I like that mold but I will stick with DLX WFC Soundwave due to scale

True - anyone else miffed that they made the front wheel & feet transformation much lazier than the Deluxe mold?

I have the deluxe, but the minion gimmick and the headsculpt makes this a must buy IMO.

Looks like the head has lightpiping, but is it painted over?

Laserbeak looks to me very similar to how he looks in Autocracy.

Especially as it looks like they kept his holo-projector.

Yes, sorry I didn't mention it. Soundwave has red light piping and Soundblaster has yellow. Soundblaster's works really well too.

I was going to totally pass on Wavey here, because of two things:

#Not very fond of the "crab claws" on the chest.
#His "tape truck tank thingy" mode, just doesn't work for me.*
*These are also the reasons, why I passed on the Deluxe bugger too.

But,the more I think of it...I love this guy. The only reason I even want this guy is the scale; darn TCracker posting that one picture of him with Hegemon in that one thread. Ow, I also like the gimmick. The gimmick is awesome.:thumb

Anyone else see that the gun with Soundwave is Prime's G1 Rifle?

Yes, everyone did. Except for the fact that he didn't actually come with it, which is a damn shame.

I hope so too, but now we find Hasbro at a bit of a roadblock: If they can beef back up Voyagers again and still keep them at the $19.99 pricepoint, how can they, or, more specifically, retailers, justify charging $17.49 for deluxe figures that are still getting smaller (that is the price most stores seem to be shifting to, or higher)?

Aren't the GDO Voyagers at TRU like $23?
That's probably going to be the standard price now in America.

    Looks that way.

As for these two - I'm going to wait for the Blaster redeco. The mold's large size work for that character IMHO.

That's what I'm thinking too - I think Dreadwing cost me around that...

lol, talking about American prices in this thread, damn.

These guys were on special here for $40 each, which is what I paid ($80 for the set). RRP for Voyagers is $50; you guys could get both for UNDER the retail price we have to pay for one! As per usual when this topic appears I have to say you don't appreciate just how lucky you are!

yeah, we don't realize stuff like that. The problem is that we resist change. As soon as something negative happens we have to complain.

That said this figure looks great and well worth whatever your retail price is in your respective country

Got my Soundwave this morning with all the data discs. Much bigger than expected, and the gimmick is pretty fun!

Got mine from TRU.com this morning. While I liked the deluxe version it never really had any lasting appeal for me. I think this one surpasses that one in every way. The proportions in both modes look better to me, he doesn't have a baboon ass made out of wheels like the deluxe, the chest gimmick is a lot more fun than gun storage, and the sheer size is just a surprising treat. Nice to have some ratchet joints in there as well. Also he doesn't feel as hollow, slight and junky to me as most TF toys have felt lately.

I think the biggest surprise for me was just how much fun the disc gimmick is. I wasn't really keen on any of the discs after seeing photos, but Lazerbeak is great, the gimmick works well and I'll probably pick up the others.

While I doubt this marks a return to form for Hasbro, it is a nice reminder of how they can still make a truly great TF.

It gives me hope though. Both soundwave and soundblaster are excellent, excellent figures. I will fully continue to purchase and support their voyager waves if this level of quality continues. Such a breath of fresh air from the stagnating deluxe quality.
