I'll take a good robot mode over a "cool transformation"

Well, I like to transform my figures and don't want a boring transformation.

Can't wait to get one of these myself. Although what I'd really like is to see what one of our great Radicons could do with one of these, this mold looks like it would be AMAZING in the proper shades of red.

I'll buy him. I'm a sucker for these RiD deluxe figures, especially the ones that don't suck. He isn't perfect, but he looks good enough.

He looks far too herpaderp for me to even consider outside of a major sale price. More money for Vehicons really.

Thats a DAMN good way to put all my blabbering into one solid statement.

I dunno..I mean..the general locations of the parts and such are close to where they belong..but this one just does not capture the character for me.

The way the shoulders curve on the CGI model really attract me to the design. I dunno...They cant win em all, but they sure have been doing WELL with this line.

Heh, the toy expression looks embarassed. I find this appropriate - compared to Vehicon it's a pretty shambolic effort imo. The paint job looks terrible, the figure looks extremely delicate and it simply isn't worth £13.

    Pass.

Thanks for showing us how he actually transforms. I swear, Hasbro's stock photographers couldn't make heads or tails of this thing. Glad to see it ends up better than previous pictures would have us believe.

That said... isn't Knockout's face supposed to be white?

Especially since an "innovative transformation" usually involves doing something unnecessary and tedious just for the sake of being "fresh", that misses the point that truly good, innovative engineering should be efficient, stable and aesthetic. Too often, we get overly complicated, flawed transformations when some Takara engineer decides to "fix" something that probably wasn't broken to begin with. :)

But wouldent you agree, with designers trying new approaches to making these toys do what they do, is just better overall for the brand? You can see a stark trend in engineering and ingenuity from the TFTM movie to now. The stuff we have today would not have been possible without fresh ideas, and designers trying new things.

I LOVE G1 stuff..but would this fan base be so large if all the toys were still on that level? Myself, I LOVE the puzzleformers. I LOVE intricate rubics cube type transformations like ROTF. but I think designers honed new skill sets over the years, and refined them to produce the great stuff we have now.

All of that...comes from innovative transformations.

i really like complicated transformations as well. especially when they're complicated in order to make them more accurate.

as for knock out.. i think they did the best they could do. especially with the shape of the front end of the car. it's not rounded like it ends up being in robot mode. so there's not much they could do as far as that's concerned. i do wish he had a collar of sorts up by his neck like he does in the show.

the arms however, are accurate, his windows are supposed to stick off of his arms like that i believe.

I'll probably end up getting him anyway (I mean, seriously. KNOCKOUT.), but I'm quite disappointed in his toy design. :(  Of course, not disappointed enough to close-up my wallet. I suppose that's the risk that you run when you have such an awesome, sleek, and slender design on screen; it can be very difficult to accurately translate it to a figure, especially a deluxe.

So, uh, Hasbro? Yeah, I'm gonna' need a Leader class Knockout, okay? Okay.
