SLEEP?! Whats that? Why would I do that when there are new robits to play with!?

First off, I really, really, really like this guy. After approaching ten hours in the custom class, I developed an extreme dislike for this mold. That changed as soon as I cracked open this years box set (my first) and started fiddling with this 'bot. Armada Sideswipe homage aside, he is pretty damn cool. That being said, my Treadshot does have an issue. Like voyager FE Optimus Prime, Treadshot's head balljoint was not sitting in the socket. Unlike FE Prime, it wasn't super easy to fix. This wouldn't be a big deal except that, because it was sitting a little further back, turning the head left or right pressed on the back of the hood and forced it to start flipping up from the front. I found this unacceptable so I resolved to fixor it. (Yes, I really use that word IRL.) One side of the head was glued together for some reason; a quick blast from a hair dryer losened it enough for me to pry it apart after removing the screw. The new head's socket is just slightly too small for the ball, so even when I pushed the ball into the socket it would pop out after moving it around a bit. I tried trimming the ball joint down with an exacto knife but it didn't really help. I ended up jamming a wad of masking tape behind Treadshot's chin, which is just empty space, to prevent the ball from popping out. While not the most elegant solution, it worked. This actually brought up another issue though; clearance. Since the head now sits a little bit more forward, I find that it sometimes doesn't quite clear the top of the hood. It can if I slowly lift the hood and adjust the head a bit, and this was deemed an acceptable trade off. Another downside is he can't look down because of the tape but, eh. I'm OK with it. The tape idea actually came from one of the FunPub guys during the custom class. He was suggesting using masking tape on the alternate Shockwave head for Longarm to shore up the ball joint, instead of nail polish due to possible negative effects on the resin. I think his name was Sean? Anyway, thanks for that suggestion even though I used it on a different version of the mold!

(I would have painted Longarm but I was kinda tired of looking at him when it was starting to approach ten hours working on him...)

And now, off to take more pictures. Surely this will actually happen because its not like I got three hours of sleep before the custom claszzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Very nice. The color scheme and the new head really set him well apart from Jazz. And that is always a plus.

I have to figure out how to transform him, he's the first version of the mold I own. I had some random guy who was waking by do it for me, had a nice pow-wow sit down breaking open my box. The head looks pretty cool when held up to a light source.

I split a box set just for him. Gonna slap an autobot logo over and maybe some flame decals and make him Classics Nightbeat!

I like this deco the most out of the box set...but I have no clue who his character is so I can't really care about the toy.

I think this is the nicest looking figure in the set. The colors look great together.

It's one of the better ones from the box set but personally I think Kick-off turns out even better. I talked with some people at the HOF dinner and they seem to favor Kick-off too.

    BTW nice Longarm/Shockwave.

Thanks! Hopefully I'll get around to actually painting him after classes wrap up. Bought a United Jazz at Botcon to replace RtS Jazz, who will either be painted into Longarm or Shockwave... Eventually.

That head is REALLY good. I want to see Hasbro use it (it is the alt. head for the mold).

I agree he has a rather cool deco and I like the alternate head on him but have no knowledge of the character.

Would this head work for Dead End and/or Jackpot? Not sure who else could fit this mold.

That stripe in alt mode looks like it is suspended over the hood because of the gaps on this mold. Not bad, but not as cool as Kick-off. Thanks for the pics.

I think the mold is a lot more versatile than we give it credit for. That said, it's not really a Dead End head. Great general robot head though.

One of the better looking figures from the set. And different enough to not be Jazz. Too bad you had so many problems with the head. But still, really cool.

Might be my favorite of the show...but again the SG doesn't make sense. Would be worlds better with a red Autobot symbol.
