Here is something you do not see everyday. Before getting these sets recently I have not seen any images of the box opened and how the figures were arranged in the boxes and I think these are a rare item that many people might not know about. I feel that these sets aside from Lucky Draw items and unreleased items from the first movie line are one of the coolest and rarer sets. So ere is a quick review of 2 awesome sets that were available in 2008 at the Ani-Con Hon Kong Games convention in Hong Kong. I will just mostly show the sets and not review the figures as we already know them well. These sets were created especially for this convention to commemorate Hasbro's first appearance at this convention. Box outer boxes of the set have like a leather/vinyl type feel with half an insignia on each box with raised detailing. There were 2 sets available. One being the Autobots, which came with premium USA leader class Prime, Premium USA voyager class Ironhide, regular USA voyager Ratchet, premium USA deluxe Bumblebee and premium USA deluxe Jazz. The set also came with a certificate of authenticity. The Decepticon set include premium USA leader class Megatron, premium USA voyager class Deep Space Starscream, premium USA voyager class Blackout with Scopronok, premium USA deluxe Barricade and regular deluxe Japanese Brawl (which I believe is no different than USA, only that this set had his Japanese instructions). So enjoy the pictures, sorry for the lack laster of the Autobot set as I gave it to a friend and did the photos some where else. Autobots: Decepticons:
Dang, that is cool! And it's giving me nostalgic feelings about trying to collect all the first movie characters. Man, I miss those days.....
Too bad Bonecrusher isn't included, he's the only Cybertronian missing. Are the faction insignias fairly visible in-person? I can barely make them out in the photos.
yeah the insignias are better in person, was hard to get a good shot of them. i think for the CON set they went with the CONS that had most appearance in the film. Bonecrusher was not in the film long.
Pat Lee maybe got paid to drawr Transformers again after Dreamwave collapsed? Huh. Didn't know that. Anyway, those sets are pretty dang cool.
