I was so excited to finally have this figure, and boy does it SUCK!

Anyone who claims that this is better than the Prime RID figure is probably only saying that to justify their spending of big bucks for the figure back in the day. I spent 25 per figure (I have 2), and I feel ripped off.

The plastic feels cheap, just as cheap as the Prime RID figures...and they should feel like this! My first First Edition figures (Starscream, Bumblebee, Arcee) feel much better in terms of plastic and how the joints move...although Bumblebee had a loose arm joint but that's fixed.

The Vehicon has SO many problems. First, no matter what I do...I cannot get the arm pegs to slot into the chest slots. Then, the bottom triangle piece will not go into the slot all the way...plus it likes to fall off. Then you get to deal with the back kibble constantly getting in your way, and I have noticed so many areas were the plastic is rough and have seen small pieces come off while I was transforming it back and forth. My guess would be that they were not cleaned (or sanded) properly.

THEN I get to deal with a wheel that WILL NOT MOVE at all! Plus it has some silver paint on the tire (no big deal, but a problem none the less).

So I do not know if these NEW First Editions are in fact cheaply made compared to the very first release...or they have always been like this. I have my Prime RID Vehicon right by the First Edition and transformed each one time to compare the two. First Edition is pure crap, and they LEARNED from their mistakes when making the Prime RID version.

I'd give the First Edition Vehicon a 6/10. I had such high hopes for this figure, and now...I won't even attempt to army build this piece of crap. I'd rather look for the superior Prime RID figure instead. THANK GOD I never purchased this on Ebay for 80 bucks earlier this year.

I bought both versions for the same price at the same time. Toys R Us has just re-released the First Edition deluxes. I prefer the first edition because its paint aps are vastly superior, it looks better in car mode, and it just looks more dangerous in robot mode because of its proportions.

I am having none of the problems you describe, so it might just be your figure.

Ditto. I have absolutely NO QC issues with my FE Vehicon. He's constructed perfectly and certainly does not have flimsy, cheap feeling plastic. That thing is SOLID as a rock. Haven't had a single piece pop off once and his arms and chest peg together perfectly. Yeah, for $16, I'm COMPLETELY satisfied with this figure. :)

Uh...the First Editions don't have stickers. They have paint apps. Only the PRID figures have stickers.

I actually prefer Hasbro's FE coloring for this guy. Hmm.

Ah! Glad to see I'm not the only one who sees him as a command character and the PRID as an underling. Yay! Likemindedness FTW. Although, I disagree on one thing... I see the FE as being the more accurate figure. Yes, there's no kibble on the PRID, which is one point for it. However, the FE's legs are very accurate, especially with the spikes coming out of it and their placement. The feet, too. The arms are a win for the PRID, but the FE's car mode is certainly more accurate, especially in size. Each one has their pros and cons, and if you could take the accurate pieces from both figures, you could Frankenstein a masterpiece Vehicon.

    Another "they're a hierarchy" thinker. Yesssss... :D

The head on mine nestles in quite deep without fear of scratching. Are you sure you have the head/neck piece transformed correctly?

    Here's my take on it:

Prid makes better use of what it's got.
FE has got more to make use of.

They both come out pretty freakin' great. But Prid is undoubtedly the better sillohette while FE is undoubtedly made with a higher standard, materials-wise.

I'm having a hard time deciding which to get. I dont own either so what Ive read and seen in pics is all I have to go by. I want to troop build with one but can't decide which. The elbow joint for the PRID looks like crap. At first I thought the fogure looked amazing but now that Ive seen that joint in some angles, I know my eye will always be drawn to it in person. Conversely the kibble on the FE irritates me.

Is there an easy way to mod the kibble from the FE off? Would the FE look ok from the back without it? That would be my ideal solution if possible.

Actually, it is the elbow of the FE that is crap. It has nothing to pivot at the bicep, so it can only bend straight forward.

Both toys are great. Gun to my head, I choose PRID.

Yeah this. As much as I defend the FE and really do like the FE... go for the PRiD for troop building, crazy good articulation etc. Also, it DOES have a wonky elbow joint. But it is to it;s benefit. And those benefits greatly outweigh anything else. Hell, I don't even think it looks weird.

    You mean Arms Micron.

    PRID are fully painted.

its interesting that you are having a lot of issues with FE vehicon, i find the toy is really solid with the chest plate clipping in fine, the arm struts clip into the chest adequately, not perfectly but the whole thing is definitely solid upon completion, im finding it one of the better made recent toys considering how many parts its got, the little flap on mine can come out but generally stays in pace for the transformation. I found FE bee that i got initailly to be cheaper feeling and with lots of loose parts. I guess its QC issues again,

the FE elbow can wiggle a bit too but the PRID elbows, weird as they are have waay more articulation.

I've had 2 of these so far. One with a broken windshield, one with the rear window cracked. Both with the driver side tire so tight the hinge it flips on is stressed And looks like it will surely break. Overall, I do like it, it's a cool figure. But if i had to choose one, I'd keep my PRID.

Man, I'm really grateful that the Vehicon I picked up seems to have 0 QC issues! Sounds like this may be a rarity... As I've said before the one I have (purchased 2 weekends ago) is perfect. Rock solid. Feeling lucky.

Mine's perfect as well. I compared it against the reported QC issues and it doesn't ehxibit any of them.
    Lucked out, I guess.

I wasn't talking specifically about functionality but just looks. It's the one part of the RID Vehicon that really makes it look like a toy. With the exception of the kibble on the FE, it just looks better overall.

To any FE owners, how would the figure look if you just removed the kibble backpack? Would the back look like it's obviously missing something?

Yes. The back isn't as good looking as the RiD one, and the lack of a backpack would be obvious.

Mine has only one issue. The gun does not stay pegged into the arm! I have to plug it to the lower peghole and then it just looks like he has no hand since the gun is barely noticeable

The gun pegs into the left arm better than the right. The spike on the back of it interferes with the hand and causes it to pop out easily, whereas ha spike barely misses colliding with the left hand.

That's how it's supposed to work.

You fold the hand in, plug the gun into the hole just beneath it. It's in the instructions.

I also put it on the left as well, because of the part you mentioned. It helps to fold up all of the arm kibble (as close as possible) and makes it look seamless.
