News Credits: 6 | Transformers Prime Voyager Optimus Prime Review & Pics The much-anticipated "Transformers Prime" toyline is hitting certain shelves at last! And what better way to celebrate than by looking at everyone's favorite Autobot Leader? SUPER HERO TIME!!!The Internet's greatest tokusatsu podcast about Pokemon, Star Trek, Transformers, and Your Mom.This version of Optimus (like most Voyagers nowadays) is packaged in Robot Mode but I'll start in Vehicle Mode just to keep things clear. ![]() Optimus Prime is once again a heavy-duty truck similar to the live-action film series but retaining the more traditional red & blue color pattern. ITs well built, rolls fine & doesn't have any obvious robot-parts trying to hide anywhere which is usually good. The smokestacks are made of a soft almost rubbery plastic and keep falling off when transforming so I might have to fix that later. ![]() Robot Mode also retains a majority of traditional "Optimus" effects- the window chest, the wheels behind legs and again the general color layout. I like the more heroic proportions given to Prime here; he's literally built like a fighter. Prime Prime's articulation level is very impressive- he has fully mobile knees, rotating legs, a waist joint, wrist joints, and full elbow movement. My ONE complaint is that the shoulder connections (plugging the arms into the Vehicle Mode wheels) aren't quite as solid as they should be- its too easy to pop the arms out while moving. ![]() Optimus retains his signature weapons in this release- an Energon Saber & an Ion Blaster. Both weapons fit snugly into Prime's hands but still allow complete articulation in the wrists. The sword is made of the same "Safety" plastic as the smokestacks, which also disappointed me. I am already prepared to list Prime Prime in my Top 5 Optimus Designs Ever- great design, fantastic articulation and all-around incredibly fun to play with. Can't remember the last time I actually enjoyed an Optimus this much. Absolutely recommended! ![]() Twitter: Paladin4221 |

BLITZWING ARM FIXThis reinforces my opinion that these prime toys incredibly over-hyped. Thanks for the review, but I see no way this even comes close to BBOP for a voyager. More for u guys! 15 minute job to fix your blitzwing arms so they lock in how they should from the factory. |
