I noticed. How they can justify the price hike for nothing but a darker shade of blue is beyond me! :sly:

When Takara releases a toy, they're not thinking of what importers want. I'd dare to say they don't care what we think.

Sounds a hell of a lot like Hasbro...

I'm guessing Takara didn't have the time to make compleatly different paint scheames for their versions. I mean the reason the Takara TFA toys were able to get shiny paint was that they had time to put those paint jobs on their when thery were just getting TFA on the air in Japan since the show was cancled a year before. TFP simply didn't have the time to really get to that just like how the Takara Movie toys weren't different from the Hasbro versions because of the film's deadline. That tells me Takara will air TFP in Japan shorlty after the toys are released and this year's over.

Yeah, I was having the same problem last night. That is, if you mean in 'bot mode. The shin kept popping off. I finally got it to stay, but the slightest touch pops it right back off. A peg-in-hole would have worked much better than the light clips they've got going on.

That is my only complaint about the figure though. A little more up/down motion in the head would have been nice, but not needed. This was the first Transformer I've bought in nearly a year and it did not disappoint.

Isnt the major price difference because of the exchange rate?

Yeah, that's what I meant. So mine is not the only one. Not a big deal though, just want to know if it's common deflect or not

    Which makes it even worse!

Partly; Takara usually charge more for their stuff anyway (normally because of the higher quality paint-apps). The Hasbro version cost me £27.95, and (judging by Bulkhead's price) the Takara version is going to be around the £40 mark - which is just painful!

Back a few years ago the exchange rate was closer so they would only be a few quid more than our local Hasbro toys. Of course you have to factor shipping into it afterwards. Now it is more but I dont think their pricing has gone up that much over the years. Basically like how we now pay 13-14 for a deluxe instead of 10.

Well this thread hasn't seen too much action over the last few days, so lets pump some new life into this discussion! I received two voyager Primes a few days ago and spent about an hour adding paint applications to one of them to make him more show accurate. While the applications I added are the BARE minimum, the results to me anyways, show how acurate the sculpt is to his animated CGI form.

Nicely done. The screen accuracy of these guys is pretty darned good, I'm quite impressed with Optimus.

Im planing on taking him apart and coating all new paint apps in clear so that it just doesnt wear away. Even though this version of him will probably NEVER see transformation.

Alright, so here is a side by side comparison shot between the stock figure and my custom painted one. You can see that the small applications make a world of difference. I added

White paint to face to contrast with steel face plate
    Steel to Biceps plates
    Steel to chest window frames
Aluminum dry brushing to abdominal section
White to all Aux Light locations visible in robot mode
    Steel to Antenna on head
    Aluminum to rib cage brackets
Light coat of clear to seal new paint additions

I do NOT recommend using testors clear laquor to seal un painted locations; some spots bubbled and needed to be sanded down and painted to be finished properly. Let me know what you think, happy viewing![IMG]

This toy is insanely accurate. Those extra few paint apps just enhance that by a factor of ten. I'm so painting this thing when I get it.

Thanks, it really is one of the best transformers I have bought over the last few years. I was really excited to have these released.

Ditto. Finally a nice, proportionate, low-kibble, not-insane-to-transform, accurate Voyager Optimus Prime. Honestly I'm surprised it took so long but it was worth the wait.
