Wasn't digging this guy in pics at all, but my collection lacked a Springer so I picked it up. I like it a lot better in person! I'm not even bugged by the feet, and the oddly narrow torso isn't a problem at all when I've got the figure posed. Hips are pretty loose, but some Future should fix that.

My only real problem: my Springer has stress marks where the wings attach to the body. I don't think they're likely to break (the stresses don't seem to be getting worse) and I'm gradually accepting the reality that any TF I get is probably going to have stress marks somewhere, but I still cringe every time I see them.

(I'm still sad about my Classics Starscream breaking months later -- after they were all gone from shelves and commanding super high prices on eBay. :/)

I'm sorry but as much of a good figure this Springer is I still can't ignore the fact that they basically stuck a classics head onto a mold that is still part of the movie line. I already have the Target exclusive Cybertron Evac redeco as my classics Springer, though he could definitely use a sword. With that in mind I'm considering re-purposing this figure as part of my movie collection.

A little off topic here, but I have a suggestion. You can easily make a sword for the Evac redeco Springer by shaving a little bit of plastic off of any of the blades he comes with. Just make sure you don't cut off the nubs that hold the blade into the rotor assembly.

I really like this guy. He's really fun to mess aroud with and I'm a sucker for melee weapons. I like using the tail of the alt-mode as a shield. I mean, it's there so I may as well use it. :lol

His headsculpt and light piping are so nice!

He makes quality stuff. He's working with a 3D printer so it there are naturally more limitations than what an actual toy company with access to casts, molds and a warehouse full of assembly workers would have.

Gee, thanks. I'm constantly upgrading the printer and my knowledge of it so the prints get better every day.

Here's a pic in his newest incarnation - I added a gun to the kit to balance out the vehicle modes. I will make it in gray once the plastic arrives.

sorry, what i meant to say is: IMO, it's kind of a little too simplistic looking and doesn't quite look right with the toy due to the toy's movie asthetic. Also, because it came from a 3D Printer you can really tell, the pieces are a bit on the messy side.

But..., it works for you, and that is all that matters right? :)

It also works for the many that have bought it, apparently.

The way I worded my original reply came off really dickish, i feel bad. :(

Sorry, MegaMoonMan. I'm sure you worked pretty hard on that kit.

I need to word stuff better next time. :)

No biggie. It does look better in real life, I can't take a decent pic to save my life and close ups really do bring out all the little flaws.

I really need to update my stock photos, most of them are of stuff I printed months ago before I got better at it.

I like this mold a lot, and I like it as Springer. I first was passing on this figure, but ended up getting it. I like it a whole lot.

You can also fiddle with the vehicle mode a bit. Owning the figure, i know that there are a lot of different ways to configure the unofficial third mode, and it takes awhile to line everything up. The problem's not with the kit, it's with trying to find the best arrangement when everything doesn't lock into place.

I like the addition of a gun, though. Does it incorporate into car mode? Can you replace the helicopter blades with it? I think having replacement helicopter props that can turn into a sword would be another great addition. I already have wheels for my springer, but add enough extras like this, and i'd buy a set.

The gun can be used in car mode, check out my sales thread for pics. I could easily make blades that turn into a sword but that would mean people would have to take him all to pieces and remove the original blades (looks intricate and messy) or cut them off. I like to keep my stuff as harmless to the original as possible, in case anybody wants to go back.

Looks cool! A tip for the car mode: if you include a piece that plugs into the open end of both missle launchers that form the front wheels, it will have more stability and look more solid. I plug them together under the cockpit, and it looks great.

I personally think it's pretty awesome looking. I plan to order one as soon as I recover from Christmas shopping.
