I'd say that picture does nothing more than prove how pathetically drawn the G1 cartoon actually was.

So does every Takara MP grants a US MP?

...doesn't that make you completely unqualified to review this toy? Comparing it to MP-01 is basically the point of this review. :peoples:

Good to get your thoughts on it though, despite the lack of what I would consider to be the one useful bit of information. Thanks!

Well, except Megatron thus far. We also never got Thundercracker, but the mold was released.

Comparing it to MP-01/04 isn't the main point of this review. I think that's more of an important supplement than anything else. People want to primarily know about MP-10's nuances, quality, potential issues, etc. Comparisons to its predecessor are secondary. CookSux delivered with the MP-10 review. However, I can't say that a comparison would hurt. But it doesn't make him unqualified in any way.

Thanks, got in the game late ( 08 )....Megs I understand why not, but TC I dont...

I like this Prime, the price doesnt bother me ( paid 240$ for Takara Hot Rod, and the QC issues) what bothers me is the QC issues on this guy....wait for the US version and just buy the trailer separately?

I really don't mind this one. I'm hoping it drops the price on MP-01 a little more so I can get him.

but usually parts are changed to get into the US, accessories are removed, but are sometimes replaced, usually the paint scheme (or color scheme) is far inferior, except in the case with skywarp, large parts of the figures alt mode are removed (this is the case with hot rod, so far).

i will assume that we'll see this over here.. but i'd prepare for neutered smokestacks, a more orangey red rather than a deep rich red, no trailer, which means no roller, though maybe they may replace the trailer with a transforming roller but i doubt it, and i'd guess no spike. but as usual, you get what you pay for. if you can live with having an incomplete prime more power to you, i know i can't.

for me, you can't really appreciate the trailer 'til you have prime without it. i bought the 50th anniversary prime.. and just couldn't live with it, i needed mp-04.

We had several MP Seeker releases in the States, none of which did that well, although G1 accurate Starscream was pretty hot with collectors.

I think the breaking point for the Seekers was Skywarp, who just couldn't be sold until he went on clearance.

The one thing I don't understand is why the MPs are store exclusives. You'd think more visibility would be to their benefit.

Looks like there is no Masterpiece line anymore, the line "transformed" into something like Leader class versions of G1 characters, which actually is not really bad, I like how this Prime looks beside Movie Prime.

Well, he looks great. I don't really get the whole cartoon accuracy point...

Optimus was drawn many different ways in the original series. Certainly, the makers chose from the best of the best Prime animation for the first Masterpiece figure. I hardly think the first figure is outdated at all and it will be hard to beat the original Masterpiece Prime mold since it is one of the best Transformers figures ever created.

This current Masterpiece figure just shows a different preference to the way Prime was drawn in the cartoon. I do love the gimmicks on this one and the fact he is more in scale with some of the other figures. Judging from the photos, he kinda outshines the ROTF Leader Prime and that's saying a lot since ROTF Prime is one of the strongest figures to come out of the Transformers line in the last few years.

It will be great if this entire thing hits stateside rather than just another MP Prime without his trailer.

Exactly. MP-01 captures the boxy animated essence of G1 Prime in all his glory, whereas MP-10 is perfect for those who prefer the more streamlined designs of Prime from Dreamwave/IDW/random Japanese G1 art. Different strokes, different folks.

I actually think MP-10 captures the animated model a lot better than MP-01. It especially nails it in vehicle mode.

Just be glad people that these 2 MPs exist and that you can chose one over the other. Personally I don't mind owning both for now.

That's all we've been getting since MP-05 unless it was a MP-01 repaint. The only other huge Masterpiece mold was Megatron; the Seeker mold, Grimlock and Rodimus were all roughly Leader-sized.
