First thing I did when I got home with mine was grab the WFC mold and compare the two. Im almost tempted to part with the WFC version now.

Mine will likely stay on my main shelf but with as many different Soundwave's as I have, the voyager will likely be what makes me start a small display of them.

    Picked up Soundblaster this afternoon.

There were several turn-offs for me in the reviews as well as my own issues and I was in no rush to pick it up. (Heck, I first saw both Soundwave and Soundblaster before Christmas)

That said, something compelled me and I gave in to the urge. Firstly, he's huge. Wasn't expecting that, he's even larger than Dark Guard Optimus Prime (black redeco of the FE for those who may be confused). The color scheme, the details, all sell me on the figure. The gimmick isn't the greatest, but it's fun.

Also picked up the Data Diskacons, so he's got plenty of minions.

One very nifty thing is that Buzzsaw actually looks good on FOC Shockwaves shoulder/wing/backpack.

I picked up Soundwave yesterday on impulse. I hadn't been to the Transformers aisle in awhile and much to my surprise there this figure was. I hadn't really heard anything about him since he was revealed last year so it was all new to me.

I have to say I was pretty disappointed. In the box, he looks spectacular (which is why I picked him up in the first place), but once I got him out he was kind of lame. In robot mode he looks much better than the deluxe, but I think the deluxe still has the edge in vehicle mode.

    CONS

-He only has his shoulder cannon. At first I thought mine was missing the gun but after doing some research I found out Hasbro axed it in the last minute which is why it shows up on both the box and instructions (it's even a step removing it from his hand :lol  WTF?)

-Data Discs are extremely hard to get in his chest because of the tightness.

-Chest panel flops around in alt mode and doesn't lock in.

-Feels very hollow and again suffers from the clip on wheels that has become the norm in Transformers now.

    PROS

    -Nice clean paint.

    -Great size overall.

    -Amazing headsculpt.

I decided I don't really want to keep him around so I sold him to a friend of mine who was looking for one. I think overall he is okay, but just falls short in a few areas. It also probably doesn't help that he is out right around the same time as MP Soundwave who stole a lot of his thunder. If you love the game and really want the best interpretation of that Soundwave, I think he is better than the deluxe. If cash is tight because you are saving for a higher retail item like MP Soundwave or Encore Fort Max, I'd say pass on him for now.

I still like my WFC version better, better poses and alot more going on. This Soundwave is bigger, but bigger's not always better. He's a bit boring and out of scale with most figs.
He's more like a poor man's MP Soundwave and looks pretty good on the shelf.

Gave his chest hole a little shave, and they all fit in quite nicely now.

Got Soundwave recently. Non-ratcheting leg joints feel like they're going to loosen over time, and his disk "chamber" has a bit of a lip that makes it really hard to eject Laserbeak. And the disk launching gimmick doesn't work so well in vehicle mode, due to the part you push not applying force directly to the part that actually pushes out the disk

Still, a very nice figure overall. Nice and big, which is a major plus compared to the downsizing deluxes.

So I know I'm late to the party, but I picked up Soundwave this weekend, along with Voyager Predaking and Deluxe FOC Kickback. Hey, first new stuff I've seen in a month or two, I got excited!

First off, I find having him in hand, as is most often the case, makes him MUCH cooler than in pictures. His chest is very boxxy, which is appropriate, though the window isn't shaped too well for G1ishness. I'm OK with that. Second, to compare him to his deluxe counterpart, the blue is a VERY nice blue, not that faded, greyish blue of the deluxe. I much prefer this color, personally.

Transformation has been covered. I like it. Simple enough to be fun, complex enough to feel like I paid for a voyager.

Oh yeah, speaking of paying for a voyager... holy crap, with shrinking figures lately, this guy feels HUGE. He still doesn't weigh quite as much as, say, a Cybertron voyager, but he looks every bit the part. Or size. Whatever. Shut up I've been drinkin'! ;)

I don't like that his arms seem to be designed to be "gorilla arms" with elbows that fold inward, but this is mitigated very well with bicep and wrist swivels. It's not perfect (see Universe 2.0 Ultra Class Onslaught), but it's effective enough.

Also, he scales AWESOMELY with Toyworld's Hegemon. He's just a little bit shorter, which I feel is appropriate.

I like that he transforms into a communications vehicle. I love my Classics, and I love G1, but I'm done with outdated alt modes and mass shifting. This is my Classics Soundwave, which I'm sure will be an unpopular opinion, but, well... you're as entitled to your collection as I am to mine. :)  I still wish I could get a Voyager (or Hegemon-sized) IDW Infiltration-styled Megatron... but I guess I can have my Hegemon Megs and pretty much... not transform him except for fun. I guess that makes more sense if I were to mention that I consider characters in my collection for my long-dead comic's sake. I keep swearing to myself I'll resurrect it, with much less me being an asshole.

Sorry, sidetracked. Anyway, of the three I got this past weekend, Soundwave is my favorite. He's not perfect, but there's a LOT of awesome in this toy. And I love the blue. Bluuuuuuuuuue...

Love this figure! Feels much more solid than the deluxe and executes the tape deck mode much better!

I am playing WFC for the first time and last night beat Soundwave in the Autobot Campaign. Right before the fight Soundwave was in Tape Deck mode which I did not know shows up in the game! Had to try it with this guy and it works great!

You can leave the cannon plugged in but face it so it is behind his head

WHY DOESN'T THE PIC I POSTED SHOW UP?

Didn't pick to up when SW/SB was out but today I stumbled across Bladter and figured why not. Not a fan of Steeljaw, but overall this is a decent mold for Blaster.

Picked up Soundblaster and the minions.
Kind of wish my gf didn't throw away the packaging. I haven't had this much buyer's remorse since Ultimate Bumblebee.
If I didn't have the vastly superior WfC Soundwave, this one would pass. As it stands, the unsatisfying gimmick, along with the somewhat bad alt mode just kill it for me.
    Oh well. Live and learn.

Have to disagree with every bit of this. Other than scaling with the other videogame toys better than the Voyager, there is not a single solitary aspect of the Deluxe Soundwave I like as much as the Voyager. I haven't been so satisfied with a mass market release in years. Plus I think he makes a better Classics Soundwave than anything we will get from Hasbro. Lets face it, if they do one they will slap some derpy alt mode on it that fits even less than the FOC alt (which you can get a pretty nice fan boombox mode out of), probably has no deployer gimmick, which is a must for me or it's not Soundwave, plus it will probably be a Deluxe. Which means it would look like tiny shit next to Henkei Megatron and Optimus.

I'm surprised by how much Soundblaster has grown on me. The fantastic light piping and some of the poses he can pull off as well as how great he looks just standing in a lineup really makes me glad I ended up picking him up.

Part of my unwillingness to give this mold a chance because I have the WFC Deluxe, but while the Deluxe was more game accurate from behind (Which is how we see our characters 99% of the time), as a toy/figure/concept I've really come to like this new Voyager mold more than the deluxe.

Will I be getting Soundwave now? No. But I'm immensely pleased by Soundblaster.

Ankle tilts, multiple ports to mount weapons in vehicle mode, non-translucent tires, and the ability to move the "teeth" in vehicle mode.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you 100% that FoC Soundwave mold > WfC Soundwave (I got Soundblaster, not that it matters) but there are a few small things that WFC Soundwave did better.

I was mostly expressing disagreement with the "vastly superior" bit from the earlier post. Reasonable minds can differ and I can see why some might prefer the things you mentioned, although I award very little brownie points to the WFC version for that stuff. Also I vastly prefer the look, if not the accuracy, of the translucent wheels. Catches the eye in alt mode.

I agree with the red ones. I like the translucent wheels. Moving the teeth Im neutral about. But honestly, I miss the second weapon.

The tires I'm roughly neutral about... I like the translucent tires on Soundblaster, but not on Soundwave (because I hate the purple plastic on Soundwave, so more of it is not an improvement).

I only have the Soundwave version of the mold so I can't comment on Soundblaster. But I want him too because I like the mold so much (and he has Buzzsaw....)

I finally got a Soundblaster and he and Buzzsaw are awesome!
I am amazed at how well he fits into my Generations collection.
Very glad I ignored (some) negative reviews and got this figure.
Other than showing a weapon we do not get this is a must buy for fans of Soundblaster.
Oh and the discs get stuck in him if you don't line up things perfect, which is nearly impossible.

    Overall an 8/10.
