Just got mine from BBTS, in addition to the missing paint, the sword came bent beyond belief and was assembled with two right ankles (the metallic brown piece). I'll just keep the packaging and hope I find one at TRU to exchange. What a letdown, the design of this toy is exceptional and yet factory errors really soured me on it (and I'm not even talking about the paint, just the mold errors).

optimus has made his way into san jose ca. so i picked one up. i was surprised at how heavy he felt (5.68oz), but he's still lighter than bulkhead (6.75oz). then i was taken back a bit by how easily the arms peg out of the wheels, but all the joints are very stiff anyway. aside from that, i really do like this guy and am very happy with him. don't seem to see any issues except for one of the lines on the red/blue paint on the backpack isn't as clean. here are some pics:

Are the latest FE primes from TRU having the unpainted part in vehicle mode? Either way I want him.

i feel so late to the party, but i started transforming him then the head popped off. did the head fix which brought me to a few things:

    1. did it require considerable force to pop the head back on for anyone else?
    2. the heels don't line up and seem to just sit there in alt mode.
    3. are the legs in alt mode supposed to align somehow or do you have to eye ball it?

    pictures for anyone doing research:

Oh man that really sucks about the FE re-release paint job! Why the hell would they make it that way? Just seems odd, and it makes the truck mode look like ass. I was looking forward to the re-release too.

This mold is really great though. I just received the Black Guard ver. in the mail the other day and I'm loving it!
    1) Nah at no point did I think it was going to break or anything. In fact, it snapped on pretty easily. But then again I have DG Prime so it might be slightly different.
    2) Yeah they don't line up for me either, although they're pretty close. It's when you mess with the back of the truck that they come unpegged.
    3) Nah I just think you have to eyeball it, or set it down on a flat surface to align them.

Man, the gold grill in truck mode on Dark Guard OP looks sweet :D  But the sword sucks just as much as everyone has said it does. Soft as hell and came bent in the box and won't un-bend! Will hot water or a hair dryer help me bend the sword back?

PS: Thanks for all who posted the head fix! I LOVE it when figures can look up.

After having it in hand, the brown parts are one piece with the abs, so probably a short cut in the process since it's a completely separate piece from the red panels.

I actually thought I broke something when I popped the head back on since it flipped the neck platform back and opened up the two back panels. I must say though, that the plastic is strong since there were no stress marks and that the paint is thick cause it didn't pull any paint.

Now I want the dg and Tokyo toy show clear!

Yeah dude DG is amazing. I'm glad I waited for it to come out! I'd like a regular one so they could duel or something, but I guess I'll just have to have him fighting my Ultra Magnus so that figure's not a complete waste (aside from the hammer).

I almost got the TTS clear version last time I was in Japan but I had already heard about the planned re-release so I decided not to. Sort of wish I had, but I'd choose DG Prime over the others any day :D

    Hmmm...

The ARM panels for the hood lock right into the chest on mine.

So I got sorta lucky over the weekend and found a FE Takara OP for 50 bucks used, box and all.Now I do have some issues, the silver paint is coming off on my fingers especially on the blade.Theres tiny flecks of silver paint all over him too, like on the roof in Altmode and his windshield chest in Robot mode. His Autobot symbol on the grill is barely noticeable since its blurred against the silver.

Thats minor stuff but my biggest issue is,his hips are very loose, anyway to fix or tighten them up without breaking him?

Silver paint on the blade? Silver paint on the grill? Sounds like you bought someone's custom.

The paint apps on the Takara Tomy FE Optimus Prime are the exact same as the first run Hasbro one. The only silver paint on him is on the head, front of the legs, autobot symbol on his shoulder, and the steps on the sides of the truck mode. There's none on the blade or grill.

You probably got the one that was on sale in the BST forums from a member who paired it up with some cyberverse figures? The silver is custom work.

Doh!!!!! Your right looking at picks now I see it.I can see the grey plastic is a bit darker in the pics, but the one I have is painted silver.Any way to take the silver off with out ruining it?Also what about the hips?

Actually got it a trade show.I thought I got lucky too, since it so rare to find the Takara ones.So was 50 bucks a bad deal?

Unfortunately, stuff like rubbing alchohol and paint thinner can damage the bendable plastic of the blade.

50 for it is a good deal, provided you can get the silver paint off if you don't like it.

for the hips, open him up and dab some future floor polish on the unassembled parts of the joint with a Q-tip and let it dry. it'll slightly thicken the part, which will make the joint tighter.

Doh!!! again.Yeah Ill probably ruin him or make things worse if trying to remove the paint. Why did someone have to ruin him with adding silver paint to his already great paint job. Also the fact the paint rubs off when touched too.I didnt even pick up on that right away when I got him,I was just happy to find a decently used Takara FE OP.

The silver is even on hips and thighs,so maybe thats why hes so loose there.Maybe Ill fix the hips, but right now the more I look at him the more I dont want him anymore...

You can use the rubbing alcohol to remove the paint on the plastic, just not the sword. After that, apply Future to the hips and you should have a pretty good FE OP.

if it's rubbing off, it sounds like they may have used a sharpie.
