Well I tried that trick, and it completely ruined the window. It warped it even more than it already was, and it completely fogged up the inside of the plastic. It's completely ruined.

And of course I have no way to get a replacement. This is just wonderful.

    fixing mp10 prime's chest

Ok guys, as soon as you purchase mp10 (if he has chest transformation issues) do this: 1) open prime's chest to reveal the matrix 2) remove the screws near primes abs - they do nothing but scratch chrome. 3) remove the window screws near primes shoulders, close his chest and push on the fake grille, this should seat the window where it should be (you may hear a click as it moves, I did). 4) replace the screws near the shoulders (not the ones near the abs) and hope for the best. Hope this helps some of the chest transformation issues, it worked for me :)

Well, my expectations were blown out of proportion since I've been waiting for this toy since Takara's announcement back in early 2011. While I'm certainly glad I didn't shell out $250+, I still feel like it has a lot of issues for a premium toy.

Mine has the leg issues.. Not too bad though, but I'm surprised by this. I feel like my Hasbro MP-1 is very solid in both modes, even though the alt mode is a bit ugly.

My bumper chrome started chipping as soon as I closed the chest the first time. I was already prepared for this, and it honestly doesn't affect my opinion of the toy too much. But it's clearly gonna be a problem for every copy.

Of concern is a stress mark near the pin holding in his right-side chest panel. I really don't care about how this looks, but if this eventually breaks I'm gonna be devastated.

And finally, my biggest disappointment is that the paint on his right eye was chipped, making it look like he has a pupil.. on only one eye!
If any of you radicon experts can suggest a paint that can match the eyes, I would definitely consider painting over the chip. The beautiful head mold on this toy is what sold me from the very beginning, and it's a bummer that he looks a bit "off."

Are any of these issues going to force me to bring him back or try exchanging him? Hell no! This is still an awesome toy, and clearly the best Optimus that has been released. But I was expecting a bit more, considering he is the second Masterpiece Optimus. The transformation was far too similar to the first toy, and the design seems a bit fragile.

I can't help but feel a bit disappointed, but when you obsess over a toy for more than a year, that's bound to happen!

Finally got the chance to open my Hasbro TRU MP Prime this morning ( with youtube playing The Touch in the background ). Lo and behold, it was plagued with quite a few QC issues. Floppy ankles, loose knee swivels, floppy hip ball swings (the non ratchet direction), back hatch doesn't close up entirely with folded gun stored inside, back hatch hinge has a big paint mess (like assembled while paint is still wet), some random rubbed/scratched chrome parts, gun has some gaps that the screws can't close up, Roller missing the silver pin on its small pinned hinge door...quite a few issues there, to sum it up.

Fortunately, Takara didn't try to hide screws or lock up parts, making disassembling these joints a breeze to do and get to fix a lot of these floppy joints really easy. A screw driver, some small cut up pieces of Glad Cling Wrap (I sandwich these in between joint halves to increase friction on where joints rubs against each other, works like a charm for joints you can take apart, and is very adjustable on how many layers you apply to adjust how tight you want the joint to be), some dental floss trick for the knee swivels are all I need. So after almost an hour of disassembling and testing....BAAAAMMMM!!! MP Prime is on his feet again without flopping around or nose dive. Solid as a rock!

Some of the aesthetics flaws I can live with, and after fixing this bad boy, MP Prime is a pretty nice toy. Awesome ankle movement that allows some very crazy 'A' stance with perfect ground contact. Hands holds gun very well. Fun to handle and pose (even though Prime can use some double elbow & knee joints). Very nice clicky ratchets on hip and knees. My trailer seems fine for the most part, aside some paint rubs or scratches. So in a way, MP-10 kind of lives up to its expectation, not counting its QC execution. It comes very close being the "be all, end all" Prime figure, and it is definitely the best looking G1 style Prime figure we have so far. But I do miss all the diecast and gimmick features it lacks in comparison to MP-01, even though its smaller size doesn't bother me at all (like the new size matching up other MPs & smaller bots). It is a pretty good value for $100 figure. But with the same execution, I can see myself having some buyer's remorse if this cost me $250 instead.

So for folks that are still waiting on finding or getting one, don't set your expectations sky high, and get ready to bust your chops and fix some floppy joints. It is a nicely designed figure with quite a few execution flaws. But if you can get it fixed, it will be a very good and playable TF with very good looks.

My Takara MP-10 does that. One problem is doesn't have is the bumper chrome getting dented or scratched by screws, although getting the windows to sit flush can be finicky at times.

Got mine the other day and the right chest window piece sits higher than the left, the screws inside the chest windows scratched the bumper and the legs don't like to stay together in truck mode.

Wow. That's it right there. Problem solved. Although the right chest piece on mine is still slanted but I think that's due to the pin not inserted straight on the hinge.

But thanks for the heads up! That definitely make the thing close properly now.

To those having trouble with the legs staying tabbed in place in truck mode, have you been tabbing the feet together as well? Sounds stupid but I only just discovered that they slide together and help hold everything in place.

Yep, same issues on mine. So far, I'm underwhelmed. MP-1 still holds the top spot for me.

If the feet on your mp-10 won't tab in:

    1. slide the legs all the way up (the legs should be in the exact position that allows the chromed tanks to tab into the thigh)
    2. push the legs together and tab them
    3. push the feet together and tab them
    3. once the feet and legs are tabbed together give both a good squeeze (hard but not too hard, we don't want to break a $100+ toy)

My mp-10's leg tabs work fine now.

My mp-10 has a bit of paint rub. I've compared the paint on mp-10 to the paints in my customizing toolbox... and ... I believe that we can fix those minor scratches in mp-10's waist and bumper silver with a light dab of Game Workshop mythril silver.

Also, make sure your mp-10 has all the stickers attached! My first mp-10 was missing the left break lights on the trailer!

EDIT: Toys R Us has a coupon for 20% off of a $100 purchase, making mp-10 cost only $80 plus tax. Compared to the $250+ original issue, the TRU version purchased with that coupon is a steal of a deal. TRU coupon is at their website. Front page. Good till the 22nd of this month.

Unfortunately, if you use that coupon, it's only 15% since his price is 99.99. It says it on the coupon too, it's stupid. I'm going to find something that's a dollar or 2 to get the 20% haha.
