Ironically, after closing him up I discovered that the tape had stressed on one eye and turned white at the corner where it was visible. After 25-30 attempts I gave it up and went with the stock eyes. Thinking about painting him now that I see that the eyes are a separate piece and that I can do it without ruining anything else.

Finally got this guys last week!
I had been on the fence about getting the Takara version or the Hasbro version, but after opening him up and playing with him, I am convinced that this was the way to go. No to say that the Hasbro version isnt great too but with the rising prices and shipping to get him here to Japan, the difference in price wasnt that much.
Ive seen both in photos and they both versions look fantastic but Im really happy with the darker blue on the Tak version. Its a pitty about the eyes being so lifeless but nothing a little candy blue cant fix!
After getting MP Soundwave I was blown away by how much fun an MP can actually be! The first MP I owned was MP-09, and while I do like the figure, I just can play with it without it falling apart. MP-13 was all kinds of fun, solid and very poseable!
But I have to say, MP-10 has toped that (only slightly) and I am so happy that I finally own this beautiful peice!
Yes, he was expenssive! Yes, I paid more than I expected to and Yes there were better deals that I passed up on. But I dont regret it (I try not to) He really is the best TF toy I have ever owned! I love poseing and playing with this guy more than any other TF, MP-10 and MP13 are now on my desk at home, off the display shelves so I can fiddle around with them when Im watching TV or on the computer.

I can keep on bragging and bragging about how great this figure is but most of you on this thread already know.
For those who dont own him and are still considering, what ever version it maybe, my advice is to just get him! Find him, save up for him trade for him, whatever!
You will never need another G1 Optimus Prime ever again!
Best TF (for me) hands down!

Word. I recently picked up the TRU version of MP10, and I have to admit, it's a sick looking figure. It's kind of re-ignited my Tf passion. I mean, it was kinda there, but fading. I wanted the TFrime FE figs...but with the asinine release schedule, rarity, confusion, it just left me wanting.

I even doubted buying this particular piece. But I went to a TRU in guang zhou china and stumbled upon a stack of primes, I was like, alright...I kinda want this, let me just get it and check it off my to buy list.

Now, I want more. I want sound wave, I want galvatron, I want an updated hot rod....and for the love of all things good and holy, I.want.ultra.fucking.magnus. It's time. You have a fantastic template to work off of, now it's time to do it. My love for MPs fizzled out with the constant re-releases, redecos, and inconsistent sizes.

Which is why I'm surprised that TT are sticking to their new direction with the MP line, and am stoked that the recent releases and newly announced MPs aren't another prime (except for black convoy), starscream.

Bring it takhas...my fire has been reignited. I'm back on board.

Couple of fun shots (guess I just need Faith Leader and Hybrid Convoy to complete the size range).

I just noticed how MP-10 favors the G1 toy aesthetics more than MP-01 (chest window proportions, head shape, colors), while MP-01 still reminds me more of the "typical" G1 cartoon animation.

MP-10 needs a bigger gun

I don't see how MP 01 favors the cartoon more at all. The cartoon always took liberties with his shape, making him way more dynamic and heroically proportioned then the actual toy, and MP-10 follows suit, while MP-01 maintains a very boxy appearance. I love them both, but I can't see what you're saying there. (and your MP 10 in those pics doesn't have his arms slid out above the elbow, which makes his shape looke more boxy then it is)

How about a caveat everthing I said with "IMO" ? I stand by what I said, but I'm sure not everyone agrees or has the same recollection of their favorite G1 cartoon scenes. From my viewpoint, the overall the G1 cartoon prime had more square windows and had generally even proportions that doesn't quite match the exaggerated proportions that MP-10 captures. I do agree with you, however, that both toys are great.

I don't extend the MP-10 arms all the way because I think they look odd and proportionally too long that way.

You can say whatever you want, and I don't doubt you believe it. I didn't mean to say you're opinion was wrong as fact, I was just disagreeing for discussion's sake. Of course, who knows when the cartoon's Prime was drawn different, shot by shot.

It's all cool.

I just got my first G1 prime toy ever yesterday (I know, I'm a heretic), and in my giddiness in having all these awesome G1 prime toys in front of me, the similarities and differences I noted above just struck me. I also noted what a huge friggin' noggin MP-01 had compared to G1 toy and MP-10.

I agree, someone needs to put a picture montage together to illustrate every variation of Prime in the cartoon to illustrate how inconsistent the animtion was.

Actually, one of the reasons I got rid of my MP-01 in favor of the MP-10 is because the latter reminded me much more of the G1 toy. To me, the MP-10's proportions are more squat and slightly less anthropomorphic (proportionally longer monkey arms, and more obvious truck bits on the legs). Conversely the MP-01 is proportionally leaner and has a more streamlined look, along with a more emphasized (bigger) head, and the upper torso reminds me too much of a buff action figure. That's why he reminds me more of the cartoon representation.
