Spelt apocalypse wrong...but don't worry, it's not the end of the world.

Sorry, terrible joke, but I couldn't resist!

Aaanywho, Magnus. He still looks pretty solid, but the lukewarm reactions people have had when getting it in-hand, has just dropped my interest in him a little bit.

Still an eventual buy, but I won't be dropping the cash on him this week now, as I was originally planning to.

For a non show bot (that we know of) it seems weird that they went with a design that cheats all over the place. I didn't even know that the chest was made up of faux windows because there is no paint detailing there...meanwhile the cap just sits there on his back.

At least he has the best powerizer weapon. I seriously don't understand why they didn't design any sort of lock for the others...as I kid I would hate not being able to switch the things unless I held it. Still I think its just Thundertron and Skyquake for me. Lots of blue lately with the voyagers between these 3.

This fake chest door is kind of hard to make out from the pics since I don't have the figure yet. Is this some sort door like Prime chest door where it houses the Matrix or is it something else? Seeing how they cheated so many stuffs, this doesn't give me any hope he'll be in the show. His robot mode and weapon are really interesting.

Its the choice of blue and the overall lack of paint. Vehicle mode just looks like a big blue block on wheels; the weird proportions on robot mode don't help out much, either. There's not enough going on to break up all that blue, in either mode.

Voyager Magnus just doesn't appear to be enough of a step-up from the Cyberverse version and to me, for the increased cost, it should. I'm not sure where the disconnect lies, if the Cyberverse figures are getting better designed, or of the traditional sized figures are getting worse. There's a meeting in the middle going on that I'm not a fan of when there's a $15 price difference between the two.

Where's that extra money going? The Mechtech weapon, seemingly.

he looks decent. but I like the Cyberverse toy's vehicle mode (visible legs aside), and it's robot mode (much better color breakup) much more.

Roanstalker, do the elbows get loose, or just the shoulders?

I wonder if the original design had cheat doors, and the designers of this particular toy (presumably there is a common design for this and the Cyberverse) decided to avoid or downplay them with lack of paint.

Shoulders. Wrote wrong lol. His elbows are ratcheting so should last for a long time. Need to reinforce those shoulders to hold that hammer haha.

I think it's just a case of the design being there, and the paint budget just wasn't enough for that part. A lot of Prime figures have some impressive detailing in certain parts that sadly gets completely lost due to lack of paint.

I wish I had customizing ability...

^ Of course that's the default probability, but what makes me wonder is that there is no particular reason for the design to have cheat doors if Ultra Magnus is not going to appear in Prime with a similar design (as I now suspect).

I got him in the mail today, and honestly, I really like him quite a bit. Maybe I am more forgiving of things like him, for others, having a not so convincing alt mode, but I really like him.

His weapon is what every single one of those abominable weapons that OP, Starscream, Dreadwing and to a lesser extent Bulkhead and Megatron have. The fact it has two modes and locks in place, is fantastic.

His arms stick out a bit in robot mode, but that's for transformation, and its not the worst thing in the world.

    Well... yeah.

I think I genuinely like the Cyberverse version more. The Voyager has the one-two punch of the blue not looking as good, AND having a lot more of it. He really needs something to break up that sea of blue. And while the Voyager hammer does look like easily the best of the Powerizer weapons, I like the Cyberverse's hammer better. Looks more like artillery in truck mode, and he can grip it mid-way down in robot mode (not just at the bottom).

I am getting FoC Magnus, ironically.

I was never going to get this one, even when I was at the apex of my excitement for it the Cyberverse was still enough for me. This didn't help.

    Picked him up from overseas.

Has anyone else noticed stress marks in the ball-sockets for his hands? I knocked out one hand cutting the twist-ties from the box & noticed the socket looked stressed. At first I was afraid I'd caused it but the other hand socket appears to have similar stress.
