I got my Soundwave/Soundblaster today from TRU.com and was pleasantly surprised by how much I like this figure. He feels nice and beefy in terms of size and stability. I found his transformation to be different enough from the deluxe and still complex enough to be satisfying. I was really iffy on this mold after my initial impressions of the FoC line and I think I'd still have been happier if the disc-cons were more complex/detailed rather than having an auto-transform mechanism but as it is the set is very fun and I'm now pretty excited to get the rest of the discs (should be here tomorrow).

My only real complaints with these figures are the lack of accessories. I would have liked him to have a hand-held weapon, preferably his traditional gun but I'd have been just as happy if he actually came with the faux-Optimus rifle that he's pictured with. Likewise, I'm a little disappointed that Laserbeak and Buzzsaw don't come with disc mode cases like the other 2-pack figures do. I know that jewel cases are a pretty silly "toy" but for the sake of consistency (and my OCD) I'd have liked the option to display the buzzards with their fellow minions in CD shelf mode.

I'm really liking this mold. Haven't picked it up yet though. I think I may go for the Takara version Soundwave because I'm really digging the paintjob on it. I like the darker color scheme and the fact that it doesn't have the red bits which stand out a bit too much IMO.

I would have liked a disc case, too. And that Prime blaster had better show up somewhere down the road, I want it!

Is there a 'trick' for loading the discs? Sometimes I go to put it inside and it feels like it doesn't fit, and then I'll try again and it goes right in.

I wondered about that too. I only tried the gimmick out once or twice between the figures but I had a really tough time getting the discs loaded into both my SW and SB.

Got the last Soundwave at my Toys R Us today. Not sure if I like him enough to double/triple dip with Soundblaster or Blaster but he's nice. I do like the sculpted finger on his left hand for pressing the release button. Laserbeak is really fun, and I can't wait to find the disk 2-packs

I just got these figures today and they're great. They're some of the best voyagers I've had the pleasure of getting this year.

Got him in today and while loading the chest is awkward it isn't a deal breaker for me. Great figure overall and cannot wait to get the rest of the minions.

Only thing I will say I don't like is how they show Laserbeak sitting on him but so far I cannot get him to be secure on him except to precariously balance him on SW.

On the pull thing handle on his back on mine has a stratch like when they cut the plastic it stratched it. Is this something just on this figure or all of them? Real minor but just wondering.

Also does the disc go in a certain way? going in and pushing out feels rough? Does laserbeak clip onto his shoulders

This figure is phenomenal. Go buy it. Easily my favorite voyager in a very long time.

I wasn't a fan of the WFC Deluxe version of Soundwave, and am not a fan of WFC/FOC as a whole, but this figure is great. Even with the chest gimmick (I will not be buying extra data discs), this thing has some bulk and is an actual Voyager (after the downsizing in DOTM and Prime). It may have a little more hollowness than some previous figures, but it has nice ratcheting joints and decent articulation. Sure one day I would like a better classics Soundwave, but this one works as a fill in for me. If I had seen a Soundblaster today (with the TRU bogo40), I would have bought it. At this point that repaint is a maybe, but Blaster will be purchased.

I have to admit, I was ready to write this figure off. I have found that most of the FOC toys have been down right crap IMO, and wasn't going to waste my time with this. But for some reason, I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did!

He's actually pretty good! Some minor knitpicks, but overall, quite posable. The tapes are not all that great, but Rumble and Frenzy are decent at least. Wish Laserbeak/Buzzsaw/Ratbat had feet, or pegs for perching on Soundwave, and Ravage is downright crap. As the OP said, the gimmick works ok with a single disc, and the more that are inserted, the less likely it works ok. But one at a time, it's fine. I went with Soundblaster since I already had WFC Soundwave.

Anyone try to put him in a tapedeck mode yet? I tried one and it came out pretty good. :)

Holy crap, his head CAN swivel! After reading Starscream Gaga's review and messing with my own figure, I was going to be really disappointed in his non-articulated noggin. But as verified by Deceptigtar's pics a page back, it actually can twist side to side.

If anyone else's figure ended up with an immobile head, just loosen up the screws on the back of the head and gently twist the head a bit. That should free it up to twist. I'm thinking Gaga's figures ended up as tightened as mine, leaving both of us to think he has no swivel point up there.

    This guy is just great.

First, three cheers to Hasbro for saying to themselves "when's the next time we're actually going to get a chance to do a G1-ish Soundwave that actually launches discs/cassettes and it can be a gimmick we can market addition figures around? Maybe another 20 years?"

They took the ball and ran with it.

He looks great, moves great, is the right size. He makes a mockery of Cybertron Soundwave.

Laserbeak is great as a "gimmick" toy. But for anyone's CHUG display, stick with the Cybertron Soundwave one.

Was really looking forward to Grimlock, but I think I'll end up liking this guy more.

Very good. It's not quite what it used to be years ago, but it feels much more robust than Bruticus and other recent toys. As far as I'm concerned this thing is the highest-quality TF Hasbro has released in the last two years, not counting MP toys or reissues of older stuff.
