I think to start with, you would buy a MP-10 and then take him completely apart. But that will still only tell you how many parts there are. Next, you would have to find out exactly what materials were being used. And then what process they would use to produce them. Essientially, a "work instruction" of how they are put together. How long it takes a trained unskilled worker and how many of them, to complete one, etc etc.

The point I am making is that it is unfair to say "its not worth the price it commands because XYZ[production/material cost]" without knowing what actually went in. But I think anyone can at least say "its too expensive/not expensive for me"

Personally, I am not paying for it. 250$ can be spent making custom or doing other things better. If hasbro release it state side for under 70 (without trailer), I might consider it.

Well, we both have assembly line experience and no I don't plan on making a BOM for MP-10, lol.

It was just an observation. And yeah, value will always be a personal decision.

I don't know yet for MP10, but I know that I personally would pay more for something solid then something intricate and fragile (as long as both modes looked good and articulation was good), and as far as manufacturing costs, I'm not sure if heftier parts or more but smaller parts is more expensive.

Are people arguing about cost again.

Here let me explain it. The reason why this is $250, is because people pay this much for it.

I do not care what anyone says. This things is just plastic. If I can buy a 40" TV for the same cost as a MP09 or MP10, then you cannot argue anything.

So let's stop with the price point argument. If you don't want to pay the $250, wait for Hasbro and suffer on paint apps or whatever. If you do, don't make up some absurd reason why you think this deserves some $250 price tag.

It's a collectible piece of plastic. The "collectible" part is what makes it expensive.

BTW, if some one would like to prove me wrong, explain to me why 2010 Unicron was $150 and Amazon Unicron is $60. Let me guess, limited mold, paint apps, bs bs bs. The limited mold, was used to make the Amazon Unicron. There was very little to any new innovation in it. The only thing was the head. But 1 was 3x the cost. 3x the cost for panel lining? The Amazon one uses at least 3 or 4 more colors, so that offsets that. So come on now. Save the, well you don't understand this factor bs.

I'm definitely not a fan of the fragility of Roddy, but is is interesting to ask where the optimum is between intracacy, sturdiness, and price.

Who knows? Maybe Hasbro will make a semi-clever attempt at irony and release their comparatively cheaper version (sans trailer) with more diecast. And then everything will hilariously balance itself out.

Yeah. I actually wouldn't be surprised if the head was slightly remolded too. Those ear fins seem just as sharp as the smokestacks :rolleyes2

Maybe from someone else? I already packed mine up and am too lazy to do this. I can describe it for you though. Flip hands in, tuck in legs, open chest, pull grill down, unfold cab tuck everything else in... bam. That's the transformation.

Probably. Mine's still MISB so I wouldn't know.

I dont' think so. The red plastic used is very similar to Henkei Convoy. A very cherry red.

I'm still waiting on Grimlock myself, but Prime is definitely sturdy. The chest feels dense, as do the legs. The thighs might be a bit light though, but the joints are strong enough to counter balance that.

Technically speaking... the price of our dollar has gone down. I see MP-04 for 350 and MP-10 being around 250 is a hundred less. I'm not going to sway your decision on liking this any more or less, but it is pretty comparable to an SoC toy. As much as I love my God Sigma, I feel like I get better play value with Prime.

mp10 looks incredible in my opinion, just hope hasbro releases him stateside so he's in my price range. If/when they do, I wonder if there will be any extras ala rodimus' target master.. perhaps the jetpack?? that would be awesome.

I hope we don't get that dull ketchup color for the American release.

Well even in Japan I think it was $120. I forget the exact yen, but it was at least $120.

Edit: It was 10,500 Yen at release. By today's excahnge rate, it was $136. I don't think that exchange rate has gotten that much worse then a year back.

US Dollar: CURRENCY:USD quotes & news - Google Finance

June and July of 2010 is around 85-92 Yen per dollar.

    Right now its 76.

So 2010, Unicron would cost us around as you said, 120$. While today would cost us 136$ solely by exchange rate. Cept that Japan Shipping policy have changed slightly since then.

I know this figure is fairly new, and I don't want to be -that guy- but I'd prefer more pictures and opinions from people that actually have the figure than several-pages-long price and diecast bitching. Pretty please?

I kept reading how dated and ugly mp-01 looks by comparison, but I have to disagree. Sure the head sculpt is superior, but the proportions look much better on mp01. Also there something about mp10 that just looks off, I cant quit put my finger on it. I think mp01 with the igear head is the perfect prime, but thats just my opinion. Don't get me wrong though, I think this a great figure with a great alt mode, and I am hoping for stateside release just as much as any prime fan.

Better alt mode but prefer mp-01 robot mode. Trailer and spike rock .
