Masterpiece Takara Tomy MP-11S Sunstorm Before I begin, a big round of applause for edbomberToys Home page Eddie has taken care of me for years and you can't beat his customer service! The guy responds to emails VERY fast and is VERY professional! I'd suggest checking him out; plus, he has a lot of old stuff the bigger stores have long sold out of. So save yourself the eBay pain and buy them from him! You won't be disappointed DISCLAIMER: I don't have a lightbox and my photos suck! I will get better at it eventually Onto the review! Not much to say about transformation that wasn't already covered in the MP-11 and Hasbro TC reviews so I'll skip over that. Let me jump into the meat and potatoes; Box, robot, vehicle, and QC! Box: Not much to see here, just the standard MP box we are used to. Figure color: I'm a BIG fan of the colors TT decided to go with on this release. He really pops on the shelf with his other MP brothers. Also, his paint applications FIT the figure, as opposed to Hasbro's Thundercracker, which seem to be all over the place and excessive. MP 11 and MP 11s Vehicle mode: As mentioned previously, I am truly digging the apps and overall coloring of this figure. To me, Sunstorm appears to be shedding the yellow as he terrorizes the sky searching for Autobots . This is something you'd expect to see in a high priced Frenzy/Rumble custom and NOT a TT release. and for some extra added fun, Sunstorm in flight mode Personally, I think Sunstorm has the nicest jet mode of all the MP seekers. QC: From what I can tell, Sunstorm is very well put together. I don't see any MP-09 style QC issues; Everything locks up nice and tight. Well, with the exception of his torso; however, it is a tighter fit than Starscream. I'm not sure what happened during the transition from MP-03 to MP-11, but that area just doesn't lock into place anymore. Aside from that, no paint chipping, deformed pieces, missing pieces, or anything else that would detract from the overall greatness of this figure. Just my , I'd suggest picking this guy up now while it's under 200 bucks. Knowing that this figure will NEVER come stateside, it wouldn't be hard to imagine him jumping into the 400's like his brother, MP-07 Thundercracker, did before the Hasbro version.
Edbomber is the shit!!! And glad to see a review of this guy, I have 0 connection to him though since I didn't read the dream wave stuff but he does look good Can't wait to get me some new thundercracker and sell my old one Great review chris
while i do want him, i hate that there is a coronations which probably adds a few bucks to him. just not sure how bad i want him.
No kidding. Man, I'm leaning towards caving in, and getting this guy. His color and size just POP. Too bad about his coronation extras-would've been cool if they included something along the lines of custom fires/flames or something you could attach to his hands/wings. Btw, where did you get those stands for your seekers?
^^^ FlightPose - Adjustable Display Stand for Model Aircraft and Collectibles The own of this site is a member here too!
I see your pooch decided to pop in for a few pics. Not that I ever plan on getting him, but I kinda wish his, er, dress-up accessories were at least fiery colors if not flames of some sort. Nigh-identical coronation gear negates all the subtle deco differences between Sunstorm and Starscream.
Huzzah a Sunstorm review!!! He looks great and mine should be arriving sometime early next week, I can't wait! Also a question, how is the shipping from Edbomber Toys? I see something there that I haven't seen on any other site I've been to and would rather buy from an online store instead of Ebay.
Nice! I'm tempted by this guy but the colors leave something to be desired. I'll have to wait until my MP Thundercracker comes in and see how I feel about picking up MP Sunstorm (I already have MP-11 Starscream and really like him). Dreamwave Sunstorm was a beast but a shame IDW Sunstorm died like a punk. XD
Emphasis: A lot of the 'posing' joints on mine at a lot tighter than on my MP11, but the sliding tail fin assemblies on my MP11 were unnervingly tight, and this appears to have been altered on (my) Mp11S.
Interesting.... I don't remember having that problem on Screamer. With him, I just had a CRAZY tight fist! It took a lot of force to finally shake it free.
The wrist swivel and wrist-fold (?) joint on both arms on my Sunstorm were both very tight out of the box, as it stands, still rather tight.
The wrist fold; I don't remember any of the other seekers being that tight. Sunstorm's was a little tight but nothing that made me cringe.
You know I'm not much or an orange fan, but I can't pin it down, this guy just looks PERFECT. The color choice, the fade, the smart and tasteful and LIMITED apps. He just looks ridiculously good IMHO and makes me wish the designer of this guy did MP TC.
