty sturdy, so...

I don't know how people can make those sort of assertions from photographs. Sure, if there was a ton of mold flash, and the toy looked translucent like cheap knock-offs, then that's an obvious visual quality.

But the toy's cast in a flat-ish grey plastic that looks like... pretty much every other grey Transformer released in forever.

Oh, ew, except those  . Those were cheap and flimsy feeling, with thin plastic. Starscream looks way more chunky and solid than those.

 

That's ok, when some people don't like a design, they think saying random things like "KO/neon/Happy Meal" is enough to discredit it.

 

Yeah, that's a pattern I see a lot of.

I will admit that initial reaction to the figure was more like "WTF IS THAT CHEAP POS?". Then I played with it some more while taking pictures for my review, to the point I ended up re-writing half of the review before posting it because it was initially much more negative. Give it some time, this Starscream will grow on you.

 

That headsculpt is superb. Hope there's a Skywarp repaint in the works.

 

Any chance of some more pictures without those weapons? Jet mode mainly but i'm also wondering if this is possible?

Ow...they need to make a Triggerhappy repaint out of this guy. If they did, I would buy the crap out of him.

Yeah, Starscream's mold looks way more solid than the initial two waves.

It's kinda like in the first two waves, they were struggling to find their cost/materials balance and skewed a little low, while both Starscream and Kickback look to be more solid molds, and then everybody gets ginormous accessories to make up for the shortfalls.

 

It looks like he's taking a crap.
