Yup saw this in person and was a bit let down by the Knockoff-ness, so I preordered the Takaratomy version since the finish on that one looks good (so far).

I don't agree with that. Megatron's nice and solid and isn't full of holes everywhere.

I cancelled my order upon getting the retail version. I havent been disappointed in a figure like this in years. They feel so cheap and hollow

I didn't like the soft plastic and hollow feel when I first got SDCC version in summer, it grows on me though. Now, the G2 version that I received today from Amazon, is pure win. Box is totally G2, I pulled my G2 Optimus box out, they look just like each other. Paint job is well done. Love the giant G2 symbols!

My only gripe about the box is that from what I remember, big G2 boxes opened from the side, not the top.

People saying it looks like a KO are crazy; I have all 3 versions and G2 is by far the best looking! I absolutely love him, awesome homage, awesome colours, awesome box, awesome everything.

I don't think it looks like a KO. I LOVE the colors on this thing. These are the colors my Bruticus was. I love everything about the way this toy and box looks. It is a visual punch of awesomeness.

I think it feels like a KO.

Exactly. Though, to be honest, the feel of it is growing on me. I'm getting used to the lightness. (Not a good thing, I'm sure.)

For those who have both the SDCC version and the G2 version, does the G2 version stand up to the SDCC in terms of quality, character representation, and overall satisfaction?

My plan overall was to enjoy my SDCC version, but sell it when I got my G2 version, as I usually don't collect multiples. I figured that I could probably sell my SDCC for a decent profit, and be content with the G2.

Has anyone done that or is anyone planning to do that? I like the SDCC Bruticus a lot, but I'm not necessarily a stickler for rarity or game appearance. I like the SDCC box, but it takes up a lot of space.

Mine came in the mail today - wow, this looks FANTASTIC.

I'm braced for the cheap hollow feel, but so far, the boxset looks killer good and am happy to break into him at Christmas.

Blast-offs tabs are the ones giving me the sweats. and he could have used maybe just an extra set of joints on each of the robots.

But yeah, all in all, he's an awesome toy. He was supposed to have been my last Transformers purchase... ever... as I'm really not into either Prime or any of the other FOC stuff, but I think He's just tempted me to take a look at wave three...

Question... do Vortex's skis fold anywhere? There's a hinge there, but it doesn't feel like it should move, and I'd rather not try, and snap something as a result...

This guy is my first (and currently only) experience with these figures. I've had em for about two weeks now and the newness has worn off... but I still love the crap out of em. I do think, aside from Onslaught, they're better individual figures than they are a combiner team, but I think I actually prefer that. I think I like good figures that can combine (yanno, if you want to, that'd be okay) as opposed to crappy figures whose primary function is to be a limb/torso. I don't expect mass retail figures to be perfect - that's just begging for disappointment.

I don't get the whole feeling-like-a-KO thing on this guy. Maybe it's cause I don't have the retail or SDCC version? I've got some KO figures I've gotten from Dollar General and Big Lots (back when they sold KOs), and... really? You guys must've gotten some shitty samples, because the plastic on mine feels just fine. My KOs feel really dry and brittle, these guys are... not? I would contrast that statement with "oily and flexible"... but, well, not oily. The only fear I've had about breaking something was popping Onslaught's head all the way into place. After I did it once, though, it was perfectly fine.

I think the KO comparison is because they're all so lightweight. They are. Well, look at em from the back! They're all rather hollow. Just like the other three FOC figures out now (Jazz, Optimus, Shockwave), there's a lot less plastic used than we're used to for a Deluxe. I kinda feel like Prime Knockout, as small as he is, might even have more plastic. I could be wrong, I don't have Knockout right here - or a scale. They're lacking in plastic quantity, not quality.

Yes, they fold inward. A lot of joints are frighteningly tight, those could be one of em (they weren't for me, but YMMV). I only fold them in for his bot mode.

Am I the only one utterly terrified when removing/attaching the limbs? Those connectors don't seem like they'll withstand anything more than very rare handling.

As a set though I love this whole package. He feels delicate but to be honest I'm used to that with Transformers these days. Brawl is unfortunately the biggest let down of the set. Not only is he tiny, but mine has a ton of loose joints

To be honest my biggest gripe with this set is this ridiculous over reliance on pin joints. I hate pin joints, almost every single one is a broken figure waiting to happen with the new 'quality' standard of Hasbro stuff.

Yeah, this is the version of the mold I went with. I wish this review had said more about how awesomely the packaging calls back to the G2 packaging. Same shade of neon red, same fonts, etc. It's a thing of beauty.

It opens from the top instead of the side, though. and it's missing the robot points.

Still, the box is amazing. Everything else about it's design is completely G2.

    So...finally got mine.

And... if I had to describe the molds in one word, it's AWKWARD. I mean they allare full of awkward joints, weird design choices, and poor range of motion.

They all have plenty of articulation. However, almost all of the joints are either just a bit too resistant, or have something in the way, or just seem to be in the wrong spot.

Vortex is surprisingly nice! He's the only one of the bunch with decent arms. His rotor is in the way, but ah well. His guns are great, and he simply looks gorgeous.

Swindle's probably my favorite. Hate his head, but what are you going to do? But he's got a solid alt-mode, makes the best limb (both arm AND leg), and has a well-proportioned robot mode. If a bit oversized.

Brawl is... bad. Just... bad. He's hilariously tiny, has no purple in robot mode, his feet are worthless, he has a giant buttflap kibble piece, and the angle of his shoulders are awkward. It's amazing, since I thought he would be the best one in the set.

Onslaught is better than I expected. His arms are awkward, but moving his wheelwells as shoulders works. Shame about the purple head, but I don't mind it much. The alt-mode, however, is pretty much everything I hate about Cybertronian modes. It's rubbish. Just... rubbish. It's a folded up robot on four wheels.

Blast Off was disappointing. He LOOKS gorgeous, easily my favorite in terms of looks. However, his shoulders are comically useless. Any attempt to use them will just result in laughs. But he's still pretty solid, I love his guns and alt-mode, and his colors are great.

Onslaughts vehicle mode would be nice if it looked like the game, he's supposed to look like an armored van. Not a pickup hauling robot bits

Played around with mine today. I really don't like any of these molds very much. Some are OK at best, but almost every joint is weird and some are useless. Plastic feels very low quality. Combined mode looks lanky and silly, but I already knew that from photos. Oddly I think the best thing this set has going for it is the colors. If I had to pick a favorite it would be Vortex, even though the blades stuck to his arm sort of kills him for me. It's too bad Hasbro didn't make this toy with the standards they used 5 or more years ago...

I'm not going to bitch too much though, the set was cheap and I knew going into it that I'd probably not like it. Debating whether to just sell it already. :lol
