Finally found him this week and I think he's fantastic! In most respects I like him better than the FE, but as TCracker said it's good to have both versions. Probably not as impressive of a $20 Voyager as FE is impressive as a $10 deluxe. But FE doesn't go for $10, especially in the states, so that's a non factor IMO. I think that the Voyager is better in both bot and plane modes. The ankle kibble, while less aesthetically pleasing, makes him MUCH more stable when standing, an improvement over the ridiculous tiny feet and heels of the Deluxe. The head and face sculpt on the RID version are also much better, and he has single missiles/nullrays for his arms which are more accurate. The deluxe looks a bit more seamless on top in plane mode but the Voyager hides the legs (very) slightly better and I am a sucker for clear (as opposed to painted) canopies on plane transformers, and Voyager Starscream has a large clear purple canopy which I love. Terrific figure IMO!

    Hey guys, quick question:

In robot mode, is Starscream's torso supposed to peg in place and lock? Mine is floppy and I see what looks to be pegs, but the damn thing won't lock to save my life.

Yes, it is supposed to. However the peg is poorly designed and doesn't really lock like it should. If you have trouble with it popping out (like I did), you may want to use an exacto knife to cut out the excess plastic which pushes out the waist from the torso. You can follow this up with the Pledge with Future Shine trick to tighten up the joint and gain an extra bit of bowing articulation. (See a few pages back for more info.)

Picked up this guy yesterday and I think he is fantastic! I never had the chance to own the FE for a reasonable price, but I feel perfectly okay with this figure! Jet mode is great, Bot mode is excellent! Like said before the ankle-thrusters don't bother me. I did disassemble the head and take out the head crest to red-sharpie it.

The torso joint on mine was loose as well, but I put a thin layer of superglue on the peg and a little inside the hole and it holds together perfectly!
    Love this toy!!

    Love this figure!

Couldn't believe how bad the MechTech weapon was... Until I took out the spring!

Starscream is pretty nice, I really like what they did having his MechTech weapon lighting up his torso/spine. I do prefer the FE but I have no regrets picking this version up.

Yeah, I gotta agree with the last few sentiments; he's pretty damn awesome, especially the articulation, single missiles, and surprisingly, the Mechtech weapon. It has a lot more moulded details to make it look convincing as a gun, so with a strategically placed rubber band to hold it open, it's quite serviceable. Unfortunately, mine suffers from some series moulding defects on his face. >> He's got, like, what look like smears on his face that were made while the plastic was still soft. Has anyone else seen similar quality control problems on their Starscreams?

The figure itself is still rock-solid, though. Hopefully I can get a replacement head off someone on the forums.

Since he spends so much time by himself - his size doesn't bother me at all.

It hasn't been since the 2nd season that he's really spent much time on-screen with anyone else.

Yes, mine does also, I have pictures and I'm sure I know which part is causing it but, I can't get to the pics right now I'll reply later with more information on what I found.

The two spots marked are what hold his butt in place.

The top red spot or should I say hole, has dual purposes. The area above the red marked area, is for when he's in ALT mode, it's the part that keeps the nose cone in place, the marked area, is specifically for when he's in bot mode.

The nub that's marked, on mine looks like it's too long, so when it goes into the "slot" (the top marked area) it pushes itself back out. If I had the money for a second one, then I'd try to cut it, shave it down by just a little, but without them money to replace him if I screw it up, I won't do it.

Anyone care to try out this theory?
