I don't know If I would read to much into it, Wal-mart Starscream and I assume the Takara release of that color scheme had a matching a blue nose cone under the silver paint also.

My thing is that if they used the grey on the nose cone, why not go the rest of the way and match the plastic to it.. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like the plastic just fine. I'm sure it looks even better in person, but I was really hoping for the same grey color that was on the prototype that was shown everywhere, which is what is on the painted nosecone.

Whoa! I'm actually surprised that the nose cone is actually blue plastic in colour! I'm also puzzled why TakaraTomy didn't mould that part entirely gray also. Maybe if this version of Starscream is released in the States, Hasbro will give him a blue nose cone?

I think it may have to do with the molds, for example, maybe all the blue parts are all in one mold "tray"? Therefore the nose being molded in blue.

As for matching the grey of the nose, painting the rest of the grey parts to match would've been more expensive.

I wish TakaraTomy would've at least gave it a subtle grey wash so the lines would be more apparent yet not stick out like a sore thumb.

I hear ya there SD. A wash with a slightly darker gray really would of helped the details. I may not have this yet, but I know that a wash helps every time when done right.

    Gang-molding.

Starscream's nosecone has always been the same colour as his hands. It's just always ended up painted, for whatever reason. Probably because of cartoon accuracy, more than anything.

But what's done is done, and they're not going to go around re-arranging the mold layouts at this stage of the game.

I think you're right. I've been playing around with mine, and transformed it a few times. Overall the past weakness of the mold seem to have been addressed, with the exception of the nosecone.
The nosecone is the only part of mine that feels fragile, I'm tempted to just glue the damn thing on. The wings, and every other part of it move smoothly, and feel sturdy.

I love the changes to the mold, and if this is a sign of the direction Takara/Tomy is moving in, then I'm very much looking forward to future Masterpiece figures.

I cleaned, and lightly sanded the nose cone after removing the paint, and replaced the front con symbol with a smaller one(Mine was missing some paint). I'm very happy with how it looks:

Hi everybody, I received my MP-11 one week ago, I'm very happy, can't stop playing with it, but... I think I have an issue with the right hip joint: when I move the right leg up and down (i.e. doing the "splits"), I can't hear the "clicks", and the leg seems a bit loose. I tried to tighten the screw, but it didn't help... Everything's right with his left leg.
    Someone has experienced something similar?
    Thank you!

Man everything looks great except for the friggen straight feet. Just wondering how easy it would be to mod the feet for some ankle tilt.

Got mine today! My first seeker mold and he's perfect! Can't wait till TC and SW are released, Starscream's lonely without his brothers.
