Also, on the subject of scale, from what I can tell, Rumble/Frenzy should also fit with it.

I did a comparison to the original tapes awhile back when we first got color pics, and from what I can tell they're about a head taller - which puts them at about the proper height on the scale chart when stood next to my Starscream.

    That clears up a lot.

Ok...so here, what happened with me, is I assumed just because it was an MP, It was gunna be big. Turns out, from your guys scale charts, MP sideswipe is spot on.

Thanks guys, for being patient and leading the way for me to wrap my head around this.

Has anyone tried to fit him in primed trailer? I heard some HAs can for in there, how about a most bitchen' pic of MP sideswipe rolling out of primed trailer?

Once again..thanks guys. It's easy for a situation like that to turn into a thread shitstorm, I appreciate your guys patience, and schooling me with the sizes. The key pic that remedied my questions was Rodimus and prime together. With sideswipe in perfect "scale" then further MPs down the road could all be in scale. I get it.

Yep. In fact, the trailer pic has been part of Takara's press shots for some time. It's kind of a selling point for them I guess.

If the US release isn't too expensive I'll get this now I'm looking at it more. I like the overall size of him though I still think that head is strangely small. This seems like a masterpiece I could travel with.

Ug...$80 for a deluxe-sized toy? No thanks. I'll wait for the US version (which, for whatever reason, seem to have a lot of the Japanese MP toy's kinks worked out). I don't think I can justify more than $40, $50 for him.

This down-sizing/price-upping has me loosing interest in buying TF toys. Never thought that would happen...

To be fair, I don't think Classic inspired iterations of Bumblebee pegwarmed or caused as much hate as the Movie inspired ones.

Back to Sideswipe though, anyone who got theirs already had the same QC problem as me? Just curious.

I mentioned it in my review. A panel near the wheels wasn't painted properly so it was discolored compared to the rest of the panels in vehicle mode, while the panel next to it had a paint splotch of sorts. It's the 3rd picture of mine featuring the vehicle battle mode. Can't take pics of it clearly anymore though since I had mine replaced already.

Official scale-chart aside, the G1 cartoon and comics seldom portrayed Optimus as towering over the G1 cars the way MP Prime does over MP SS. Perhaps that was the way it was supposed to be all along, but it's hard to fault people for thinking otherwise, when most of the G1-related media folks grew up with tended to "even out" the heights of the various bots.

Well, that and I'm not sure there's a compelling argument that Sideswipe is a little over half the height of Hot Rod. :)

I think most people will solve that by keeping him as Rodimus :)

Well, I got him today for about $61, but there are a few things bothering me.

    1: He's too small.
2: He's too expensive. If a person like me who's entitled to have the rest of the world heavily subsidizing my TF prices is gonna pay so much for a deluxe sized toy then it should have rubber tires or give me blowjobs or something. I mean, who do they think toy this is for, Japanese collectors?
3: His name: 'Lambor'. Seriously, WTF is up with that? Everyone knows his name is Sideswipe. Get with the program, Takara. If I'm gonna pay the standard price of a voyager in Australia for this toy the least Takara could do is call it by its proper name.
4: The box is covered in some kind of weird squiggly writing stuff that I can't read and there's hardly any English on it at all. I expect better than this from a toy that calls itself 'Masterpiece'.
5: Look at this dumbass map of the world. Everyone knows Japan is off to the far right edge of the map.
6: There are too many states nowadays. Please eliminate three. I am not a crackpot.

Seriously, it's like this tiny overpriced toy was designed for sale to adult collectors in a country that isn't even America, by a company that's not only not Hasbro USA but is even contractually forbidden from interfering in their market or something! It's almost as if Takara didn't care enough about my specific wants as someone who has little to no bearing on their target market to tailor this toy to the originally-intended-to-be-a-standalone-piece MP01 like I wanted, and are now trying to make a whole in-scale series out of these rip-offs instead.

Shot these for the "Supah Cleah" thread, but thought they'd be welcome here as well:

Vehicle scales are really starting to even out.
Classics/Generations, Alternity, Masterpiece, or Prime, a deluxe is still a deluxe.

Of course, like iGear's "Specialists" or ROTF Lockdown, the deluxe vehicle becomes a Voyager robot:

    It's hammer time!

"Hey, look what Amazon brought! Anyone care for flapjacks?"

"Masterpiece" in name, "iGear" in scale.

This was entirely my justification for shelling out for the Takara version.

    The new scale is perfect.

I wouldn't expect a US release of this - there's a reason why we never saw an accurate DOTM Dino/Mirage toy.
