Right on... I guess you do have very bad luck with these things then! I've yet to snap any panels on Inferno, Grapple, Hot Spot or any of my Seekers.

^ Same thing happened to my GDO Wheelie! No silver paint app on the face.. It looked so bad that way I had to fix it myself, and I'm basically never moved to do that.

Ugh, I had written a lengthy post the other day about this guy but I lost it in a forum database fart so here's the short version:

This is actually my first time with this mold, and I'm pleasantly impressed. Way more articulation than I thought, it even has ankle movement! (my one true weakness). It has a nice nostalgic blockiness but it gives him a lot of character, and the truck mode looks very cool in these colors. I thought the windows were painted pitch black but they're actually translucent and he has two molded seats inside (I think?). I like the arm-mounted cannon. The head is insanely cool.

Stupidly, I read that the forearm panels moved back in robot mode and I thought I had to slide them. I forced them a good deal before realizing they have to be rotated instead, but thankfully it wasn't damaged. Pretty dumb of me, but this feature wasn't even mentioned in the instructions. Also I'm at work right now, but I think he doesn't have a faction symbol anywhere?

Overall this is a great figure. They really knocked it out of the park with most of these GDO exclusives, and they didn't skimp in the paint or materials department either (well except in those cases mentioned above, but that was just a QC slip). Totally recommended!

 

I just like it b/c it's looks a little more like the G1 head, with no color. Though if I find another with paint, I'll buy it as well.

 

That's pretty cool! It really evokes his G1 head MORE! I like it.

Actually, the pic that ORIO requested was of Hot Spot's head placed on BotCon Pyro's body.

Heck, it's all your fault because you posted right above him to talk about the panels and then he quoted you on another post directly after but skimming through the thread I thought he was responding to your panel post.

My local TRU must have sold out so, here's the question: would he be worth picking up for $40 (free shipping) from eBay?

 

My advice would be to hold out a tad longer... I have feeling as we get closer to Christmas we're gonna see a bunch of the GDO's and FE's. I think we're just seeing the first trickling a right now. But $40 on eBay vs $23 in store is a choice you'll have to ultimately make!

Although, I do have another dilemma:

I have to also consider traveling back and forth to my local TRU just to see if they have him... it's about 45 minutes to an hour away (I'm in Ferrum, VA and TRU is in Roanoke, so using the term "local" was kind of a stretch) and my truck doesn't get the best mileage. I have to factor in gas prices, etc, into the equation. The way I figure it, I'd probably be better off just ordering Hot Spot off eBay. Filling up the truck ain't cheap. Haha. This is why 95% of my TF buying is done online.  

 

I hear ya, in that case you may be better off getting him online!

 

Good news! They're back in stock at toysrus.com, so I just ordered mine.  

UPDATE: And he's backordered. Guess I'll have to wait a little longer.  

 

Oh I like the black face version a lot I wonder how common an unpainted one is ?

 

Swapped out the TFC-004 Gear of War Inferno ladder onto Hot Spot today.

As it was on Inferno, this ladder is a nice piece. Wish it sat further back on the vehicle than it does. Not bad though.

 

I just got it myself and I love it!

I wanna remove the cannon without breaking it though...
