I will try to improve my painting skills in future. Sorry that it was such an eyesore to you. My apologies.

    Sorry, no offense intended.

I'm just so crazy anal about my figs that I end up painting nothing because I'm scared of not "getting it right". Doesn't mean I haven't seen some awesome customs or that what I like should be what other people do with their own figures.

Lots of room in this hobby for all preferences IMHO.

Besides, even IF I wasn't a fan of this particular custom of yours, I've seen some of your other stuff and lots of it is just sick. Particularly impressed recently with your work with RiD Prime.

You've done some pretty sweet work T, I wouldn't be apologizing. Rims are hard to brush paint sometimes period. How do you think I learned the "flat black on tires makes them look real" technique? :lol  I'm not saying you did mess up either before this gets taken wrong(it looks good, especially the bot mode). I have done it plenty of times to know is what I meant.

Pretty much what I meant by my original comment anyway, i.e. that I think that painting rims would be darn near impossible for "me" to get right and that "not perfect" would bug obsessive compulsive me.

Oh they'll drive you mad if you're the least little bit OCD-ish. If you hit a spoke accidentally and flip paint down the side or something like that. That's always fun. :lol  I know that's what you meant though.

I really like how compact his alt mode is, even though the colors are hideous, almost worse in person. It's also aggrivating that Hasbro had the gold paint out but only chose to use it on two tiny hood details, skipping the rims completely. :/

Speaking of the tires, I really dislike how they are attached. Instead of a nicely spinning pin arrangement like most carbots, they are held on with friction clips. Not the worst thing in the world, but they lend a cheapness to the toy and don't roll particularly well.

I'm also a bit irked by Hasbro's recent trend with leg articulation where the otherwise free-moving ball/socket joint is foiled by thighs that are so thick they hit the waist if you try to bend them forward more than 30 degrees or so.

Other than those complaints, I enjoy this thing a lot more than I was expecting to. The door arms actually look great when transformed correctly.

I'd really like to see this mold painted with the same metallic silver as HA Jazz. Not sure who that character would be but from a purely aesthetic point of view I think it would look fantastic.

Knock Out's vehicle mode is a lot smaller in person than it seemed in pics. Really, it is about the same size as RtS Windcharger or RotF Dead End (scout). Nonetheless, he's really cool in both modes; I'd rank him just below Wheeljack and Soundwave (I don't have a Vehicon yet, so I can't compare) out of the RiD Deluxes. I just ordered a second one to try doing a show-accurate paint job on. He's got a lot of potential that I think could be brought out with some custom painting.

Got this guy today and after fiddling around with his transformation he looks pretty damned cool when transformed correctly.

Did a couple of fix-ups on my Knock-Out. The wheel rims and also the inside shoulders, to make it more cartoon accurate. It doesn't show up too well in the pics, but the black and gold looks much better than the red plastic.

I finally out Knockout but I'm not happy with him. I got most of the Prime line and I was impressed of most it. But Knockout is disappointing. He's smaller than Wheeljack, his arm hinges are pointless, and the rear wheels barely roll on a flat surface. Seems to me that all the designer's creativity with into the Vehicon and Knockout was a afterthought.:2c:

^Pretty much this. I had very high expectations for Knockout after seeing most of the Prime figures looking so good. Some of you might have seen my radicon thread of him after a full repaint. But something inside me just screams that he could be better engineered.

Damn dude. Everytime you paint up something that I think looks like shit, I turn my opinion around, except with this one. Not your painting..just the figure. Its just not him, and looks crappy.

Mabye this is just an Impossible CGI model to duplicate.its possible the shoulders on the CGI model dont match to anything with the car, so mabye thats why it just dont look right. Actually, to me, the entire torso is so far off from the CGI model it looks like it could be a different character

Nice attempt at a save though! You know what they say about polishing turds..

I agree with you 100%. Until and when hasbro decides to do a more accurate Knockout, I am just going to buy another Knockout and mod him to another character, ie - swap heads, hands and feet.

    Sideswipe anyone? :D

    That's probably the case.

Knockout's shoulders are way more curved, more like the front fenders of a Veyron.

Knockout's vehicle mode is decidedly not a Veyron.

There's no possible way they can make his fenders bend to make them all full and poofy for that fur coat effect.
