I can't wait to see this!

On a slightly related note: I also think that this (and the upcoming Voyager mold) would make a great Jet Fire repaint. Alas I lack the time and the skills to make any of these happen, but maybe Hasbro would consider it. Also how cool would it be to have Jet Fire in the show? He could even go "undercover" and partner up with Agent Fowler, who's always flying that particular jet.

On topic: Still one of my favorite Cyberverse models!

I was about to post something about this... I definitely do NOT like the arms pegged into the wings in alt mode. The weapons on mine also fit pretty loose just about wherever I put em. Otherwise, great little figure. I like Ironhide better, though.

I'm only posting this because I was sorting my Photobucket account and thought it was fitting:

Looking at the photos of Voyager Dreadwing has left me both disappointed (too skinny, awful kibble in alt mode) and anxious (it’s Dreadwing and all things considered it still looks like a fun toy) so I’ve been fiddling a lot with the Cyberverse version and decided to make a few modifications that make it even better and more streamlined.

Using an Xacto blade I shaved the clear yellow peg off the top of the jet because I’m never going to use that gimmick. Then I cut off the single landing gear wheel from the underside because having only one looks stupid so why have any at all? After that I removed the long clear yellow peg under the cockpit. This last piece pegs into a slot and looks like it helps hold the torso in place for bot mode, but it’s actually one of two tabs and removing it made no difference – he still holds together very tightly.

They’re just simple cosmetic changes but I think Dreadwing looks a lot better in alt mode without those extra knobblies and bits sticking out. I also realized while working on this thing that it’s my favorite Prime toy out of everything that has been released and also one of my favorite TFs of all time. I’ve got three of him so far and can’t wait to buy three Skyquakes and whatever other decos they release.

Isn't he amazing? I love how his shoulders fold out of his plane front. The crazy shoulderpads Prime has in general are attaked so well in Cyberverse.

Skyquake is very nice as well. The paint on his face is more evenly coated and lined up. This is just a great mold.

Does anyone know what the wing joints are for? I can't figure it out for the life of me.

He doesn't have any. I thought he did, but I nearly snapped the wing off trying to fiddle with it.

They're just pins. The wings need to be affixed to the body somehow, because a piece as large as the entire wingspan of Dreadwing wouldn't be feasible. It's too thin for a screw and in too perilous a spot for glue. So there's pins.

You can, but I don't know if you should. When I folded one wing in it pulled the pin out of the hole and the wing has been loose ever since.

I think mine'll be alright, but I definitely won't force anything past where it wants to go. Guess this is what happens when you've got engineering changes down the line hah.

I initially thought so too - but it's just his shoulder armor that was confusing me, I realized my mistake when I looked up screenshots from the show...

Robot Mode: Being one of the bigger Decepticons in the TV series, Dreadwing was given the larger of the two size classes available in the Cyberverse subline (not a given), making him a commander and on a scale with good guy Cyberverse figures like Optimus Prime and Bulkhead. And he is exactly what I expect from a good Cyberverse figure, meaning a pretty faithful downscaled version of the larger Voyager class toy. The basic design is the same, the look is the same, he’s just smaller and, naturally, a tad simpler. Otherwise, though, Dreadwing remains Dreadwing.

Sporting good articulation and nice detailing, the smaller Commander figure also manages to beat out its bigger cousin in at least one aspect: weapons. Unlike the blocky, unwieldy light-up monstrosity Voyager Dreadwing is forced to carry, Commander Dreadwing has a nicely proportioned sword and cannon that are a close match to the weapons he carries in the TV series. He can wield both in his hands or fasten them to his forearms.

All in all Dreadwing is probably as great a robot as is possible in this size class and I think he’s just as good as his bigger cousin, just downsized for the Cyberverse line. Very nicely done. Thumbs up.

Alternate Mode: Just like his larger cousin Dreadwing transforms into a modified Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II jet fighter. Unsurprisingly he suffers from the same big undercarriage syndrome most jet Transformers have, but other than that there is little bad I can say here. A good-looking jet, just don’t pay too close attention to the rear where the hands and feet of the robot mode are visible (though not quite as visible as on the Voyager version). So bottom line: a nice jet mode. Not spectacular, but fully sufficient.

Remarks: I’ve already complained in Dreadwing’s Voyager review about the Prime TV series’ tendency to kill off all the interesting characters before they can actually *gasp* develop. It happened with Breakdown, it happened again with Dreadwing, who was gunned down in his prime in Prime (but not by Prime). Unlike Breakdown, though, Dreadwing at least managed to get quite a few toys onto the (non-Japanese) toy shelves.

While I’m not personally a big fan of the Cyberverse line, I do like the idea behind it: putting the entire cast of the TV show (and then some) into a line of smaller, affordable, easily handled toys for the smaller kids. And Dreadwing is a prime example (you see the joke I did there? Did you?) of how to do it right. Recommended to all Cyberverse fans.
