This has turned into an argument already? :lol

I love it, dont care about rubber tires or diecast. Looks just like he jumped out the cartoon and that's what matters most to me.

Well, that was a long time ago in transforming tech, so I would venture, if they sold Alts now, they would be masterpiece-esqe. Alts were shellformers (im all about Alts BTW, makes up a big part of my collection) but if they did them now, licensed car modes, with updated Tfmation, and rubber tires, is pay $80-$100 a pop for them.

Your right...I just go back to the size. I guess I didn't do much research on this one. I seen front pages pics...sweet..looks good...then I see the pic from the OP sliding it out of the MP box..[I'm thinking] cool, that looks about right, box is a bit smaller than MP Megatron.. it looks like its about as big as an alt..holy shit..its the size of an alternator! I WILL buy this thing...and ill buy red alert...and wow...I'm stoked...wait...someone posted a comparison pic..sweet..that woo give me a goo

    WTF?!?!?!??!

I guess I'm my own worst enemy. I really just assumed this was a larger..toy. I'm just disappointed its so small. When I think of masterpiece...I think of MP01....Megatron...grimlock....hell..even Walmart skywarp is awesome...just seeing this in the same scale as deluxes made me leave skid marks the wife will BITCH about for a week. I actually considered preordering this at one time. I'll wait for a hasbro TRU.

I'm not saying its not cool...its just not a MP to me.

Here is the size comparison. This was taken from OptimusPrimeSG youtube MP12 review. I really wish MP12 would have the same height as the binaltech SS. The binaltech SS looks great height-wise along with MP10.

To be fair, he's a head taller then Classics Sideswipe, which puts him more at current voyager heights.

Regardless, I think he looks great. I like sturdy, solid designs and that doesn't require metal or rubber or a larger size. I mean, look at that comparison shot- yeah the binaltech is bigger but he looks... well MP12 just looks better and still fine next to Prime.

MP-10 is the new standard for robot scale for all future MP releases. People complain bots aren't in scale, Takara Tomy actually does something about it, now people are complaining the figures are too small.

... and if the standard was scaled any larger the prices would become to high for a lot of people since it's already up there.

There is. Personal opinion. Because by all other standards, an MP is just as much a normal toy as anything else.

I agree. I'm not a huge fan of that official scale chart and would've loved MP-12 to be just a hair bigger. But I'm still ok with his size as is.

I think this pic sums up what I've been trying to say. Look at Prime. He looks epic compared to Sideswipe. He makes him look like any ol regular 8 dollar (oops i mean 15 dollar) toy. I do like the clear headlights. It's a nice touch. Now I don't have the greatest memory in the world, but I don't remember thinking OP was a giant and all the other auto bots were just tiny little guys when thinking of the original show I watched as a kid. Maybe I need to re watch them, as I could be wrong.

Scale was always wonky during the show, but Prime was portrayed countless times as towering over the Autobot cars.

Ok just watched some various g1 YouTube clips. Yes OP is definitely bigger, but I'm not so sure there is much as a discrepancy as the MP figures portray. But then again, I do recall alot of wonkiness in the original show, so maybe at some point the scale was dead on with this MP setup. Just looked at my g1 OP and SS. OP is way taller, but SS has some nice bulk to him so he doesn't look as puny as the above MP comparison pic. If that makes any sense

I get ya. And I 100% understand your cool with the "new scale"

But let me just ask this, I really dont want to start an agruement, or mabye its best to start a thread in the Toy section but let me just ask this then..

Lots of people are speculating one of the next MPs will be Galvatron. If so, then will he be in scale with my MP rodimus, or this "new scale"?

How would galvatron fall into that (quite awesome btw) size chart you guys have?

Like I said...Im mostly disappointed in the size due to my own lack of research. I really just assumed it would be larger. Please dont think im knocking on this fantastic figure, I DO like it, just wish it were a bit bigger. But you guys showed with your chart, that its SOPPOSSED to be that big..ok..I conceed that, but what about the stuff already released? is that then considered just the "old scale"?

I guess theres nothing stopping them from making a BIG galvatron IF they do make one, but then that would make it not fit with the new scale, and then...would they redux the rodimus? I mean...after all..I know scale is not important to some, but with nemesis characters like Rodimus and Galvatron, shouldent they be in comparable size? I know it wasnt in G1..but still..this isnt G1...its MP

Rodimus is specifically part of the "new" scale. Rodimus Prime and Optimus are on scale with each other. As for the exact chart, I'm sure there is a post movie chart with all of these characters that just isn't out in public.

Short answer, an MP Galvatron would be in scale with both Rodimus and the new guys.

Scale was all over the place in the cartoons. The height charts above are the reference point for all future Masterpieces.

I imagine he would be the same size as Prime and Megatron. Despite being released prior to the reset, Masterpiece Rodimus works with the new scale. Likewise, Masterpiece Starscream. A standalone Hot Rod would probably be around Sideswipe's height.

Masterpiece Grimlock is the only one of the old, downsized Masterpieces who isn't compatible with the new scale.

The only things out of scale are V1 OP and Megs. All the existing MPs are close to in scale already.

Except for Grimlock, for those show-scaled obsessed collectors. Personally, I'm sick to death of seeing that scale chart. Yeah great, it's show-scale accurate, great for those people. I'm more of comic scale person myself, I like most of the important bots being the same height as Prime. Which is why Alternators still work well for me.

Edit: This isn't me complaining about scale though, I could careless honestly. If anything, the new MP cars will replace the majority of my classics deluxe cars with robot mode Alternators being with my MP Rodimus, Grimmie, and Optimus.

Ok, I have my MP Prime in layaway, So I dont actually HAVE it yet, So if you guys are saying that the new Optimus Prime MP and Rodimus are the same size in bot mode...Then piss on it..Im fine with that. I thought I seen a comparison pic on MP rodimus next to the new MP Prime and Rodimus looked much taller. I could be wrong.

Sorry to derail the thread, I just created one so that this one does not get derailed again by my questions.

So, It sounds to me that MP01 Optimus, and MP05 Megatron are "thier own scale" and everything else is pretty much in scale, right? So the new soundwave should be about as tall as the new MP optimus mold, and NOT as tall as this sideswipe?

I said it before, Im saying it again, Im NOT dissin on this guy, please dont take it that way, I dont wanna hurt anybodys feelings...The size of this just really left me questioning alot.

MP Soundwave is just a bit shorter than MP-10 Convoy, and just a bit taller than MP-11 Starscream. So again, just about where the old G1 scale chart showed him to be.
