    Finally got this dudicus.
+ the customizable combination aspect, especially how it carries over to the weapons
    + the crazy colors
+ Blastoff, Vortex, and Swindle are pretty nice by themselves
+ is a genuine "true" Combiner - no extra parts, no repaints within the team, they all got robot modes
+ $12 each is an alright price, and I didn't have to go looking for him. Yay!
    - thin plastic everywhere; I'm not sure if there's any part that's not worryingly thin
    - actually combining/un-combining them takes considerable effort; the aforementioned thin plastic isn't very reassuring
    - Brawl and Onslaught are very weak
    - Brawl's feet. Really, I can forgive the other weird joint issues, but Brawl's feet don't 'catch' anywhere. I don't know how the hell I've managed to make him stand for even a second.
    - Onslaught being the same size as everyone else (though that is screen accurate)
    - Swindle's lack of big eyes
QC Issue: Onslaught's head doesn't seem to rotate as far up as it should, and there's a nice long stress mark along the pin right behind his head. Brawl has a thumbprint in one of the purple splotches.

Overall I'm pleased (though I did keep my expectations low) and would love to see HasTak continue with more Combiners. But please don't take so many shortcuts...

^^^^ There were a couple of tabs too thick on mine to allow for Onlsaught's head to rise fully in robot mode (yellow plastic inside the body). I just filed them a bit to allow for the piece to go through completely, that should work for you.

Just opened my G2 Brut today but I'm liking this arm configuration. Not only does it look better proportioned (in my opinion) but it adds elbow articulation on the Blast-off arm and shortens the Vortex one a bit. Pretty entertaining figure overall, even with its flaws.

It looks like the yellow tabs are the problem, but the area looks too crowded for me to file them. Unless it's easy to pop off Onslaught's head?

It's easy enough, I had to pop the head to be able to file the pegs. It didn't require too much, it was mostly a bit of mold flash that was stopping the piece.

I still think the G2 coloration for these molds suits them the best, IMO. I mean, I can't wait to see what Takara's final offering will look like, but I really don't think it would go beyond this one's own.

Alright, that was an easy enough fix.

Found stress marks on the neck post, though. *sigh*

I was given this set a few days ago and here are my thoughts:

    Pluses

    - It's an honest-to-god G2 homage, right down to the instruction manuals. I normally never keep packaging but I will be making an exception for this box

    - I loved G2, being a child when G2 was on the shelves, so the colours aren't an issue for me.

    - In combined mode he looks utterly fantastic and there are so many way you can customise this. I want to try all of the awesome fan modes that there are out there.

    - Brawl, Vortex and Blast Off are great figures. They have tight vehicle modes and their robot modes look fantastic.

    - An actual, kibble-free, readily available and relatively cheap proper combiner set. THANK YOU HASBRO.

    - Whilst the plastic is thinner and feels cheaper, by and large you don't notice it...

    Minuses

    - ...but when you do, urgh. Onslaught is frankly terribly in this regard, he feels so very flimsy and Swindle isn't much better.

    - Onslaught's vehicle mode is made by folding his robot mode in half and swivelling his arms and legs around a bit. If I'd bought him by himself at retail then I would have been very disappointed indeed.

    - Whilst there is no kibble, the head for Bruticus almost feels too small and out of scale. His backback could stand to be larger as well.

    - The box art shows extra paint apps on the figures and weapons that never made it to the figures themselves (Vortex's swords and the tips of Onslaught's cannons are paint on the box, but bare plastic in reality)

    Conclusion

A bloody awesome present and one that I will have a lot of fun with, but is not without its faults. If you want a full set of Combaticons in one fell swoop and don't fancy shelling out serious money for someone's Fansproject Combaticons + the ROTF Bruticus set, this is for you.

Generation 2 I remember as an older 13-to-14 year old kid, but I think the only G2 TFs I had were Grimlock in his classic G1 color-scheme & Snarl in green. I always wanted Dreadwing but never got him as I think I was getting out of interest in Transformers at that time.

I've always liked the Combaticons after watching the episode where Starscream uses stolen "sparks" to transform 5 old WWII vehicles into Transformers. For whatever reason, that episode always stuck out to me as one of my favorites and I've always saw the Combaticons as this group of transformers who never asked to be created and had to deal with the hand they were dealt....until they realized they were much more powerful then Starscream & most other transformers. With Onslaught as they're leader, the 5 of them were a force to be reckoned with and when they form their 6th member Bruticus, things just got bad for anyone in their way. I also remember the episode where they got exiled and were on an asteroid or something- funniest part was when they get back to Cybertron & Bruticus uses Shockwave in his gun mode to shoot his own drones.

Ah I've just done it to myself now, I will be ordering this box set. I love the Combaticons & them as characters as I'm a sucker for neon-colored 90's toys. I guess they figured the toys would stand out on the shelf more if they were dipped in day-glow paint? As I'm also a Post-Transformers the Movie kid, I grew up with Cybertronian alt-modes for my TF's so having a group of Combaticons as those AND a G2 homage is too tempting not to get.

LoL :lol  I remember those, they said "Decepticon" or "Autobot" & I always thought they did that incase people from Generation 1 wouldn't know which symbol was which....or in case the Transformer itself forgot what faction it belonged to.

If they make an upgrade sticker set for these guys, I know I'll totally buy it as some stickers would really spruce it up nicely.

Oh I had a question for those who own the set or any of the variations: Does the Generation 1 or 2 Onslaught Sonic Stun Gun accessory?

I no longer have Onslaught but I still have his Gen 1 gun and was curious if it could fit into this newer figure's hands. If so, then I'm totally giving it to my figure once he arrives.

Definitely worth taking the time to paint Onslaught's head!

I finally opened my copy last night and all I can is I'm MASSIVELY disappointed. Worst transformer I've opened in a LONG time and I just opened the deluxe ultimate battle set for Christmas, lol.

I too have the Onslaught head issue, but it's far more than that. Plastic feels beyond cheap (and I almost never say this), mold degradation galore (flash and other issue keep pieces from tabbing properly in a lot of spots). Some joints are outright floppy while others are worryingly stiff.

I don't know how yuo guys make this thing look so great in pictures - hats off to you.

Also, IF Brawl could stand properly, I'd think he'd be my favorite. He's about the most solid, least hollow of the bunch with a cool little alt mode IMHO. But those turrible feet just kill him.

Ouch! real sorry to read that you feel that way, man. Yep, even I had to admit that this is probably the cheapest feeling plastic on any TF I've bought lately, and that several of the individual figures have their flaws (Brawl is the most insidious though... he's so photogenic, and that totally hides his terribleness, mainly his awful feet)

And even admitting all that... I just can't help loving the figure. It's one of the most plain fun toys I've bought recently, and I'm constantly fiddling with it and posing him. He does look quite nice in combined mode, and it's so simple to find alternate transformations! (I've found several more Blastoff configurations since I posted that last pic, and each time I think it looks better than the last). This fig is all about the play value for me, and I forgive everything it does wrong because of how damn fun it is in the end.

It also gives me great hopes for future combiners to be a lot better.

Well, I finally got around to opening this giftset that I got for Christmas.

I know I'm way behind in coming up with an opinion on this guy, but as a set, I love it. It's a fantastic G2 Bruticus and it didn't take much (I 'mistransformed' Blast Off to not have a hand and look closer to the games flamethrower) to look incredibly awesome on the shelf with other WFC/FoC figures. Plus, I have the G2 Bruticus skin in FoC, so he's my FoC Bruticus.

My problem is that as figures, I'm really nonplused by most of them. This is my first exposure to all of them save Blast Off.

Onslaught seems like the best robot, but his vehicle mode is a mess.

Vortex wouldn't be bad, but the arm blade rotors are a pain and really deviate from the game. His Helicopter is also somewhat weak.

Swindle has a fantastic vehicle mode, but his robot mode is pretty weak; it's almost like it's been stretched out vertically.

Brawl has a solid vehicle mode, but the backpack on him for some reason is pretty detracting, maybe because it's the same color and it feels almost like he's got diaper crotch due to the attachment link hanging down there.

I don't normally comment a lot on plastic quality, but there are places where I feel like it's brittle. I had to use excessive force to get Onslaughts head to pop up and to pop in Blast Offs shoulder pegs, both of which I felt like I could break them instead of get them in. I also have a stress mark on one of the hinges on Bruticus' torso plate.

Glad I got him, glad I opened him, but if I had gotten them as individuals, I probably would've been annoyed with them.

    Hello.
Quick question: I like my dudicus but as many mentionned, it has thin plastic.
Does the takara version of FOC bruticus seems cheap as well in term of plastic? (plastic quality and not the color)

The only difference between Hasbro and Takara's is the paintjob.

Did anyone notice that BBTS jacked up the price on this guy to $75 now that he is sold out on Amazon?

Anyway, I've been tempted to pick up another set so I could fiddle around with one (and not worry about breaking him) and leave one to display in the box. He does have a lot of play value, but I just wish he didn't feel so flimsy. I hope that the upcoming Wreckers repaints are made of higher quality plastic, if so I just might cave (especially since they come with those extra giant weapons.)

Hey, I'm late to the game here but just opened this guy up. My Brawl has two left shoulder joints (black part with shoulder ball and chest vent). Bummer. Prevents him from transforming completely into tank or foot mode.

If anyone has one with two right shoulders and wants to swap, let me know. Also would be open to buying a loose or preferably junker g2 or retail/sdcc/platinum release of the FOC Brawl toy for the joint (Twin Twist has grey joints so he's no good).

Revisiting these guys now after playing more of Fall of Cybertron...
They're a lot more fun than I remembered initially, and look good esp after a new paint job. (I only got the G2 version b/c I didn't want to go hunting and miss one).
I cannot see how to get Blast Off in this arm config though, any ideas?
